Ask A QuestionHow is this years 2012 model different from the blue 2011 model -12 Catalyst?
Both the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst and the 2011 Catalyst are designed with the same high grade composite material. The only difference is the color.
Does it have the new USSSA 1.20 stamp so that it will be legal for 2013? I think it should read USSSA 1.20 on the taper of the bat.
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst: FP12C2 Fastpitch bat does not have the new USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp. The Catalyst has all of the proper markings for ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF making it legal for play in 2012.
My grandaughter doesn't like to use her Catalyst because it stings her hand every hit. Is this a normal thing? Also, will it hurt to use it in batting cages?
Based of customer feedback the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst: FP12C2 Fastpitch bat doesn't have a tendency to sting more than any other bat. As long as you use real leather softballs in the batting cage and stay away from the yellow dimpled cage balls you'll be fine, but I always recommend limiting the amount of usage in the cages.
Product Description
New for 2012! Since 1884, Louisville Slugger has been producing some of the most technologically advanced and highest performing bats in the game. One of their most popular fastpitch bats, the Catalyst, has gotten a facelift and returns as one of the hottest bats on the market! The Catalyst is now made entirely from Louisville Slugger's new LS-2X Composite, which is the same material used on its highest end bats. LS-2X Composite uses new thinner, high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers which allows for reduced wall thickness, creating better performance while maintaining durability. The thinner fibers allow for the use of more layers in the barrel for added strength, but with an overall wall that is thinner with considerably more trampoline effect. The Catalyst is also equipped with S1 iD Technology that allows the barrel to flex to its maximum allowable performance level from SWING 1. Two inner discs are positioned inside the barrel at the sweetspot to stop the barrel from flexing past the legal limit. For players, this means they really do get MAXIMUM allowable performance and a larger performing sweetspot. With a balanced swing weight and a cushioned synthetic grip on the 7/8" standard handle, players will be able to swing the Catalyst with ease. Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The Catalyst is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!
