Glowstick Brett player

Pros: I will say, I usually don't necessarily like composite bats, but I had the chance to demo a 33" Quatro and gave it a shot. To me, many comps seem to be so balanced that I lose some of the feel of the barrel. So I've really only purchased alloy. Wouldn't say it's "ultra-light", but I felt the bat getting through the zone easily. Just balanced enough. Long barrel / big sweet spot and lighter weight like any quality comp. The "Quatro Collar" definitely does its job. Pitches hit a little too far toward the handle or toward the end cap won't ring your hands at all, but it gives enough feedback so that you know you didn't quite get all of it. When you square one up, you can feel the slightest amount of flex which I like a lot. Really good performance right out of the wrapper.

Cons: (Pros Cont.) - Kind of a small thing, but I like this grip. Not too thin like others. Those black shapes on the grip aren't just printed; they're cut-out from the rest of it. After some swings and my hands getting a little sweaty, I noticed that the little "holes" really helped keep my hands on the bat without slipping (I don't wear gloves). After about 100-150 swings, I didn't find a reason yet to give this one anything but a 5 out of 5.

lower-level bat J_Spauld player

Pros: The quatro has a skinny handle and allows for whip throw the zone. The inner wall does not collide with the outer wall if you have a slower/medium bat speed and arent facing 90 mph pitching. I recommend this bat for middle school and JV players. The 5150 and Velo are much more effective for Varsity and college level play. The thing that bewilders me is that i have seen a couple of UVA baseball players hit with this bat.

Cons: my bat speed is 85-90 mph and most pitchers i face will have a fastball of at least 85 mph, this combination of speed does not mesh well with my style of playing consdering that the Quatro has an inner wall and outter wall, if the two walls do not collide it simulates hitting with the old BESR bats. The walls collide basically every at-bat for me.

Great Bat Danny parent

Pros: Loved this bat right out of the wrapper. Definitely gets noticed on the field. The grip feels great in your hands. Almost no vibration when you get jammed on a pitch. Good pop off the bat and a satisfying sound.

Cons: No complaints so far with this bat. Very satisfied overall.

BBCOR Quatro JP other

Pros: I went through an entire round of BP and did not feel a single ounce of vibration. The new quatro collar really does its job. This bat almost sounds as if it were aluminum. I love it.

Cons: It says balanced but I felt like there was a slight end load to it. The grip isn't as 'cushion-y' as I would have hoped but it gets the job done.

Cinco stars for the Quartro! Coach Peterson coach

Pros: This bat is in a class of its own as it is redefining the composite bat world. Rawlings combine the best of both worlds with a bat that swings smooth and has a tremendous amount of pop. The barrel is easy to feel which promotes a proper swing path. Grip is course and durable. The most balanced composite bat I have swung. The rubberized Quatro collar seems to significantly reduce vibration. Great addition to the Rawlings family of bats and easily one of the best bats on the market.

Cons: * Not as all disappointed in this purchase.

Best all-around bat I've used! Sammy B player

Pros: This bat is undoubtedly the best bat I have ever used. It has more pop than any bat I've tried. It is also a very balanced bat and feels very light while swinging. I have always trusted Rawlings for their great quality. The Quatro is a phenomenal bat, that all of the great players will soon be using. I can't wait to see the future of this bat!

Cons: There are no noticeable flaws to this bat.

Pros: The Quatro is simply the smoothest bat I've ever used. No matter the point of contact it feels like you hit the sweet spot every time. This bat is meant for any type of hitter from homerun hitters to contact hitters. This bat is all around one of Rawlings best products and is a highly recommended bat for any level of play.

Cons: not a flaw to the bat.

Great look but still needs help KRWKRW parent

Pros: The flex and feel of the bat are great with a balance swing and some descent pop

Cons: Other brands have more pop that my son tried on his team. The durability is not great. Halfway through the season the bat had more flex and less pop even a wiod bat out preformed. Shoock it after a few more games in and had a rattle inside. Rawlings was great on sending a replacement except the replacement cracked after the first outing during my sons first high school scrimmage. We will purchase a different brand that is used to making composite bats.

Pros: The bat has amazing pop and balance right out of the wrapper. The grip tape beats all of the bulky ones to where you can truly feel the bat as you swing. No vibration at all.

Cons: Within 1 week of using the bat it was being looked at and there were a total of 7 different cracks along the barrel.

Broke in less than 1 month Power hitter player

Pros: Good pop, nicely weighted. Good feel for power hitters.

Cons: Not durable. I have a 90+ exit velocity, and this bat broke (something large rattling inside, and complete loss of any pop). I always had DeMarini CF's and all lasted more than 2 full years. I did not like the grip that came with the bat, after the initial few sessions.

Good feel, terrible durability Anthony parent

Pros: Bat has some good pop to it. Balance is good, grip is really nice.

Cons: Bought bat 4/3/17 and it broke on 6/15/17. To much money for a bat that breaks after 2 months. My son got jammed on a pitch and bat broke right on the "R" on RAWLINGS.

Great feel and pop but poor durability Nunya player

Pros: Good balance and pop.

Cons: Fragile. Bat broke within 6 weeks of use. Rawlings warranty and customer support stinks - especially when you consider the price that you're paying. If your bat breaks, be prepared to be without it for at least 3 weeks. And you better not break the replacement they send you, because you only get one. So, clearly, Rawlings doesn't think they need to stand behind a bat they charge $400 for.

Quatro BBCOR Brian other

Pros: This bat as everyone has said has tremendous pop coming out of the wrapper and only gets better. Bought 4 the players loved them. The ball flew off the bat and we were clobbering the ball as a team and then the cons began.

Cons: We broke all 4 bats in less than a month. The durability on these bats is terrible for this cost tier of a bat. We have periodically had bats break that we buy for the team thats why you have warranties. But to break all 4 in less than a month into the season and then to get them replaced and break 3 of the 4 replacement bats is unacceptable.

2017 quatro Shawn Morin coach

Pros: This bat has a lot of pop to it. Feels good when swinging and making contact. But that does not last very long.

Cons: Not a very durable bat. Bought Quatro 34" drop 3 BBcor bat in January of 2017. Read all about the Quatro. I even bought a far less expensive bat with a similar size barrel for batting practice. Used the Quatro only in games. During a game 5 months after purchase the end cap of bat began to staqrt coming loose. I would push it back on. A few weeks after there was something loose inside the bat. My son had a few big upcoming tournaments so I did not send right away. I sent the bat back 8 months after the original purchase date. Received a new one that was stamped No Warranty. During my 1st game using replacement bat (which is a 2018 34" Quatro ) my sons second at bat a large peice has come loose on the inside. It sound like a very large piece. As you swing the bat you feel it travel up the barrel and hit the end cap. WOW!!!! I say. Very disappointed in this. Alot of money to pay for a bat that does not even last 6 months. Theres something FISHY about the replacement

Great Bat Avery player

Pros: My Amazon product is the 2017 Rawlings Quatro, This is a baseball bat, it is a bright neon color all over with Rawlings in black print. This bat looks good as well as it has a very nice feel when you swing it. It uses its 4 piece bat to generate more torque and have a more balanced feel. It uses its middle piece to deaden the vibration so you cannot feel anything when you hit. Personally it is the best bat I have ever swung, It has such a balanced feel. Meaning the weight is evenly distributed leading to the bat feeling lighter than what it actually is. It has a big sweet spot that leads to you barrelling up more balls. Alos when I hit one off the end of the bat or down on the handle there is no vibration. In any other bats you will get a stinger if you hit one in those spots. I highly recommend this product 4.5 stars out of 5. The only bad thing about this product is that it is a little pricey.

Cons: nothing

Does the Quatro have a break-in period? bob
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 has a composite barrel of which requires a short break-in period. We recommend at least 50-100 swings off of a tee or soft-toss, while turning the bat about 0.25" between each swing.
Angelique
Will the Quatro be weighted similar to the TRIO and are all 4 pieces composite? Bob Chap
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 is completely composite and it is going to be a very balanced bat.
Carter
Could this be better than the Easton MAKO, Rawlings 5150 or the Louisville Slugger 715? baseball25
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 is a new bat being manufactured by Rawlings and one would think it will be as good, or better, than the MAKO, 5150 or LS 715. With that said, only time will tell as this will be Rawlings first composite BBCOR baseball bat.
Cameron
Do you feel the PRIME 917 or Rawlings Quatro will be better? If possible, give a true answer saying which is better not saying both are the right choice! dom
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 is the first fully composite BBCOR bat that Rawlings has manufactured. Only time will tell how good this bat will be. As for the LS Prime 917, this bat will be very similar to the 916. If you used the 916 previously and liked how the bat performed then you should like the 917. The look and feel of the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 makes us believe that this bat will be a great addition to the composite lineup of BBCOR bats and we are interested to see how customer's review the bat moving forward.
Cameron
Is this bat replacing the VELO? kyle
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4) will not be replacing the VELO series. The Quatro is Rawlings first ever composite BBCOR bat, whereas the 2017 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7V) is still the same excellent one-piece alloy bat that's been so popular the past couple years.
Jake
Will this bat be better for a power hitter or contact hitter? bobby
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 features a balanced swing weight as well as an ultimate flex to help accelerate speed throughout contact which is more beneficial to contact hitters.
Sean
How will this composite work in cold temps compared to a alloy bat? Jerry
It is not recommended to use a composite bat in temperatures below 55 degrees. Lower temperatures will decrease the bats performance and increase the potential of cracking
Carter
Is the new 2017 Quatro a 2-piece bat? JSS
This 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4) will feature an all-composite design. As well, the composite barrel and composite handle will be fused together at a connection point. You could refer to the bat as a a two-piece bat.
Ben
Is the Rawlings Quatro like the old RX4 models? I really liked those and they quit making them. Lance
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 is a two-piece fully composite bat and is the first composite BBCOR bat that Rawlings has produced. This bat will be completely different when compared to the old Rawlings RX4 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRX4 as this bat was a one-piece fully alloy bat. Both bats will have a balanced swing weight but that is all that they will share in common.
Cameron
In terms of balance, how does this bat compare to the Rawlings VELO? Tom
This 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4) will be a pretty balanced swinging bat. However, I might give the advantage in regard to balance to the VELO since the VELO features a light-weight, composite end-cap that helps bring down the swing feel on the bat.
Ben
How do you compare the Rawlings Quatro to the Marucci Cat 7? Josh
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4) is two piece composite bat while the Marucci Cat 7 is going to be a one piece aluminum bat. The Quatro will offer a lot more flex while the Cat 7 will offer a stiffer feel, more like a wood bat.

Does the Quarto have the USA stamp on it, I understand that beginning in 2018 season they will not be able to be used if it does not have this stamp. Scott
Leagues requiring a BBCOR certified bat, such as the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4, will not be affected by the rule change. There are not any bats on the market yet that feature the USABat stamp or that will pass certification to be used next year. These bats will be available in the fall of this year.

Trevor
I have heard great things about this bat as far as feel and pop. The only down side that has been brought to my attention is durability. How likely are these bats to break and if they do break what is your warranty/ return policy? Michael
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 features a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. It is hard to say how long any bat may or may not last but if it were to break within that 12 month window then Rawlings would cover the replacement.

I would recommend the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 in a 34'' 31 oz.
Max

Cameron

The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 will be a balanced model.
Cameron
Are balanced bats still good for power hitters? dan
Yes, balanced models can still perform very well for power hitters, often allowing a bit better bat speed and the ability to handle more pitch locations easier.
Kyle J.
What is the warranty with this bat? scotty
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4) features a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
John
What is the difference between this year's model and last year's? big Ed
The main difference between the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 and the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 is that the 2018 version has a newly innovated end cap to make the swing weight even more balanced than it was before.
Tyler
I have a 2016 VELO and its a 32"/29 oz and I've been swinging it for about a year and a half now. I don't really like the feel of the VELO anymore and I'm about to buy the Quatro. Should I get a 33" or a 32"? kyler
Unless you feel completely ready to move to a 33"/30 oz size of bat (or that your performance is lowered by swinging the 32"/29 oz size bat), I would recommend going with the same 32"/29 oz size of the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4).
Ben
What is the difference between the 2017 and 2018 models? RMihlebach
The main difference between the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 and the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is that the 2018 now utilizes a newly designed lightweight end cap to reduce swing weight and provide more control.
Tyler
I am 5'11" and 141 pounds. What size bat would you recommend for me? batman
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend using a 32" Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB7Q4).
JP
My son is 5'6 and 115 pound freshman. He is a contact hitter with good strength for his weight. He has the Velo now and likes it, but likes the power of the Quatro he tried. Does the Quatro have more power and would it be a better bat to add or buy another Velo. Murphy
It would be hard for me to say that one bat has more power than the other. However, the two-piece design of the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 causes a whip-like action through the swing zone and results in more inertia and power for your player. I would recommend the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 in a 30 or 31 inch.

I am 5'11" and 155 pounds. I can't decide between the 2018 Demarini Voodoo Insane and this bat. I am a power hitter that bats fourth in the line up. Which bat would you recommend has more pop? What size should I get? Jacob
Given your specifications, I would recommend swinging something along the lines of a 32" 29oz bat. The 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 is going to offer you a balanced swing weight compared to the end loaded swing weight of the Insane. I would not necessarily say that one bat has more "pop" than the other as they are each held to the same performance standard. End loaded bats do typically provide a little bit more on contact, assuming bat speed has not been compromised but they are tougher to control than a balanced bat. Furthermore, power hitters have been successful with each type of swing weight.

My son is a high school baseball player that has now cracked 2 of the Quatro bats in the last year. He loves the bat but I really do not want to continuously deal with trying to replace bat with warranty. Luckily it was still under warranty. Is this a problem with this bat? Is there another bat just like it but with better durability? Tim
It would be hard for us to say whether there is a durability issue with the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 as we do not handle the warranty claims on these bats and thus do not inspect them. As for something that would be similar, there is the LS Prime 918, Easton Ghost X, and DeMarini CF Zen.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
