2014 Easton S500 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL14S500 review by Bill Johnson
Pros: This is a good balanced bat which increases swing speed. I would rate the pop a 7 out of 10, which is better than most yet not as good as others, but overall, one can produce solid contact with a smooth swing, and a comfortable feel. It has good enough pop compared to other Easton bats. paint looks good out of the box, but like most, ball marks will show. a quick wipe down solves that. great for the contact hitter and produces enough pop for that style hitter. Cons:not the flashiest graphics, but that's not what's important. pop is decent, definitely good enough for a contact hitter. Pure power swingers who use their hips and drive through the ball might be better served by something a little more end loaded.

2014 Easton S500 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL14S500 review by person who used bat now saving for voodoo paradox
Pros: the bat is really cheap for a big barel bat. preatty balancdd swing weight. Cons:grip wheres down fast, lots of pop out of the wrapper bat after a few days if light hitting it droped from a 8/10 to a 6/10. the sweet spot is not very big. but at least the vibration is only bad of the way inside handle

How long is the barrel?

Unfortunately, we don't receive barrel lengths from the manufacturer. Since the 2014 Easton S500 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S500) is a balanced bat, generally, the length will be about 10-11".

Has there been any feedback as far as performance is concerned comparing this bat to the Reflex? I know this is the "newer" model, but sometimes the older models perform better.

At this current time, we have not had a lot of feedback on the 2014 Easton S500 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S500) to adequately compare both the performance and durability to the older model Reflex. Both bats are manufactured from the 7050 Aircraft alloy material, so they will perform very similarly to each other.

My son is starting middle school baseball. I'm confused about which bats are legal. Can they use BBCOR bats or USSSA 1.15 BPF certified bats?

The 2014 Easton S500 (SL14S500 Senior League) would come with the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. As far as middle school is concerned, rules are different all over the country. It is best to check with a coach or league director. The BBCOR bats are more restrictive and lower performing than the USSSA 1.15 BPF bats. You will not have an issue using a BBCOR bat in your league due to the more restrictive guidelines, but they are significantly heavier than the USSSA models. If you can use them, I would highly suggest a USSSA certified bat over a BBCOR for a middle school athlete.
