Description
TCT Thermo Composite Technology is the key to the MAKO's industry-leading swing speed, massive sweet spot, and pure feel on contact. This innovative material comprises both the barrel and handle which are united by Easton's patented 2-PC ConneXion Technology. By isolating the handle from the barrel with the connection joint, energy transfer is maximized while simultaneously eliminating any unwanted vibration. This model, being a MAKO XL, offers players with even more barrel than the standard MAKO - creating a perfecting end loaded swing weight for maximum power and distance.
The MAKO XL features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter, -5 length to weight ratio, new HYPERSKIN Performance Grip, and the USSSA BPF 1.15 Certification. End Loaded! For the Big Boys Ben Montgomery parent
Pros: Absurd pop - at least as much pop as the 2015 xl1. I have swung both bats, and the feel of the ball leaving the bat is very similar. Very similar weight distribution as the xl1. I am a 240lb, 6-4 father. Great bat for 12-14yo's who weigh at least 120-125lbs.
Cons: My son is 13yo, 5-8 and 112lbs. We bought the bat after watching last year's 13yo's look like super heroes hitting with the xl1. Although my son loved the pop of the bat, he could not make the necessary adjustments during a swing to ultimately control the end loaded weight distribution of the bat.
2016 Easton MAKO XL AZ player
Pros: Huge sweet spot, no vibration, quick break in, insane pop. Definitly is as good if not better than 2015 easton XL1
Cons: Rattle in the easton emblem in the center of the end cap, but i was informed that this won't affect performance by JustBats.
excellent bat PBA RENEGADES parent
Pros: This bat is really hot after being broken in. The ball jumps off of this bat. This is the best composite bat Easton has made this far.
Cons: This bat is not weighted correctly. It is supposed to be a -5 but I had it weighed at 26.6 ounces which makes it a -3.5 at 30 inches. I had another 30 -5 weighed and it weighed 28 ounces. That would make it a -2. If your player can handle the weight it is the best bat in the market!
Smaller than 2015 model Big Country parent
Pros: Nice new paint job. Great feel, once broke in has good pop. Longer break in period than cf8 so hopefully it outlast it. son moved from 2015 XL -8 to this model -5.
Cons: This bats sweet spot is about 2 inches smaller than the 2015 model. I don't see how they can continue to call this an XL with this glaring difference. Sweet spot not as big and cf8 is bigger. If cf8 was end loaded I'd go with that bat.
Good Bat Eric parent
Pros: My son loves this bat. He's getting nice pop out of it but I think its not fully broke in yet.
Cons: none
mako xl senior league casey player
Pros: this bat is great and i love everything about it
Cons: i cannot think of any!
One of the best we have purchased so far Jason Lindauer parent
Pros: One of the best end-loaded bats we have ever bought. Keep in mind that full composites run heavy, so the drop 5 is really a drop 3 1/2. It has the weight and balance of a wood bat with a lot more pop. Excellent transition bat from -5 to BBCOR. My son (13) has always preferred balanced bats but changed his mind after using the XL. Extremely happy with the purchase so far.
Cons: Full composite bat means less than 60 degrees and it has a chance of cracking. Tough to use during the Spring in VA.
Great Bat with great pop Jonathan Jackson parent
Pros: Ball jumps off the bat!
Cons: non so far
Maybe a good bat, just not a good fit for my son.. Matt Buckner parent
Pros: Well made, decent pop...
Cons: Son did not like the end loading, made the bat feel heavier than the 32/29 BBCOR bat he was using that this was to replace. In the cage he got his hands stung a few times which is odd for a 2 piece bat.
Best Bat I've Swung Baseballkid player
Pros: This bat has ridiculous pop it jumps of the bat like a trampoline I love the endload in the bat it had collasial carry distance due to the endload and i have hit many deep hits and a couple of big homeruns and ive had it for a long time just decided to do a review now i only played 3 tourneys with it and have hit 8 hrs i hit my first one with it and it was a moment to remember. im 14 and 5'7'' and about 115-120 lbs and this bat is amazing i hit for power and average but i have had lots of homers with it.
Cons: none
Great Great Bat for the $ Queens parent
Pros: Once broken in this bat has just as much pop as the 2015 XL1.
Cons: none yet
2016 MAKO XL BGK parent
Pros: Start off by saying Just Bats is the only way to go to purchase a bat. customer service and shipping 5 stars!! .....Bat came out the wrapper "Hot". My son is 5' 105 lbs and has a very quick and strong swing. I was worried about the -5 being to heavy, but he handles it very well. no vibration or sting. I just hope this bat last longer than his Mako Torq, crack in 4 weeks, but we will see. My son is very happy with the bat, all he want to do is HIT!
Cons: None so far.
