The 2013 Marucci Team: MSBT10 Blue Senior League and 2013 Easton XL3 are both one-piece alloy designs that will perform at comparable levels. The Team comes in a -5 and a -10 and is well balanced than the end loaded XL3, which comes in a -5 and -9. We'd 'recommend a 30" for a player your son's size.
My son is 8 years old. He is 54" tall and 70 lbs. He has slightly above average swing speed and pretty good pop with his small diameter Nike bat. The pitching machine league we just joined allows big barrel bats and I'm looking to upgrade. I got him an Easton Senior League Reflex (SL13RX9) at 29/20 but his swing speed is noticeably slower. I was thinking of getting a bat pack with 29/19 and 28/18 versions of this bat. Would that be a good fit or would you recommend a different bat. Thanks!
Based on his age, size, and described hitting mechanics, a 19 or 18 oz. model would suit him well. The 2013 Marucci Team: MSBT10 is a balanced bat that he should be more comfortable swinging compared to his 20 oz. Easton Reflex.
