The COMBAT B3 and 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR: PORAB103 Adult bat will have similar designs. The 2014 Portent will actually have better pop and performance though. It will feature COMBAT's precision molding technology (PMT) and seamless construction separation barrier technology for hot out of the wrapper performance.

which bat would you personally recommend? 2014 portent, mako or cf6? C.E.D.
All three bats will be top of the line. The MAKO and CF6 will be equally balanced but the MAKO has an extended barrel. The CF6 has a bigger sweet spot and the D-Fusion handle takes away almost all sting and vibration. The Portent is great because it has good balance but the stiffer swing gives you more control. It has seamless technology so there are no dead spots on the barrel. You really can't go wrong with any of these models.

The 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR: PORAB103 Adult can crack because it is a composite bat. Cracking can happen to any composite bat. We do no recommend using it in a cage with the dimpled balls because it can cause damage to the bat.

The 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR (PORAB103) will be very comparable to the Marucci Elite. Both feature a one-piece fully composite design so they both will have to go through a break in period before it can perform at its best. They both are balanced so it is a great option for contact hitter. Sound wise, they both have a bit of a dulled "ting" sound when a ball makes contact with the barrel. The one-piece design will make both bats feel stiffer on contact with a ball.

Both bats are very high performing. If you prefer a balanced bat the 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR (PORAB103) would be a the best option. If you are power hitter and like an end loaded bat the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD BBCOR (DXVDC) is the best option for you.

Both bats are regulated in the performance they can offer by the BBCOR certification, so any difference in results you may see between models would be caused by your preference to design. Both models are very balanced and should help you achieve higher swing speeds. But the two-piece design of the Wanted will help eliminate vibration on balls that might not be squared up. If you have higher swing speeds, the one-piece design of the 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR (PORAB103) should transfer the energy you create more efficiently on contact. Ultimately, it really comes down to what design you are most comfortable using. One has not been proven to outperform the other.

If you are more of a power hitter, I would suggest going with the 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR because it will incorporate a one-piece design and will use powerful barrel technology to produce very good momentum. The 2014 COMBAT Wanted BBCOR will work well if you are more of a contact hitter, because it will incorporate a two-piece composite design, and will create more flex and durability.

Combat has not given any indication as to why the 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR (PORAB103) has been discontinued. Many times the manufacturer will end production on a certain model to either move to a different design or to start production for the next model year of that series.

As a line drive, contact hitter, I would probably recommend the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR: (BB14S1). The two-piece full composite design is going to provide you with a little bit of extra flex. This model is also going to be extremely balanced, and the even weight distribution will make it easy to generate a fast bat swing through the zone. Overall, I think the structure and technology in this model will fit your game the best.

The COMBAT B3 and the 2014 COMBAT Portent BBCOR (PORAB103) will have a similar one-piece fully composite design. They will both be very balanced in swing weight as well. Either one of these would be a very good choice for a BBCOR hitter.
