Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its third season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece THT100 Scandium Alloy/SIC Black Carbon hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Engineered for Glory! The S2 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Perfect for my 7 years old. Ash parent

Pros: My son loves this one more than Easton Reflex or Combat B2. I can see more this one has a lots of pops and his swing is much more balanced. They said this one is only bat speed but not for power but I think it has a power also. Not as much XL1 tho but my son is more contact hitter and still young. Eventually we will step up to XL1 or Mako.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat: YB14S2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 11 years old, 58", and 85 lbs. He is a decent contact hitter, but does not have much power. He is insisting on a 31" bat and says he needs a little longer bat than his current 30" bat. Would the Easton S2 31" 18 oz. be a good bat for him? Clgriff
The 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth would be a good choice for a contact hitter because it will be light weight and balanced. Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend staying at a 30'', but if he feels he can swing a 31'' with the same speed that would be a good choice. For more information on sizing please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tori
Which bat has the lighter swing weight the S2 or the MAKO? co
The 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth bat and the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth bats will both have very balanced and light swing weights. They will feel very similar. The MAKO will have a more extended barrel length.
Brandon
My son is 9 years old, 56" and 75 lbs. He is a line drive hitter with limited power. I am looking for a bat with more pop. Would the S2 30" 17 oz. be a good choice? Also, his bat speed is not a problem, would a 31" 18 oz. be too much for him? What do you recommend? jmarc
The 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth is a great choice for a line drive hitter. It is a balanced bat, great for a player with limited power. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 17 oz.. bat.
Kara
I am look at the Easton composite bats but they all have different specs to them. What kind of bat is the best for my son? He is 12 years old, 59 inches tall and weighs 85 pounds. He also hits line drives a lot which makes him not a very big hitter. Dev
Two-piece bats such as the 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth and the 2014 Easton S1: YB14S1 Youth are balanced and designed for a line drive hitter. Either bat would be a great choice.
Kara
My son just made the 9U travel baseball team and we're looking to getting him a new bat. He is 51" and 58 lbs. More of a contact hitter with good bat speed, but gets it into the outfield when he makes good contact. Currently using Easton Reflex. Looking into the Easton S2 and DeMarini Voodoo Paradox. Thoughts? jh
The 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth is a balanced two-piece bat and is designed for a contact hitter. The DeMarini Voodoo is also a two-piece bat, but it is end loaded. The Voodoo is better suited for a power hitter.
Kara
Is there a huge difference between using big barrel bats and youth bats? lara
A youth bat like the 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth will have a small 2 1/4" barrel diameter. A Senior League big barrel bat will have a 2 5/8" or a 2 3/4" barrel diameter. It will give the hitter a larger hitting surface compared to a youth bat.
Brandon
My son liked his Youth Easton XL2 last year, but the Youth XL2 does not seem to be available this year. Does the S2 have the same elongated barrel as the XL2? Richard
You're correct in that the XL2 has been discontinued for the 2014 product line, and there isn't exactly a direct replacement for it. This 2014 Easton S2: (YB14S2) Youth is made from the same materials as the XL2, but it does not have an extended barrel. The S2 is much more balanced and is designed for players looking for higher swing speeds.
Mac
What is the difference between S1, S2, S3 and 1,2,3 of the XL Easton bats? Do they have different purposes, if so, what are they? doug
The Easton Speed Series line of bats and XL-Series of bats will both be very player specific. The S-Series will be very light weight and balanced. The XL-Series will be more barrel heavy and designed for a power hitter. In both series the 1 will be a two-piece composite design. The 2 will be a half and half design, like the 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth. The 3 will be a one-piece full alloy design.
Brandon
Does the 2014 S2 need to be broken in? Toreros7
The 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) Youth does not require a break-in period because it has an alloy barrel.
Jason
What is the difference between the 2014 S2 and the 2013 S2? Ball Mom
The 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) will be very similar to the 2013 model. Performance wise, they will be very comparable. The only differences will be cosmetic.
Tessa L.
I was considering this bat for my 8 year old son. I have read reviews over the net about using these bats and other expensive bats in batting cages. Can you help clear the air and let me know if it's safe to use this bat at batting cages or will it damage it? People say the balls they use at cages can damage bats. Please help me understand. Thanks! AJ
The 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) has an alloy barrel and can be used in a batting cage. Composite barrel bats should not be used in a batting cage.
Kara
Is this bat a composite or hybrid? frankie
The 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) Youth is the Hybrid design. It has a composite handle and an alloy barrel.
Aaron
Can I return my 2013 Easton S2 (that is broken and I already returned once) for the 2014 Easton S2? Dylan
Unfortunately, warranties are almost always one-time guarantees, so you will not be able to return the bat for a 2014 model. Manufacturer warranties will replace one bat that is damaged within the warranty period, which is generally one year. However, replacement bats that are sent out are typically not covered under such warranties. You can try contacting Easton to see if there is anything in the warranty contract that may help you.

I was thinking about buying the Easton S2 bat for my son. He is 8 years old and about 47 inches tall. He weighs 72 pounds. Do you think the 28 inch 15 ounce would be a good size? Steve
Based on your player's height and weight, we would agree that the 28 inch size of the 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) would be a good size for him.
Patrick
Hi, my son is on the 8u travel team and is 52 inches tall and 54 lbs. He's a good line drive hitter with some pop. He tried a Voodoo bat but the heavy barrel caused him to drop his shoulder. Was thinking about the Easton S2 or S3, 28"/15 oz. What do you think? Also, is the S2 worth the extra money? What's the benefit? Daniel
The 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) and the 2014 Easton S3 (YB14S3) are both great choices. The main difference between the two will be the two piece hybrid design of the S2 will reduce vibrations to the hands and create more whip through the zone.
Bobby
I was thinking about buying the 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2). My kid is about 5'10". Do you think the 31" 18 oz is the right size? BigMac
The best way to determine the correct bat size for a player is based on their height and weight. However, a 5'10" player is usually swinging a 32" model in the 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) Youth. For more sizing information check out our Bat Coach http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
Hi, what is the difference between the Easton S1 and the S2? tutuy
The major difference between the 2014 Easton S1 Youth and the 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2 Youth) is the way they are designed. The S1 is a two-piece fully composite bat. The S2 is a two-piece half and half bat. It will have a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Both will be very balanced and easy to swing.
Brandon
Why has this bat been discontinued? Rossco
The 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) Youth bat has been discontinued because Easton is planning to release their 2015 product line closer to September and are no longer producing 2014 models.
Mac
Where can I get a 27" 15 oz.? I can not find one anywhere. Why are you discontinuing this bat? What's its replacement? Taxi
The 2014 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S2) is being discontinued due to Easton releasing their line of 2015 bats. It's replacement will be a 2015 S2 Youth bat. You may be able to find a 27/15 size by calling Easton at 1-888-259-1297.
Brandon
My son is 4'6" and 75 lbs. What size does he need? Also, what is the difference between the 2014 and 2015 models? Brad
For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S2) in a 29" 16 oz. model. Unfortunately, this model has been discontinued and we no longer have it in stock, so you would have to consider the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat: YB15S2 in a 29" 16 oz. model. Additionally, the 2014 model featured the THT100 Scandium alloy, while the 2015 model features the Hyperlite Matrix alloy. There is also a difference in the cosmetic look of the bat.
Joe
My son is 4 foot 6 inches, weights 75 pounds, what size bat do you recommend? Also, what is difference between 2014 model and 2015 model? Brad
Based on your sons height and weight we recommend getting a 29 inch in the Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S2). The difference between the two models is mostly cosmetic updates.
