Comparing Fastpitch Dad parent

Pros: MY daughter loves the additional length she gets at the same weight as her other bats. The bat is well balanced and has a great feel.

Cons: My Daughter is 8 playing 10u fast pitch softball, she is relatively small for the age group and was swinging a 29in 18oz DeMarini CF7 the bat had lost it pop in about a year but performed really well. This year I wanted to get a bat that was a little longer and was about at the same weight as the CF7. After reading the review on the FS3 and asking questions to coaches and the Pros on Just bats the recommendation was to stay at the -11."But since she had been swing it with no issues it would be ok to go to a longer bat". Last week a girl on my daughter's team bought the CF8 -11 and my daughter got the chance to swing both bats. It was obvious that she was getting 20-25 more feet out of the CF8 then the Fs3. . It doesn't appear that this bat will have the pop that we looking for…

Travel ball coach (dad) COACH coach

Pros: My daughter has been using a Demarini Ended Loaded bat, she Plays 14u, most her hits were to right field with that bat 33" 23oz. , She said it was a lil heavy. .We start ALL-STARS soon..in pick up games with THIS NEW BAT. She went 3 for 3 in both games 1 H.R. to right field (ugh) lol, but the main thing is she feels good with this bat, i recommend this bat size for 14u or 12u if the kid is having trouble pulling ball..Good luck to all kids !

Cons: Durability was 3 ,due to short time so far..but im sure it will be Great"

Magic Bat! longtime ball player dad parent

Pros: According to my ten-year-old daughter the bat is Magic! First three at-bats she hit into the air in the Outfield! It has an end loaded feel but not too heavy for a not so powerful hitter. 29" perfect for my daughter @60 lbs. Would not be great for the travel ball player that has been playing for 3 or 4 years. It would be too light. Perfect for smaller or intermediate player.

Cons: nothing

worth the money softball mom/ coach coach

Pros: We bought this bat for our daughter last year. She was only 4' 3" and 55lbs and needed a bat with decent pop but that was easy to swing. She loved this bat as did several other girls on her travel team that were similar in size to her. If you are looking for a bat that has AMAZING pop this is probably not the bat for you, but if you are looking for a bat for contact hitters with decent pop then this is the one. The price is reasonable, especially considering 3 different girls used this bat all during league last year, summer ball, and league this year and it's still performing well!!

Cons: Really none. We've definitely gotten our moneys worth!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I have an 11 year old girl in her 3rd year playing. She is an okay player. Do you think this bat will help her game? carlos
A bat alone cannot improve a player's game by itself. A lighter bat like the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) may help her to work on her form and bat speed which can lead to better bat speed and would be a great help in developing better hitting with some work.
Patrick
Is this bat end loaded or balanced? J-Fray
This 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) is built with a two-piece, fully composite construction that is designed to have an evenly balanced swing weight.
Ben
Are the FP16S312 and the FP16S3T12 the same bat? If not, what is the difference? hit it far
The handles on the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) and the 2016 Easton FS3 TORQ CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S3T12) are different. The TORQ model has a rotating piece where the bottom hand will go that helps the player keep their hands, wrists and knuckles in proper alignment to drive the ball and to prevent rolling over.
Patrick
Is this pretty much the same FS3 as a few years ago? I was very unhappy with performance back then. mav
The 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 is not the same as the FS3 model a few years ago. It will feature the same IMX composite material but this bat is a two-piece composite design compared to the one-piece a few years ago. The 2016 model also features the HYPERSKIN Grip as well as the CXN Zero Technology that promotes supreme confidence by eliminating all vibration.
John
Is the Easton FS3 -12 equal to or better than the Louisville Slugger XENO -11? The XENO appears to have lost it's pop. Karl
The 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 and the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN161 are both two-piece bats that will be fully composite and feature a balanced swing weight. With that said, both bats are going to perform very similar for a player. The pop that the XENO has lost may be due to the composite materials breaking down past peak performance standards or has experienced cracking. If that is the case then this bat may need to be sent in for warranty replacement if it qualifies.
Cameron
Does the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball bat have a break in period? Vinchar
The 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 is fully composite so it will have a break-in period of 150-200 soft toss swings.
Angelique
What size would be best for my daughter? She is 53 inches and 80 lbs. a.w.
We would recommend a 30" 18 oz. for a player with her height and weight.
John
My granddaughter is 14, 5'3", 97 lbs. She likes the feel of a 33" bat. Is that too big for her size? lilbit0318
Typically, a player of her size would swing a 32" bat. But swinging a 33" of the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 is not outside the realm of possibility for her.
Marcus
My daughter is 4' and weighs 52 pounds. What length would you recommend? ShawnC
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using either a 27" or a 28" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
John P.
My daughter is 14 and 5' 8' tall. Should she use a 33" bat? Fenway
For most 14 year old players we are suggesting a 32" model of fastpitch bat. However, if you feel that she can handle the 21 oz weight of the 33" length of this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312), then I would recommend this bat in the that size.
Ben
My daughter is 11 years old, weighs 70 lbs, and is 4'8". What length and weight bat do you think she needs? Margo
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 30" 18 oz model of the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
Jason
My daughter is 12 years old, 55" and weighs roughly 80 pounds. Should she go with the 31"/19 oz size? Damo
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation a 30" length of a fastpitch softball bat. However, if you feel that your player can handle the 19 oz weight of the 31" option of this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312), then I would have no problem with you guys getting that size option.
Ben
My daughter plays travel softball 12U and I'm trying to decide on the size of bat for her. She is roughly 90 pounds and about 5'3". Steph
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
John P.
Is this bat good for high school play? Mike
If you are a high school player that is wanting to swing a fastpitch bat with a -12 length-to-weight ratio, then this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) would certainly be bat to consider for use. It will meet all requirements needed for use in high school fastpitch softball.
Ben
Does the hand grip extend past the blue tape? Looks like it may just want to be sure. My daughter is 5'7" and is 130 lbs. What size do you recommend for her? Nicole
Yes, the grip tape extends past the blue on the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312. The top part of the grip is white so it can be tough to see in the images. Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 33" model.
Jason
What length and ounces should I get if I'm 5'1 and 130 pounds? Also, what's the difference between -11 and -12 drop? sbd
Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312. It is hard for me to recommend a weight as that is going to vary from player to player depending upon their personal preference, hitting style, and strength. The difference between the -11 and the -12 is only the difference of one ounce.
John P.
I have a daughter who is playing 10U tournament softball. She is 9 years old and is about average for her age. She weighs around 63 pounds. What length and weight bat would you recommend? Nate
I would suggest a 29" or 30" and a drop -12 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) for your daughter.
Jake
I'm deciding between this bat or the MAKO. What's the difference? pg
The 2016 Easton MAKO CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat will not be featured in a drop 12 like the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312. The other main difference would be the composite technology. The MAKO features Thermo Composite Technology while the FS3 has the IMX Composite Technology. Both bats will be two-piece fully composite designs with balanced swing weights (MAKO will feel slightly lighter), CXN Zero Technology connection point to reduce vibration and hyperskin grip.
Cameron
My daughter is 4'10" and weighs 82 lbs. She is 10 and plays 10U. What size of bat would you recommend? Lelo
For a player of her size, I'd recommend getting the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 in the 31" 19 oz. size.
Marcus
My daughter plays high school ball. She is 5'3", 125 lbs. We are looking at getting this -12 but unsure of the size. She uses 32 MAKO now but I think she could use the 33 with this, what do you think? Jay
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
John P.
My daughter is 4'6" and weighs 61 lbs. She is 11 and plays 11U. She is a lefty slap hitter. What size of bat would you recommend? KM
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 30" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
John P.
Can you get a 30" / 19 oz model in this bat? CL
Unfortunately, the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 features a -12 length to weight ratio so the 30 inch length will weigh 18 ounces.
John P.
My daughter is 5'8" and weighs 130 pounds. What length bat does she need? Bob
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 33" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
John P.
(1) I want a bat that can be used for a couple of seasons. My daughter is 8 yrs old, weighs around 75 lbs & is 4'5" tall. What size bat would you recommend? (2) As well, I'm being told if I switch her bats in middle of the season, it will mess up her swing. Is that true? addy ray
(1) Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a fastpitch bat in the 30" length. To get your player a bat that could last multiple seasons, I would recommend maybe looking to a 31" model of this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312). As long as you feel that she can handle the 19 oz weight of the bat, I would recommend this FS3 in that size. (2) I don't think that it is a terrible idea to switch to a new bat during the season. However, I might recommend a transition from one bat to the other instead of an immediate change. After buying the new bat, I might recommend slowly fazing the new bat in and slowing taking the old bat out of her practice use. After she is fully using the new bat in practice, I think it could start to be used in games.
Ben
How does the performance of TCT differ from IMX composite? john
It is tough to say how these two composite materials will differ in regards to performance. Speaking with customers who have used previous bats featuring the IMX composite it seems that the consensus was that the IMX composite would get hotter over time.
Cameron
My daughter is 5'6" and weighs 125 lbs. We purchased the MAKO (33"/23 oz), but it appears to be a little to heavy. I am looking to purchase a lighter bat for this year (she'll grow into the MAKO later). What size should I buy for her? KW
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of going with a 33" option of fastpitch bat. I would recommend getting this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) in the 33" length as long as you feel that she can handle the 21 oz weight (I think that she can handle the 21 oz weight and this FS3 will allow her time to grow into the MAKO).
Ben
My daughter's Easton CV12 just died. I can't seem to find the Easton replacement. Would this bat work for her? Brian
Unfortunately, Easton does not really make a continuation model of the CV12 which has an alloy build and a composite inner tube to make it more light-swinging. This FS3 will be a two-piece, all-composite bat with a -12 length-to-weight ratio. If you guys were looking to switch up the design of your bat a little bit, I would recommend taking a look at this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) if you can get it in a beneficial size for your player.
Ben
Is the Easton FS3 (fp16s312 ) end loaded? softballmom
The 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 has a balanced swing weight.
Jason
My granddaughter is 7 years old, 4'5" and weighs 78 lbs. What size would you recommend in this bat? Lowrider
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
Jason
What is the break-in period for this bat? dad of 3 girls
The 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 will require roughly a 50 pitch break-in, rotating the barrel a 1/4" after every swing off a tee or soft toss (only need to use about a 60% swing effort).
Cameron
My daughter is 10 years old, 4'7" & 75 lbs. What size bat would be best for her? Scott Overstreet
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend going with the 30" option of this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312). As long as you can handle the 18 oz weight of the 30" size, I would recommend that size of bat.
Ben
What does it mean when it says it is a two piece ? curious
The 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) is a two-piece bat which means it is connect in the middle between the handle and barrel. This give the bat flex when you swing it so that it cuts down on vibration upon contact.
Damon
Can you use this bat in high school? bill
Yes, the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 is approved for high school softball.
Sean
Can you use this bat in Little League? J Terry
This 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) is approved for Little League softball.
Ben
What size for my daughter? She is 11 years old, 5'2" and 97 lbs. She is left handed if that matters. Cahaba pest
Based on her height and weight we would recommend a 32"/20oz 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312).
Carter
How do you know if the composite material is going bad? Is the bat still good to use? KT
With extended use, composite material can go bad due to cracking, but I would not say that the IMX Advanced Compoite material used on this bat is bad material and should not be used. To be honest, the reviews we have been getting on this 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) have been pretty positive and I would recommend the FS3 pretty highly.
Ben
What size bat is good for a 9 yr old girl. 4 feet tall and 46 lbs.? R
Based off of her height and weight we recommend using a 26" or 27" bat.
Cooper
My daughter is 12 yrs old (13 in March) 4' 11" and 98 lbs. What bat size and weight do you recommend? Bat Dad
Based on her size, we would recommend the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 in the 31" 19oz size.
Logan
Purchased this bat in August 2016. My 9 year old daughter has only used it during practice. Over the 4 months of "light to normal" use a metal or plastic chip has come loose inside the bat. When she lifts the head of the bat up you can hear the chip fall to the handle and back when the head is lowered. Is this typical? I haven't experienced this on other bats. Eric
The noise you are hearing in the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312, grains of sand or small pebble like sounds typically, are the result of excessive adhesive that is used to secure the end cap of the bat to the barrel. This is an issue that occurs with more than one bat and bat manufacturer and, although a nuisance at times to listen to, will not affect the performance of the bat. This is an issue that will fall into the manufacturer's warranty as well so if it is not something you care to listen to we would certainly recommend sending back to Easton for warranty purposes.
Cameron
Daughter is 5'5", 110 lbs freshman. What do you recommend? charles
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 in a 32 inch model. Depending on the player's strength and hitting style, a drop 12 may be too light and a drop 11 or 10 would be a better option to consider from a durability perspective.
Cameron
My daughter is 4'9" and weighs 97 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? She is playing 10u. megan
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312 in a 31 inch model.
Cameron
My niece plays 11U. She currently uses a 32" 20 oz. DeMarini. She is 5'4" and 130 lbs. She wants to move up to a 33". What is your recommendation? drewiv
Based on her size she should be able to swing a 33" 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
Sean
My daughter is 4'3". Weighs 60 lbs. She plays 8u. What is your length and weight recommendation? Ruby
We would recommend a 27-28" length for her. As for weight, we can't really recommend that because we don't know things like the strength of the player, what her swing looks like, if she chokes up or not, etc.
Kyle J.
My daughter plays 12U rec and tournament fastpitch. She is 5'8" and weighs about 100 pounds. Thinking about getting this bat, 34/22. Think it would be too big? Thinking for play a couple of years down the road also. Jason
Based on her current height and weight, we would suggest a 32" model. A 34" is pretty long for just about any player. Most players tend to move up to a 33", but not always up to a 34". Really you only see that length used by college players.
Jason
Wondering what size bat to get my high school daughter? She is 5'4" tall and weighs 175. SSA
We would recommend a 33" length of bat for someone her size.
Kyle J.
My daughter is 4'9" and weighs 143 lbs. What size bat is best for her? Myrna
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 32" model of the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312.
Jason
Right size bat for an 11 yr old who is 53" tall and weighs 65 lbs? Coach
We would recommend a 30" bat for someone around her size.
Kyle J.
Is this bat BPF 1.20? Jill
Yes, the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) features the USSSA BPF 1.20 stamp on the taper of the bat.
John
My daughter is 5' and weighs 90 lbs. She will be eleven in October, so want a bat that we can use next year. What size should we get? bear
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 32" model of the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16S312. The 31" size is the current suggested size, but she is not far off from the 32" being the suggested size so that will be a good size to use now and still grow into.
