Description

There are 3 constants when it comes to slow pitch players and their bats. They want a bat that's hot out of the wrapper, they're always looking for the next best thing, and they prefer either a balanced or end-loaded design. Raw Power is Easton's answer. The Raw Power line features the B-Series that offers evenly balanced designs for controlled power, and the L-Series that offers end-loaded designs for absolute maximum power. Part of the L-Series, the L8.0 has a specific end-load weight called out at the end of its 12 inch barrel: 26oz = 1oz load, 27oz = 2oz load, 28oz = 3oz load. The L8.0 features Easton's unique multi-wall design. The inner core of the L8.0 is made from Easton's IMX Composite that provides phenomenal trampoline, while a THT100 Scandium Alloy outer shell provides serious durability and an optimized sweet spot. The handle is wrapped with an ultra-thin gauze grip that is perfect for players that like tack without the bulkiness of many modern grips. The time is now to bring Raw Power to YOUR game. Easton: Engineered for Glory! The L8.0 features the new ASA stamp and is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Jimbo

Pros: Outstanding aluminum bat. Bat gets checked every game because other team thinks its a composite. Everyone on the team is hitting it and it's holding up well.

Cons: Sounds like a composite which adds to suspicion.

great bat! geezer player

Pros: great feel. I never used an end loaded bat before and I will never go back! Last year I hit 200 (726) points above my usual average mainly because everything I hit was hard. Even a Home Run (not over the fence but about 270 ft which is very long for me (I'm 71) Take a nice quick stroke and this bat will do the rest. Didn't notice a problem with the graphics but as long as it has the certifications on it I couldn't care less. Buy this bat if you can find it! I will buy the new one as a back up if and when it comes out.

Cons: everyone want to use it

Pros: Short break in time, has great pop and a good feel, Great bat to have.

Cons: Graphics look amazing..... until you use the bat, played one tournament and the paint chipped off and made the bat look like it was years older than it was. also the grip wears easily.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton L8.0 Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SP13L8? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I have a couple questions about the 2014 Easton L8.0:SP13L8. First, since this bat has an alloy shell and a composite core, can it be played in colder temperatures and will it be allowed in 2013 leagues? Big J
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch bat is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It also has the newly updated USSSA and ASA stamp. This bat, just like any bat, is going to perform at a lesser rate in colder temperatures. The balls just become more dense and have a heavier feel in colder temperatures.
Brandon
We are playing in all metal league, will the inner core be a problem with our league director? He wants no composites. dingo
We recommend contacting your league director for clarification. An alternative would be an alloy bat like the 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 Slow Pitch.
Kara
Are there any bats with the new ASS stamp banned from play? Big J
No, but if you want to double check you can go to the ASA non-approved bat list website. Here is the link http://www.asasoftball.com/about/build_batlist_w_pics_2000.asp. Take a look at them and see.

How does it compare to the L6.0 and theL 4.0? zblack
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 is a one-piece alloy bat made with Easton's THT100 Scandium Alloy and a IMX Composite inner core. The 2014 Easton L6.0: SP13L6 is a one-piece full composite bat made from Easton's IMX Composite. The 2014 Easton L4.0 Brett Helmer Pro Model: SP13L4 is a one-piece full composite bat with a IMX Composite barrel and a SIC Black Carbon Composite handle. All are endloaded bats and all have the new ASA stamp.
Tyler
Is this bat a single wall model? Sharpie
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch bat features a multi-wall barrel construction. The outer shell of the barrel is made of the THT100 Scandium Alloy while the inner core is composed of the IMX Composite material.
Mac
Since this bat has an IMX composite inner core, can this bat still be considered an aluminum bat? BigAl
Yes, it is considered One-Piece THT100 Scandium Alloy Outer Shell With IMX Composite Inner Core. If you are curious as to if it is legal for your league I would go ahead and ask your league official.
Brandon
Can I get this bat balanced? jb
Currently, there is no balanced version of the 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch bat.
Kevin
Is it ok to hit .44, 375 softballs with this bat? jay
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch bat features the new ASA stamp and is designed for the lower compression balls (50 or 52 COR). Bats certified under the new testing will be more susceptible to cracks or dents if used with the higher compression softballs (44 or 47 COR).
Mac
Can I play fast pitch softball with the L8? tony
I would not recommend using The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch in fastpitch play.
John H
How does this bat compare to the Easton SP13S2? I've been thinking about getting that but also saw this bat. dyson defense
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch is a one-piece alloy bat with a composite inner core with an end loaded swing weight. The Easton SP13S2 is a fully composite bat with a balanced swing weight.
Kara
Should I buy the 2014 Miken Ultra 750X Maxload or the 2014 Easton L8.0? maik
Both the 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch and 2014 Miken Ultra 750X Maxload ASA: SULTMA Slow Pitch are end loaded models, both of which receive great reviews. The design is considerably different, as the L8.0 is a one-piece alloy design with a composite inner tube, while the Ultra 750X Maxload ASA is a one-piece composite design.
Katie
How much of an endload is there? jeff
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch has an ounce end load on the 26 oz.. The 27 oz. has a two ounce end load and the 28 oz. has a 3 oz. end load.
Kara
Can this bat be used in the indoor batting cages? jeff

Tori
Will Easton be coming out with a new L8 in the next few months? I hear they release their new models in February. michael
Easton is scheduled to release the new 2014 Easton L8.0 (SP13L8) March 1st.
Kara
What does the 8 stand for? I realize the L is for end loaded but I'm unsure as to what the number after the L represents? nassman
The 2014 Easton L8.0: SP13L8 Slow Pitch has a specific end-load weight called out at the end of its 12 inch barrel: 26oz = 1oz load, 27oz = 2oz load, 28oz = 3oz load.
Brandon
Is this the same bat as last year's L8? Has Easton made any modifications to it at all? swinger
The 2014 Easton L8.0 (SP13L8 Slow Pitch) bat was released in 2013 by Easton. This was the first edition. The new L8.0 for 2015 will release soon coming at the end of April. They will feel very similar in swing weight and design.
Brandon
What are the differences between the Easton L8.0 and L5.0? Mike
The 2014 Easton L8.0 (SP13L8) features a multi-wall construction with an alloy THT100 outer shell and an IMX composite inner core. This means that the L8.0 will be good to go right out of the wrapper. The L5.0 will not be considered a multiwall design, it just features a one-piece IMX composite barrel. Due to the composite barrel, it will have to go though a break in period before it will see it's best performance.
Tessa
Where is the sweet spot on this bat? Mike
The sweet spot on this bat (like any other) will start about 1-1.5" or so from the end of the bat and extends to about 1-1.5" from where the bat starts to taper down to the handle.
