It really depends on the design that you prefer as to which is better. Both bats are very balanced, but the 2014 Easton S3 BBCOR: BB14S3 Adult is a one-piece alloy while the S2 is a two-piece hybrid (alloy barrel with a composite handle). The two-piece design helps create some additional trampoline effect for players with average swing speeds, but the one-piece design transfers energy to the ball more efficiently. To help with the decision, I would reflect on the bats you have used in the past with the most success.

The 2014 Easton S3 BBCOR (BB14S3) Adult bat features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter while the S4 offers the slightly smaller 2 1/2" barrel diameter. The S4 is specifically designed for smaller players who are looking for a slightly more balanced bat. The S4 should allow you to reach slightly higher swing speeds than the S3, but the S3 is a very light swinging bat as well. You would be sacrificing 1/8" in diameter in hitting surface with the S4, but it's hard to say which you would feel more comfortable using until you were able to feel the swing weight of each yourself.

It is generally going to be a trial and error process when figuring out what exact size fits comfortably for the player. The general recommendation is what most average players a certain height and weight use. However, there will always be exceptions.

Should I get this bat, the VELO, or the RIP-IT? Which one has the most pop but is also very balanced? I bat third in the line up for a 14U majors team. You can't go wrong with this bat I would suggest it in a 30" 27 oz.. Another Easton bat I would suggest is the Easton S4 (BB14S4 Adult). Easton S4 comes in a smaller barrel size in a 2 1/4" compared to a 2 5/8 barrel size in the Easton S3 (BB14S3 Adult). With that comes a little bit quicker bat speed. In the Easton S4 (BB14S4 Adult) I would suggest a 29" 26 oz..

This 2014 Easton S3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14S3) will be a pretty good replacement for the Redline. Both are balanced, one-piece alloy designs. But the C500 would have been regulated by the BESR performance regulation (if I'm thinking of the correct model) which is much less restrictive than the new BBCOR regulation. The difference in performance will be quite noticeable. But the structure and quality of this S3 would be comparable.
