Description

For those players that started with a small barrel COMBAT - you will not be disappointed in the all new Portent youth big barrel bat. For those of you that have never experienced the COMBAT difference, here is what you can expect: a swing weight that is right on point, a sweet spot that's almost not even fair, and zero sting/vibration. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. It all starts with COMBAT's Localized Stiffening Technology that allows their engineers to lower barrel wall stiffness on both sides of the normal sweet spot, resulting in an enlarged Double Sweetspot area where absolute maximum performance can be achieved! The 100% composite, one-piece Portent utilizes COMBAT's Blended Fiber Technology that blends several different fibers in varying proportions at carefully controlled angles to create a composite material that results in both resilient durability and increased trampoline effect. Separation Barrier Technology also allows this bat to be HOT out of the wrapper! The Portent draws much of its durability from its Seamless Construction; meaning that there are not cuts or splices - just continuous fiber all the way around. Feel, Durability, and Sweet Spot. That's what makes COMBAT the preferred composite bat. COMBAT: For Players, By Players! The Portent features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Best of both worlds NextLevelBaseball99 coach

Pros: There has great balance with some mass toward the barrel with a light swing weight that gets through the zone and the barrel's mass absolutely crushes the ball. The bat has evenly balance weight for a contact hitter but the barrel has mass like what power hitters like!!!!! Great bat

Cons: Some vibration but, not a lot

ehhh swiggityswaggitygemmemethebattity player

Pros: its general balance is very evenly layed out. so id say this feels like a -7. the bat is horrible to start out with. after 300 swings its improves a lot. the sweetspot is pretty much the whole bat. and if you like stiff bats then youll love this.

Cons: the feel on the bat is pretty bad. i mean its way too stiff for me. itt feels a little dead to begin with. pop isnt close to my xl1. the feel on the xl1 is wayyy better. i prefer the two best bats out there, hte xl1 or the voodoo.

huge sweet spot - big time bombs shane taylor parent

Pros: My 13 year old hit a triple and two doubles this past Saturday with the recently price reduced Combat Portent. His biggest hit of the tournament was a huge fly ball to center field that was caught. The Center fielder was playing deep and he had to run back but the fence was 365 - thus it was his hardest hit out of the season.

Cons: none so far

Popalicious Superstitious player

Pros: This bat is amazing it has great pop and a big sweet spot. If you are having problems with getting jammed this bat is good for you. I have never hit with the drop 10 but I have heard okay things about it. This bat is great for people who have trouble getting through zone and need to switch to a drop 5. ??

Cons: The only thing bad about it is I had practice last night and the paint leaves ball marks on every ball you hit.

Best Bat Ever. combatisawesome player

Pros: This bat feels super light. My teammate has the -5 xl1, and this bat feels 3 ounces lighter. It has amazing pop and a huge sweet spot. It's black so you don't have to worry about it getting too dirty, I have used the cf5, xl1, s1, and mako. This is my favorite bat.

Cons: None. There is only vibration when you hit it in a bad spot, but it's like that with every bat.

Will this bat need a breaking in period, or will it really be "hot out of the wrapper"? How will this bat perform in cold (under 50 degrees) weather? JJR
I still recommend a small break-in period for this bat, maybe like 50 soft toss swings. This bat can break in any temperatures under 55 degrees.

Is this bat better than the XL1? tyroone
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League and the Easton XL1 use top of the line composite materials. Both bats are very high performing. The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League has a more balanced swing weight. The Easton XL1 is end loaded and best for a power hitter.
Kara
My son is 5'5" 130 lbs. and is 14. He is one of the strongest kids on the team. Do you think he should get the 31" 26 oz. or 32" 27 oz.? Do you think this bat is for power or contact hitters? NextLevelLenny99
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League will be a balanced model. It will hit great for contact hitters, yet have the bat stiffness that power guys also will love. At his size I'd use the 31" 26 oz. model.
Brandon
Is this bat very balanced? If so, how is the pop on this bat? Does this bat have any comparison to the 2013 CF5? NextLevelBaseball00
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League will be 100% composite and also be very balanced in swing weight. The 2013 CF5 was also very balanced and 100% composite in design. Both bats will have great performance.

What bat would have greater pop the Portent -5 or -3? David
The performance on the 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League would be better than the Adult BBCOR version. The Senior League bat will have a higher BPF (Bat Performance Factor) than the Adult BBCOR Portent.
Brandon
Is a one piece composite better than two piece composite bats? midog
A one-piece bat is recommended for power hitters and will have a stiffer feel. A two-piece bat is recommended for contact hitters and will offer more flex. One is not better than the other, it mainly depends on the type of hitter and personal preference.
Tori
Is Easton planning on manufacturing a -5 MAKO? kfishedina
No, the 2014 Easton MAKO will not be available in a -5. Easton's -5 bats for 2014 will be the XL1, the XL3 and the S500.
Justin R.
Will this bat have more pop than the XL1? Why don't any college teams use COMBAT if it is so good? vr
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League will be a one-piece, balanced composite bat, whereas the XL1 is a two-piece end loaded bat. The COMBAT will be better suited for a contact hitter, and the XL1 for a power hitter. Most large colleges have agreements with bat manufacturers which limits the type of bats they can use. However, we always have college players swing and love COMBAT products.
Justin R.
Which bat will have more pop the drop 5, 8, or 10 version of this bat ? Wheelz00
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League uses the same composite material in the -5, -8, and -10. There will not be a difference in pop.
Kara
Will this bat outperform last years B3 -5? What is the difference between the two? van
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League uses new composite technology for a higher performing, more balanced feel than the COMBAT B3.
Kara
I'm 5'4 and I'm 13 and weigh 135 pounds. I hit for both contact and power. I need a drop five to transition into a BBCOR bat. Should I get this bat the Voodoo or the XL1? Pete
All three bats are very high performing. The DeMarini Voodoo and the Easton XL1 are both end loaded bats and are designed for a player with quick bat speed. The one-piece design of the 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL105) is also good for a power hitter, but it will be more balanced.
Kara
Is this the new version of the 2013 B4 Portent? Did they dropped the B4 label? T
The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL105) is the bat that replaced the COMBAT B4 Portent. They just dropped the B4 title at the beginning and left the Portent name.
Kelby
How does this bat's sweet spot compare to the new Senior League Easton XL1 -8? Which one is bigger? Alex
The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL105 Senior League) will have a very similar sweet spot size compared with the Easton XL1. The Portent will be a full one-piece design, while the XL1 will be two-piece. Being a one-piece could make the Portent feel more stiff compared to the XL1. Both have exceptional performance.
Brandon
Will this bat feel lighter than the XL1 -5? z
Yes, the 2014 COMBAT Portent (POSL105) Senior League model will feel lighter since it is a balanced design. The Easton XL1 (SL14X15) will have a end loaded swing weight.
John
Are there temperature restrictions for using this bat in cold weather (freezing or near freezing)? Luke
Generally, we do not suggest using the bats in temperatures less than 55 degrees. The cold weather is not necessarily going to harm the bat, however, the balls will become denser in colder weather. The density will increase the chance of the bat becoming dented or defective. It is important to remember that playing in cold weather will increase the risk of causing damage to the barrel. However, the cold weather itself will not harm the bat.
Merritt
If I'm 5 foot 5 and weigh 150 pounds, should I get the drop 8 or drop 5? aye
The drop weight that would be appropriate for you to get would be based on your individual strength. Players of the same size may vary in the development of their swing strength. The best way to tell is to base you decision off of what you have used previously. If you are moving from a -10 or -9 I would suggest moving up gradually to the -8. If you are using a -8 currently than the -5 may be a good transition.
Patrick
How does this bat compare to the -5 DeMarini Vexxum? I know a one-piece is better for power, but what else? tm123
The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL105) will also feature a slightly larger sweet spot and a fully composite design. Both the Portent and the Vexxum are well balanced and super high performing.
Justin R.
Is this bat the same as the yellow portent G3 32/27? If not what is the difference and which one is better. Richard
The COMBAT Portent Senior League Baseball Bat (PORSL105) is very similar to the COMBAT Portent G3. The COMBAT Portent will feature different ant-vibration technology compared to the Portent G3 as well as composite material. Basically, the Portent G3 has upgraded construction when it comes to composite material, anti-vibration technology and grip tape.
