Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. The Easton S3 Youth Baseball Bat! Now in its third season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece THT100 Scandium Alloy/SIC Black Carbon hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Engineered for Glory! The Easton S3 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Skeptical turned believer! M parent

Pros: My son was swinging a 29" -11oz. bat on gamedays, he was singing a 30" wooden bat at practice to get his bat speed up. This morning after one-on-one practice, I felt he was ready for a step up. I was debating on an S2 or S3. I decided to go with the S3 because of the solid construction. After I broke it in for him, he took some swings, and man those baseball were flying off that bat. Its lightweight, balanced feel, you really don't feel the POP because the ball flies off the bat so fast, you just notice the ball in the air. Awesome bat, Dads, take a chance, this bat is worth it! Cant wait for his first game with this bat.

Cons: Baseball season is not year round.

S3 Scott parent

Pros: This is a very good one peice alloy bat. It has a great sound off the barrel, mild sting on the hands ( can sting pretty good if hit low barrel ). The bat has good pop out of the box. The swing weight is very light, and has a very stiff feel. My son also likes the look of the bat.

Cons: The cons of the bat are, it might be a little to light depending on the batter. Also I had to warranty my sons bat after about 600 hits or so due to denting.

Easton S3 YB13S3 (-13) 31 Bill Heath Lompoc, CA parent

Pros: Time to see what this thing can do. My son is 8 and is a good contact hitter already with a much lesser Easton Octane and a Nike FX-1 at the moment. Most of his outs are lasers to either short or second where the fielder is almost catching it in self defense. Hoping this will give it that little extra pop to either drop in over on liners or clear the outfielders on the fly for balls he gets more underneath of. Hoping with patience he will settle down and stop trying to put it in the stands and let that come with size and age as that 200' fence is a far stretch for most 8yr olds to clear on the fly.

Cons: none so far

2 1/4 inch bats - 2nd Easton Bat with dent issues Ron coach

Pros: Price, Bat Style - Light - great feel - everyone on the team seems to like it.

Cons: 1st Game in 12U - Players on the Team wanted to use my son's bat and for the 2nd year in a row (2013 model and this year now the 2014 model) - the first player to use the bat - put a nice size dent in it. Love the 2 3/4 inch Easton bats for tournament ball, but going to go away from the EASTON 2 1/4 inch ones we use for little league. Will look for another manufacturer to get 2 1/4 inch bats from (Demarini or other).

Great Pop but will dent. Dad and Coach parent

Pros: The bat has great pop and nice sound, light swing weight.

Cons: Bat dented after a couple hundred hits. Another kid on the team dented his as well after the first round of batting practice. Won't purchase this bat again, going back to composite. If using for coach pitch the bat is fine, but hitting off of a pitching machine at 40mph+ can cause it to dent.

contact hitters!!! Go Mets player

Pros: This bat is extremely quick through the zone. I would recommend this bat for mainly contact hitters. The bat is extremely light, and it has a great feel.

Cons: This bat dented twice. It does not have as much pop as an XL.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB14S3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is it 2 pieces or 1 piece? big dawg
The Easton S3 is a one-piece all alloy design.
John
What is the difference between the Easton YB14S2 S2 and the Easton YB14S3 S3? Lar
The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth is a one-piece alloy design. The 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth is a two-piece hybrid design with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The S3 will have more of a stiff feel, while the S2 will flex due to the composite handle.
Katie
My son will be 7 when baseball season starts. He is 4'4" and weighs 60lbs. Would the YB14S3 or the YB14S2 be better for him? Tank
The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth is a one-piece alloy, where as the S2 is a two-piece with an alloy barrel and composite handle. Both will be light weight and balanced and would be a good choice for a 7 year old.
Tori
How does this compare to the XL3 model? Ruth_Baberton
The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth is made from the same alloy material and features the same one-piece alloy design as the XL3 model. However, the S3 is a very balanced bat while the XL3 features an extended barrel length which gives the bat a slightly end loaded swing weight. Both bats are certified with the same BPF 1.15 performance restriction.
Mac
My son is 9, but a big 9 (weighs about 108 lbs) and is a power hitter. I was told by a few of his coaches to get the Easton S3, and one of them recommended the 29". (He used a 28" 18 oz. last year.) Isn't there an S3 that is 29" 19 oz.? sportzjunkee
The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth is available in a 29" 16 oz. The youth big barrel model: 2014 Easton S3: SL14S310 Senior League is available in a 29" 19 oz. If his league allows big barrel bats we recommend the S3, youth big barrel.
Kara
Our 7 year old son is 49" tall and 50 lbs. We live in Iowa and begin outdoor kid-pitch baseball in March. Temperatures can be cool (50's and low 60's) and play through the end of July. We've looked on your site at the S1, S2, S3 and the MAKO bat. Our son prefers a balanced bat (not heavy on the end) and we've had good experiences with Easton bats so far. Considering he's 7, we're not sure about spending $279 for the MAKO. Considering his size, the climate he plays in, and wanting to stay in the $200 and below price range, what bat would you recommend? IowaBaseballGuy
The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth or the S2 Youth would be great bats for him at his age and size. They both would swing very balanced and not feel barrel heavy at all.
Brandon
Which bat has more pop? The S3, S500C or DeMarini Vexxum? Dan
The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth bat along with the S500C and the Vexxum will have great pop and performance.
Brandon
I am 5 foot and weigh 120 lbs. I would like to know what bat size I should get? joejoe
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 30" 2014 Easton S3 (YB14S3).
Kara
I am 4'11" and weigh 75 lbs, what length bat and ounce should I have Lexi
We suggest using a 30" bat and if moving to a Senior League bat a -10.
Aaron
Which delivers more pop - the composite or alloy? What length do you recommend for a 10-year old who is 4'9" and 70 pounds? He's a good contact hitter but doesn't have a lot of power. richard
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" 2014 Easton S3 (YB14S3). Composite materials tend to have more pop than alloy because the composite material acts as a trampoline. The more the composite is used the farther the ball bounces. However, composite does take longer to break in. The Easton S3 has excellent pop for an alloy bat and does not require a break in period. Alloy is less expensive to manufacture and therefore, costs less. The Easton S3 is a stiffer bat, better for a player with some power.
Tessa L.
What size and length would you recommend for a boy of 4'10'' and 115 lbs? shug

What's the difference between The s2,and the s3series Loop
The 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth is going to have a two piece hybrid composition incorporating both alloy and composite materials. The 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth is going to be a one piece alloy design. Both bats will be balanced, however, the primary construction of materials will be the biggest difference between these two series.
Merritt
I am 12 years old and 5' 2" 100 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? big c
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the 2014 Easton S3 (YB14S3) Youth.
Jason

I am 4 feet 7 inches tall and weigh 72 pounds. What size bat should I get? Other guy
For a player that size we would typically suggest a 29" 2014 Easton S3 (YB14S3). You may also be able to go up or down one inch depending on your strength and comfort level.
