The 2012 DeMarini CF5 BBCOR has been discontinued. The new 2013 DeMarini CF5 BBCOR: DXCFC Adult is available in a 31/28.
I am a top of the order hitter, so would it be better for me to have this bat or to go with the XL2? Also, is the CF5 any better in performance than the XL2?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5 BBCOR bat and the Easton XL2 BBCOR bat are both two-piece designs. The CF5 is a two-piece fully composite design, so it will require a break-in period and will perform better over time. The Easton XL2 is a two-piece hybrid design that is going to perform better out of the wrapper. The CF5 and the XL2 will provide great performance and high durability with the biggest difference being the construction of the barrel.
My son is 12 and 5'7"/175 lbs. He is a strong hitter with a big, powerful swing. Is the CF 5 the best bat for him and if so, will he be better off with a 33 or 32. He's grown almost 4 inches in the past yr. I'm 6'5"/260.
The CF5 is a great bat with a ton of pop. I think it would be a great choice for your son. Based on his height and weight, I would recommend a 33 inch model.
