Questions and Answers
Got a question about the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth? Ask our team of experts, and they will respond within 24 hours.
Ask A QuestionI am a 5'4", 130 lbs, 11 year old power hitter. Currently I have the 2012 Easton S3. I am strong for my age. I am currently deciding between this and the Louisville Slugger Attack. Which bat would you recommend most and in what size.
At your size a 31" bat would be best. The 2013 Louisville Slugger Attack and the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bats will be very similar. Both will be two-piece fully composite designs. The Attack will be very balanced and the XL1 will have a barrel heavy feel to the swing weight. If you are a true power hitter I would go with the Easton XL1.
I'm confused and I have a few questions. My son is 10 years old, 85 pounds, and he does have a pretty quick bat. He takes a lot of batting practice and does face pitchers that throw pretty hard. His BP takes place mostly in an indoor batting cage where it is above 60 degrees with real leather wrapped baseballs. He has dented the S3 three times in the last 4 months. Obviously, the S3 is not working out, but I read that the XL1 may be more likely to break in the colder weather if we play in the fall. Because the S3 is damaged, he is using a cheaper Easton bat from a couple of years ago, and it seems more durable than the newer more expensive ones. Why? Which model do you recommend as far as performance and durability? Also, is there a cheaper bat you recommend for batting practice that has the same weight distribution so he doesn't damage the game bat that you are going to recommend?
The S3 youth is made from a high performance alloy and is designed for youth players. If your son is denting a youth bat, he may need to consider moving up to a senior league (youth big barrel) bat, as they are designed for the increased stresses of larger kids. Finally, I'd take a look at an Easton Reflex for a cage bat, they are a great cage bat.
My son just got this bat. Taking it to a commercial batting cage voids the warranty. What would be an equivalent wood bat that he could take to the cage so he can get some practice swinging this weight? He has a 31"
The MaxBat Pro Series Maple Wood Bat: Youth bat would be a good option for batting cage use. It's one of the lighter youth wood bats on the market, but the 31" model will still weigh about 3 oz. heavier compared to a 31" 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1.
Product Description
New for 2013! The next generation of the Easton XL1 Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The Easton XL1 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty.
