Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The S1 features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Good Bat Person player

Pros: When I got it, it was a great bat. It had a lot of pop and it never vibrated.

Cons: After about two weeks it totally died and all the pop went away. Even when I squared up with it it wouldn't be a hard or far hit.

Easton S1 2 5/8 Barrel TinyTimTheCatcher player

Pros: I really like the easton s1's but this big barrel model just does not have as much pop as the 2 1/4 in barrel diameter s1. Also it loses it's pop much, much earlier. Still a good bat but consider the above.

Cons: Read above

Best Youth Bat on The MARKET! CB player

Pros: I swung this bat when I was in 12u and it was the BEST! Right out of the box there was tons of pop! Even with the big barrel and the small handle it had, the bat felt weightless! Rip it out of the box and go have some fun!

Cons: The look on peoples faces when you tell people they can't use it!

I have a 13 year old who is about 5'6" & weighs about 165. He was at a hitting clinic this past weekend & was told by one of the instructors that he has quick hands for his age. He also has a lot of power. Would you recommend the S1 or the XL series for him? Randy
The 2014 Easton S1: SL14S110 Senior League is a balanced two-piece bat and is best suited or a contact hitter. The Easton XL1 is end loaded, and best for a power hitter.
Kara
How would you compare the 2014 Easton S1 to the DeMarini CF6? compare
The 2014 Easton S1: SL14S110 Senior League and the 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFX Senior League are both very high performing bats. The two-piece design is ideal for a contact hitter. Both bats are very balanced. The CF6 features new composite material that allows the bat to be more game ready and also has anti-vibration technology. Both bats have approximately the same barrel length.
Kara

Does this have the same handle as the MAKO composite bat? Which bat has a bigger sweet spot/barrel? The MAKO or the S1:SL14S110? FK
Both the 2014 Easton S1: SL14S110 Senior League bat and the 2014 MAKO Senior League bat would have a great sweet spot and performance. The MAKO will have a more extended barrel length compared the S1. The handle piece will feel similar to one another.
Brandon
Is this bat approved for PONY League? If it is, what on the bat will verify that approval? double d
The 2014 Easton S1: (SL14S110) Senior League bat is approved for PONY play. This bat has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and features the USSSA BPF 1.15 performance certification. PONY limits the barrel size to 2 5/8" at the max for all divisions, and shouldn't restrict the length to weight ratio or materials that are approved. However, it's always best to check with a coach or league official to ensure your bat is approved for your particular division.
Mac
Does the S1 and the XL1 have the same barrel size? Kyle
The 2014 Easton S1: SL14S110 Senior League bat will have a barrel diameter of 2 5/8". The Easton XL1 will have the same barrel diameter but will have an overall longer barrel length compared to the S1.
Brandon
Which has a bigger barrel, the B4 Portent or the S1? Gino
The length of the barrel on the 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) is slightly longer than on the COMBAT B4 Portent (B4SL1) -10 Senior League bat. The barrel diameter would depend on whether you choose the 2 3/4" or 2 5/8 size.
Patrick
Can you use this bat in Bath Ruth 13-15? baseballGod
The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) Senior League is not legal for play in Babe Ruth 13-15, because it is a two-piece composite design and does not feature the BBCOR certification stamp. All composite barrel bats in Babe Ruth 13-15 require the BBCOR certification stamp.
Jason

Jason

Tori
Is this bat approved for Little League Juniors 12-14 Years old? Greg
The 201 Easton S1 (SL14S110) would not be approved for the Little League Juniors 12-14 year old division. In that division, any composite barrel bat like the S1 must be BBCOR certified. The model number for the BBCOR certified S1 is BB14S1. It will be much heavier with a drop three length to weight ratio rather than the drop ten Senior League model.
Patrick
Where can I find a bat that is -5, 2 5/8 inch barrel, 31" and 21 oz.? Big man
We do have that bat in the same dimensions you are looking for but not in a -5. To find the drop (-) it is the length minus the width. The bat above would be in a -10.
Zach
My son is 10. He is 5' and weighs 105 lbs. He is not chubby but solidly built and dense. Recommendation for series (XL or S) and length and weight? studysmart
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X18) is an end loaded bat and designed for a power hitter. The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) has a more balanced swing weight and better for a player that needs to increase their bat speed, Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" bat.
Kara
Can this bat be used for 50/70 Little League? nate
The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) Senior League is no legal for play in Little League Intermediate (50/70). All composite barrel bats in Little League Intermediate (50/70) are required to have the BBCOR .50 certification stamp.
Jason
Is the 2014 Easton S1 available in -5? Charlie
The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) is not available in the drop -5 at this time. However, we do carry the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) in a -5. It will be fairly similar, except this particular model will be more end-loaded, whereas the 2014 Easton S1 will be more balanced.
Merritt
I bought this bat for my 8 year old son and he absolutely loves it. My other son who is 9 years old is an athlete in the Special Olympics and about to play Special Olympic Softball. Could this bat be used for softball without damaging the bat? shark_attack@gmx.com
The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) could be used in softball without damaging the bat.
Kara
My son plays in a 12 and under league and will play 45-50 games this year. How long should this bat last for this age level? A few of the boys on his team also use his bat and he is concerned the bat will be 'dead' quickly. Tim
There is no set time period or number of hits that are in a certain bat. Too many factors go into the durability of the bat to be able to estimate the lifespan. The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) is an extremely durable composite bat but with extended use, all bats can see durability issues or a decline in performance. There are ways to help expand the lifespan of the bat. Having just your player use the bat rather than allowing teammates to use the bat as well will help limit the wear and tear it faces. Also, using the bat in only game situations and having a separate bat for batting practice will help prolong the lifespan. We also recommend not using the bat in weather below 55 degrees. The baseball can condense and become harder at this point and this could damage the bat. Lastly, we do not recommend using the bat to hit anything but approved baseballs. Training balls or yellow dimpled cage balls can cause damage to the bat that can shorten the lifespan.
Patrick
Can this bat be used in machine pitch baseball league? He is 7 Years old. dale
The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) should be legal for a machine pitch league as long as your league allows the big barrel bats.
Kelby
My son plays 14u baseball, but he is very small. He is 4'9" and 80 lbs. obviously he is more of a contact hitter. What bat and bat size would you recommend? Thank you. Huntbunch
According to your son's height and weight I would recommend a 30" length in the 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110). I would recommend going with the Easton S1 (SL14S110) because it offers a low M.O.I. and balanced swing weight that works very well for contact hitters.
Zach
What is the difference in this bat and the XL1? My son really loves the XL1. What can I tell him the difference is? john
The Easton S1 (SL14S110) and the Easton XL1 (SL14X18) is are both two-piece composite bats. The difference would be that the Easton S1 (SL14S110) is a balanced swing weight and the Easton XL1 (SL14X18) is an end loaded swing weight.
Zach
I'm going into 13U travel baseball. I'm not the strongest, but I have great bat speed. I was trying to decide between the Easton S1 or the XL1. Which has more durability? Andrew
The biggest difference between the the 2014 Easton S1: (SL14S110) and the 2014 Easton XL1 (Sl14X18) is going to be the weight distribution. Overall, both models will be very similar in durability. However, if your game reflects the style of a contact hitter, I would probably suggest the 2014 Easton S1: (SL14S110), because it will be very balanced. The 2014 Easton XL1 (Sl14X18) will work great for a power hitter because of the end-load that is incorporated at the end of the barrel.
Merritt
Should my son switch to an XL1? He is a line drive hitter who wants more mass. Derick
The 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) features a balanced swing weight, which is great to work on bat speed and bat control. The XL1 features an end loaded swing weight, which is typically preferred by power hitters. If your son is looking to add more mass, going with an end loaded bat would be an option to check out. A heavier bat will slow down his bat speed, so if he can generate great bat speed, in addition to the end load, that should allow for more distance. If he struggles with bat speed and is on the smaller side, going to an end loaded bat can cause hitching or looping in his swing. The choice will depend on your son, his strength, and his bat speed.
Tessa
which bat has a bigger sweet spot a easton s1 or a easton s2 tim
The Easton S1 has a composite barrel, so it will be a higher performing bat.
Damon
Which bat from the 2014 S Series is best for a contact hitter? Cruz
That will be a matter of preference. The 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) is the top of the line model, with its two-piece fully composite design. The S2 is a two-piece hybrid, so it has an alloy barrel and composite handle. The S3 is a one-piece fully alloy design. All three bats feature very balanced swing weights, so the best bat for you will come down to your own bat preferences (one-piece vs. two-piece; composite vs. alloy).
Tessa
Which bat is more balanced the S2 or the S1? Jim
Since the S2 and the 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) are both two-piece designs they should feel the same. Also, both are part of Easton's Speed Series and should have the same swing feel.
Brandon
How do I break-in this bat? Cruz
For composite models like the 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110), we recommend 150-200 hits off a batting tee or soft toss. It"s best to start off at about 40% power, and gradually increase. Also, be sure to rotate the bat a quarter of turn in your hands after every hit.
John H
My son will be turning 12 in October. He is 60" tall and weighs 120 lbs. Would this bat be suitable for him? Or should I purchase a 31"? Grommer
I think the 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat: (SL14S110) will work just fine for him in a 31".
Merritt
Is this bat legal for Babe Ruth? hill
The 2014 Easton S1 Senior League (SL14S110) would not be legal for Babe Ruth league play.
Kelby
Is this bat legal for Dixie Baseball ages 11/12? CB
If you're referring to the "O-Zone" Divison of Dixie Youth baseball, the 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) should be legal. But concerning bat legality, it is best to check with a coach or league official to be certain.
Mac
would a S1 be better than an XL1 for lead off hitters not power hitters? shane
Yes, the 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) is going to be designed for a contact or gap hitter to increase bat speed. The Easton XL1 is going to be end loaded and will be designed for a power hitter.
Sean
Would this bat be legal for the Intermediate division of Little League? The rules state composite bats need to be BBCOR certified; not sure if this bat meets the standard. Chris
This 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) is not approved for the Intermediate (50/70) Division of Little League baseball. All BBCOR bats will have a length to weight ratio that does not exceed -3 and a barrel diameter that does not exceed 2 5/8". The barrel size is fine on this (SL14S110), but it's a -10 model. The bat rules in that division essentially eliminate the possibility of using a bat with a composite barrel for some of the younger players. If you're set on a -10 model, the Easton S2 would be approved for that Division with its alloy barrel.
Mac
My son has entered a high level travel team and now they are allowing big barrel bats. My son uses an Easton S2 (29" 16 oz -13) bat. I am very interested in the best Easton big barrel bat for him, but I am not sure on the bat size. He is 8 years old, 56" tall and 73 lbs. Hes a great contact hitter and I'm afraid if I go too heavy that it might effect his swing. Can you please send me in the right direction for a bat and size? JLeeB
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 29" bat. The 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) is a very solid option. However, a better fit for him might be the 2014 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MKB). The MAKO has a lighter swing weight and a slightly longer barrel for a bigger sweet spot.
Jason
Is the S1 Senior League composite bat hot out of the wrapper or is there a break in period? If there is a break in period, what is recommended? Jack
The 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110) will require a break in period. For bats with composite hitting surfaces, we recommend 150-200 hits off a batting tee or soft toss. It"s best to start off at about 40% power, and gradually increase. Also, be sure to rotate the bat a quarter of turn in your hands after every hit.
Kelby
My son is about to turn 11 and he is a line drive hitter with some power. Looking for a balanced bat and can't decide between the S1 or the Mako senior league big barrel. Paul
The 2014 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S110) is balanced bat for a contact hitter. The Easton Mako is going to be a balanced bat like the Easton S1; along with having the long barrel like the Easton XL series.
