Description

What happens when science meets psychosis? A chaotic design, chaotic speed, chaotic power... nd total anarchy! The new CF5 uses all new technology to produce a finished product that can do some serious destruction on the diamond! By constructing the CF5 using their new TR3 F.L.O. Composite, DeMarini has successfully created their lightest swinging bat yet. TR3 F.L.O. (which stands for Fused Layer Optimized) is a cutting edge material that is the result of the random and naturally chaotic fusing of carbon fibers. This creates a more compact carbon that enables DeMarini to make the new CF5 lighter and stronger than ever before. The stronger design allows for more even weight distribution, which in turn produces faster bat speeds! This two-piece fully composite design uses Doublewall technology to give it maximum trampoline effect with the largest sweetspot possible! DeMarini's Half and Half two-piece technology makes YOU stronger by silencing feedback on off-center hits and creating the largest, most responsive sweetspot by flexing before impact and recoiling with a burst of ball-launching energy! The CF5 also features a Geo End Cap that's focus is on keeping the barrel stiff and not letting energy escape through the end of the bat. This gives each and every hit an extra blast of energy. DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The CF5 features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and is legal for play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: My son loves this bat. It has a great sound and a light swing weight with a traditional Demarini slighty loaded feel.

Cons: I wish Demarini would make the CF5 in a -5 so it would be more suited for the 13 & 14U players transitioning to BBCOR.

Pros: Amazing bat. Probably has the most pop out of any bat out so far. Its a huge step-up from the 2012 CF5, which was already brilliant. This bat is extremely durable and doesn't chip easy. Its pop is unlike any other bat you'll find, as well as trampoline effect. Shock? not a problem. recommend this to any ball player out there. Especially power hitters.

Cons: Grip gave me blisters on my hands. I bought some adidas tape put it on and it works fine. I am old school and don't use batting gloves. If you are in middle school preparing for bbcor bats theres two options for -8 this and xl1. Every plus goes to this accept xl1 has a bigger barrel.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF5 Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCFR White? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this only preorder cause its a 2013 model or can you actually get it like right now? puge
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is not on preorder. We have these bats in stock and they are ready ship now!
Jennifer
Is the 2013 DeMarini CF5 legal to use even though it is not BBCOR certified? GC
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is legal unless you are required to use BBCOR bats.
Zach
How good of pop does this bat have? kade1323
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 DXCFR is going to have great pop. This bat is going to have some of the newest technology used in this bat. The composite barrel is going to have great pop and the way that this bat is made, it will have great durability.
Carter
I am more of contact than power hitter but do i have a chance to get a homerun with this bat? carp
The DeMarini CF5 DXCFR has a very good amount of pop. It has a balanced feel and when it is broken in fully you will notice the ball jumping off of the bat.
Sean
How come the bullet description of this bat says it'd fully composite then it says in the bat comparison it says it's half and half joe
When they are referring to the half and half construction of this bat, they are referring to the two piece composite technology. So this is still a full composite design by Demarini. Here is the link to view more detail about the DXCFR. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-demarini-cf5--dxcfr-senior-league/13539/
Derek
What is the lowest temperature this bat can be used? St hammer
Manufacturers typically recommend you limit usage when it's colder than about 55 degrees outside.
Tyler
I heard it is top heavy, do you think this is true? Luke
In my opinion, the 2013 CF5 is a balanced bat. However, I am a strong, grown man. Customers I talk to also say is a balanced bat as well.
John
Will this bat get any cheaper? Big Daddy Tad
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will not go down in price anytime soon. The price is set by the manufacture and they will determine when the price can go down.
Kara
When this bat gets under the temperature what happens? Is it still usable? smurph
We don't recommend using the 2013 DeMarini CF5 when temperatures drop below 55 degrees. At this point, baseballs become very dense and can crack the composite material of the CF5.
Derek H.
Is this bat legal for little league juniors 2013? matt
This bat should be legal for Little League Juniors in 2013 as long as your sanctioned league is allowing the big barrel 2 5/8 diameter.
Ryan
What is the best way to break this bat in? I received it today and my son has a game on Thursday and this weekend? Thanks! Steve
We recommend taking an average of 150 to 200 swings either off of a tee or soft toss starting at about 40% power and increasing the closer you get to the 200 hit mark. Also, make sure you rotate the barrel in between each hit and use the same balls you would normally use in a game.
Jennifer
My son is 12 years old, 4"11 and weighs about 82 pounds. He currently uses a Demarnin Voodoo 30/17, but hit with a friends 30/20 cf5 and LOVED it...given the fact that he is a small kid, is the 20 ounces going to be too heavy for him? Thanks. Steve
That is actually the hardest question for us to answer. It would be hard for us to say whether a 20 ounce bat will be too heavy without being able to see and analyze your son's swing. I recommend finding a 20 ounce bat locally and having him take some dry swings with it to get an idea of whether it's the right weight for him. It is normal to move up 1-3 ounces in weight with every new bat you get.
Tyler
I am 13 years old and weigh 125 pounds standing 5 foot 8 inches tall and I am wondering whether to get a drop 3 or 8 as I have just finished 7th grade going into 8th. What would you recommend? jla 25
The -3 length to weight ratio will be what you have to use the following season in your freshman year of high school, but the -5 would be lighter to swing for your 8th grade year. Its up to you whether you want a bat you can use now and your freshman year or just for the upcoming season.
Tom
im used to a 19-20oz bat 31 inch would this drop 8 be better than the drop 10? tom
I would recommend using the drop -10. Typically going up more than 1" or 1oz will require a longer adjustment period.
Nick D
Would this composite bat be better for me than the half and half version? I'm a contact hitter that hits in the gaps every time? me
Both the DeMarini CF5 and the DeMarini Vexxum are great options for a gap to gap hitter. Here is a link to further compare the differences between the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Which is a better bat... The 2013 Demarini CF5 or the 2013 Demarini Voodoo? MJM
The DeMarini CF5 and the DeMarini Voodoo are both top of the line bats. The CF5 is a two-piece fully composite bat and the Voodoo is a two-piece hybrid, with a composite handle and an aluminum barrel. Here is a link to compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
I'm 12, and next year in TSE we have to use -8 -5 -3 and I'm wondering which size I should get in this bat? I am 5'0 and 107 lbs. j rod 7
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 30" 22 oz 2013 DeMarini CF5.
Kara
In going to have my first year in the Junior Division this fall, and I will most likely be playing travel basebal. I'm interested in buying a new big barrel for myself. This CF5 -8 seems like a bat I want to use. The only thing is I'm not sure if I can use this in little league or travel ball. I'm not quit sure about the bat rules either. I've seen things that say if the bat is composite it has to be BBCOR -3. This bat says it's composite and allowed for use in 2012, but it's not BBCOR or -3. Please respond as soon as possible because I need to know this soon. Thank you very much. Joe
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is not legal in Junior Division of Little League. All composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified. Bats that have an alloy barrel are allowed in any drop.
Kara
How does this bat compare to the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum DXVXR Senior League bat in terms of balance? I've heard the DXVXR described as slightly end loaded, but I've found it is too much so for my son's taste. He's a 10 y/o, 4'8", 66 lb kid used to swinging a Louisville Catalyst 29/18. I'd be looking at this in a 29/19, but only if it is as balanced as the LS. pcarnette
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is a balanced bat. The 2012 Demarini Vexxum DXVXR is a end loaded bat. The 2013 CF5 will have a similar swing weight to the Louisville Slugger Catalyst.
Kara
I'm 13 years old and I am 5'6 and 120 lbs. I hit for power and average, and I hit 2nd in the lineup .I'm going into eigth grade. would you suggest getting drop 8, 5, or 3. Thank you AJ
If you're going in to the 8th grade, and given your size, I would recommend a -5 bat. This will help make for an easier transition to a -3 bat at the High School level.
Tyler
Which would be better for my 13yr old 8th grader 5'5 and 130 lbs the 2013 cf5 -8 or 2013 voodoo -5? iniquer
That all depends on a number of factors. 1) The size bat he is currently using. You don't want to go up more than 3 or 4 ounces in weight from what he is using now. 2) The type of bat he is currently using. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type or brand of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to continue to have success at the plate.
Tyer
I'm 12 years old (a little over 5'6" at almost 130lbs). I've been using the 2011 CF4 32/21, with very hard line drives and HRs in about the 275' range. I'll be going into 7th Grade and was thinking about getting the 32/24 this year and then moving to a -5 for 8th grade and the BBCOR for 9th. Does this makes sense? Thanks! Ben
It sounds like you have a great plan down for the progression you need to reach the BBCOR -3 bats. That's a good jump from the -11 to a -8, but it sounds like with your hitting you will have no problem making that transition.
Derek
I'm 12 and will be making the jump from Little League to USSSA. Will this bat be legal for next season in USSSA? stroh13
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is legal in USSSA for the 14U age division and below in 2012 and 2013.
Kara
I'm am just wondering if this bat can be used in travel ball. stitches
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR features the newest USSSA stamp, and if you are allowed to use 2 5/8" barrel bats, then this would be legal.
Tom
Is the CF5 legal for 13 to 15 yr old Babe Ruth? Booya
No, for 13-15 year old Babe Ruth, if the barrel of the bat is composite like this CF5 then it must be BBCOR certified. Here is a link to the BBCOR certified model of the 2013 DeMarini CF5. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-demarini-cf5-bbcor--dxcfc-adult/15465/
Tom
I am 5'6" x 126 lbs 13U (in 7th grade). Trying to decide between the 2012 DeMarini CF5 (-8) or if I should wait for the 2013 Easton XL Series (-8). Any advice on how the two products may differ? I hit for power and have good bat speed. Prefer a composite barrel. Have used one piece in the past, but like the feel of the balance swing the CF5 offered. Tater
If you prefer a balanced bat, the 2013 DeMarini CF5 would be the better choice. The Easton XL1 will be slightly end loaded.
Kara
Which bat has a bigger barrel the, DeMarini CF5 or the Easton XL1? nate the great
The Easton XL1 will have a more extended barrel, whereas the DeMarini CF5 will be more balanced.
Tom
How long does it take to warm it up? frbedwhjfg
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League has a Two-Piece Fully Composite Design. You can break the bat in with 150 to 200 swings of soft toss or swings off the tee. Remember to rotate the bat 1/4 inch after every swing.
Jeff
Im 12 4 10 and weigh 80 pounds. Ive been using a 29-20 voodoo and am thinking about getting this bat. Would you suggest a 29-21 or a 30-22? thanks ZHDAWGS#2
The recommended size would be 30 inches. A lot depends on your current bat speed with your VooDoo. If you have good bat speed then you are probably ready to move up to a 30 inch bat.
Jeff
I am 12 years old and I am 5'5" and 102 pounds. I would like to use this bat for at least a year. Would you recommend a 31" 23 oz. or a 32" 24 oz? Alex the great
Based on your height and weight and amount of time that you would like to use the bat, I would suggest a 32" 24 oz. 2013 DeMarini CF5. That size would allow you to grow into the bat.
Nick
I'm 11, would the 31" 23oz. be good for me? cody
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCRF Senior League bat would be a great choice. Using the Bat Coach Feature on justbats.com it recommends that an 11 year old use a 30" bat model. I also think if you are an experienced 11 year old hitter you could step it up and hit with a 31" CF5. You just need to be able to swing it comfortably and confidently through the hitting zone.
Brandon
I have the 2012 love it. But how can this get any better? David
Tyler
is this bat approved for play in babe ruth 13 year old leauges in 2013? judd
Unfortunately, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR is a full composite big barrel bat that is not approved for play in Babe Ruth.
Tyler
What sort of break-in is necessary for the new composite bats? Hitmen24
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League has a Two-Piece Fully Composite Design. You can break the bat in with 150 to 200 swings of soft toss or swings off the tee. Remember to rotate the bat 1/4 inch after every swing.
Derek
What is the most balanced bat out of these 3? The CF5(-8), Combat B4 Portent(-8), or the Combat Pure Gear(-8) all senior league? EliteBaseballJake
The DeMarini CF5 is going to be the most balanced bat out of the COMBAT B4 Portent, and the COMBAT Pure Gear. The two-piece design of the CF5 is going easily the the most balanced bat.
Noah
Does the drop -8 have a bigger sweet spot then the -10?? Jmhvcmygcmycmy
Both the -8 and -10 models have similar size sweetspots.
Tyler
Does the drop 8 have a bigger barrel then the -10???? Cheese

My son is 11 years old. He is 5' tall and 93 lbs. He will use a drop 8 bat. Should he go with 30" or 31" DeMarini CF5? mc
For the 11 year old player standing 5" tall and weighing less than 100 lbs. I would go with the 30" bat length. This bat is very balanced and easy to swing. He should have no problem getting it through the zone.
Brandon
I'm 12 years old, 5'3" and 102 lbs. Should I go with a 32" or a 31"? TGriffin
For a 12 tear old of your size, I suggest going with the 31" model of the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League.
Marcus
I'm 13 years old and a contact hitter. I'm small for my age so 30 inch drop 8 is the size I need. I'm playing Little League Juniors so I don't know if this bat is legal. I'm looking for a bat with a lot of pop. Do you recommend this bat? Are there any other bats I should take a look at? Meal Ticket
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is not legal in Little League Juniors League. Composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified. I recommend taking 150-200 full contact swings with the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League. Start with about 40% power on your first 50 swings, eventually increasing power as you go along. After each swing, you should rotate the bat 1/4" so all of the materials have a chance to break-in.

BPF1.15 is a lab test for regulating small-barrel and big-barrel baseball bats. BPF1.15 places an upper limit on a bat's springiness ("trampoline effect") as compared to that of a rigid wall, which equals BPF 1.00. Wood bats are virtually inelastic, with values of slightly more than 1.00. Small barrel and big barrel youth bats are not supposed to exceed 1.15.

Jason
Does this generation of composite bats need to be "broken in" and if so what is proper way to do this? Walker
The DeMarini CF5 (DXCFR) White Senior League model is a bat that would show increased performance after a short breaking in period. Breaking the bat in creates a better "trampoline effect" in the barrel and maximizes the performance of the bat. The way we recommend to do this is by taking between 150-200 swings either with soft toss or tee work. While taking these hits, the bat head should be rotated a quarter turn on each hit. This method insures that the composite fibers break in evenly around the entire barrel of the bat.
Patrick

Two part question: 1)How does the swing weight of this bat compare to the 2014 CF6 -8? 2)My son is 5'3" and 85 lbs. He is 13 yrs old and next spring will be his last season before he starts playing school ball (BBCOR -3 requirement). He is very athletic for his size. He has been swinging a 29" -10 Easton alloy bat and has outgrown it mid-season. Question is, Do you recomend him going with a -8 or up to a -5 to get ready for the high school requirments? Despite the extremely light bat he has been swinging he is one of our teams' best hitters with a wood bat so I am not sure how or even if the weight difference will make a big difference. Just looking for a bit of guidance. JW
The DeMarini CF5 (DXCFR) White Senior League and the DeMarini CF6 are both very balanced bat.. If he swinging an adult wood bat with success, we recommend using a -5 bat. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVX5) is a great option.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
