Pros: This bat has the most pop of any bat I have used. It feels in between the s1 and the xl1. Cons:My whole team wants to use it.

2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth review by Fortheloveofthegame
Pros: The Mako feels more end loaded like the XL1. It virtually feels just like the XL1 but 1 ounce lighter. When my son hit both the Mako and XL1 on the sweet spot, the XL1 flew farther. My recommendation is that if you are strong enough to swing the XL1, get the XL1. If you need your bat a little lighter get the Mako or XL2 or XL3 to save some dough. If you need more swing speed, stick to the S Series. Cons:None. Great bat for the person that can't quite swing the XL1 but the S series is too light for.

I know this bat is a new bat and just cleared by the Little League Association for play. I am afraid to buy a $300 bat and the bat gets banded from Little League when I need it during tournament? Can you guarantee that LL will not band this bat? It is new and they may find a flaw and claim it does not pass their criteria after extended tests? please dont think I am crazy, I got the money for the bat, it is not cheap, I need to know my team can use it all the way through All-Stars. Last year our opponents all had composite bats they killed us with half a swing. We could have won the entire tournament. I want some composite action too.

To our knowledge this bat the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is approved for Little League because it has the stamp on the bat. They will not band this bat for any reason throughout the year.

Is the mako a contact bat? My son has power and hits home runs. Should I get the mako or if not, what else?

The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth can be used by both contact and power hitters. If your power hitter does not prefer an end loaded design, the high performance balanced design with massive sweet spot that the Mako features will work just fine for what they need. If they do prefer an end-loaded design I would suggest checking out the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1). It will be the most similar to the Mako in terms of design but will feature an end-loaded swing weight.

My son currently uses the Voodoo 2014 bat size 30" 17 oz. He wants the MAKO. I was thinking 29" 18 oz would be the best size for him. Do you agree? He just turned 9, is 4' 5" and weights 90 lbs.

Based on his height and weight, we suggest moving up to a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth.
