Great bat for the price! RJ parent

Pros: My 8 year old, 4' 3" 72 lbs playing his 4th season coach pitch loves this bat. Going from other bats, brands in the $40-$50 range this one was a huge improvement. Line drive doubles in the outfield gap and hard hit ground balls through the infield are now common. We live in south florida so don't know how the bat would perform in cooler weather.

Cons: None so far.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat: YB14S500C? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this compare to the 2014 Brigade S3? Chris
The Easton S500C will have a -12 drop while the Easton S3 will feature a -13 drop. The S500C will use Easton's 7050 aircraft alloy while the S3 will use a higher performing THT100 alloy.
John
Is this the same bat that is used in the Little league World Series this year? My son saw an orange bat that the players were using and I am curious if this is the same bat but only in orange? Is the orange bat an alloy or a composite? Thank you. Coach T
The 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth bat is not the orange bat from the Little League World Series. That bat will be the new 2014 Easton Mako. It will be a two-piece fully composite design.
Brandon
I see this bat replaces the Convert, can you confirm that this bat does not have the IMX Composite handle like the Convert? big al
No, the 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel.
Noah
How does this bat compare with the S2 for barrel length? Is it an extended barrel? Coach
The barrel length on the Easton S500C will be similar to the Easton S2. The models with the extended barrel are the Easton XL series and the new Easton MAKO.
Damon
Is there a big barrel version of this bat in 29' x 17oz? Mike
No, the S500C is only available in a youth model.
John
How does this bat compare to the Easton Surge? Quick55
The Easton S500C and Easton Surge are very similar in construction since they both are two-piece hybrid design. The S500C uses 7050 Aircraft Alloy in the barrel while the Surge uses the THT100 which is a higher performing alloy. The S2 model is the replacement of the Surge.
John
Is it approved for Little League? willy_j
Yes, the 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA.
Brandon
Is this bat available in 30" 20 oz.? Steve
The 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth bat is a -12 length to weight ratio and therefore not come in a 30" 20 oz. model.
Aubrey
My son is 12 years old 5'2 and 120 pounds. I am unsure if I should order a 30 or 31 inch. Is there anyway to help me with just these perimeters? carriec
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth.
Kara
Is it a two-piece bat? john
The 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle.
John H
Is this part of the Power Brigade or Personalize Your Power? h
"Personalize Your Power" is a slogan that Easton uses for their 2014 line. You are able to personalize the feel of the bat to your style by choosing from the Power Brigade Series or the SPEED Brigade Series. This 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth is a part of the SPEED Brigade Series because it features a balanced swing weight that allows the player to achieve higher swing speeds.
Mac
My son is 6 1/2 years old, 49" tall and 51 lbs. Is this bat in the 28" 16 oz. appropriate for him in his 2nd year of Pony Shetland baseball? What bats would you recommend? kcooks
Based on his height and weight, a 28" model in the 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth is the suggested size. The S500C is a great bat for a contact hitter, if your player is a power hitter the 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 Youth is a great option.
Jason
My son Is 11 years old and weighs 65 lbs. He is on the smaller side and a contact hitter. Is the 30" 18 oz. Easton S500C a good bat for him, or should I go with the S-Series? Baseball Dad
The 2014 Easton S500C Youth bat would be a good bat for your son. The advantage with the S Series would be more durability and higher quality materials.
Damon
Is this bat stamped "Approved for Play in PONY Baseball." Also, I have a 9 year old that is 4'10" and 100 lbs. Should he swing a 30" or 31" bat. Thanks. Dan
The 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth bat will be stamped approved for play in Pony ball. Also, a 30" should work just fine at that size.
Brandon
Will the 2014 Easton S500C be okay to use on colder spring days with temperatures between 50-60 degrees? Would the Easton S2 be okay in the same temperature conditions? Brian
The 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth and the Easton S2 can be used in 50-60 degree weather.
Kara
I have a son who just turned 10 and is in need of a new bat for Little League. He is 4'7" and 63 lbs. I am looking at the 2014 Easton S500C:YB14S500C Youth or the 2013 Rawlings Machine: YBMACH Youth in a 30" size. Can you recommend one of the two for him and if the size would be correct? He is more of a contact hitter than a power hitter. Jerry
The 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C Youth and the Rawlings Macine: YBMACH Youth are one-piece alloy bats. We typically recommend a two-piece bat for a contact hitter. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" bat. Here is a link to all of the two-piece youth bats: http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~youth/length~29%20inch/material~half%20and%20half/
Kara
Which is a better performing youth bat - 2014 Easton YB14S500C Youth or 2011 Demarini Voodoo Black? John
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) and the 2011 DeMarini Voodoo Black are similar in performance. However, the Voodoo is a discontinued item.
Kara
My son is 9 years old and weighs about 55 lbs. He has great bat speed but he is small for his age. What bat do you think would be a good fit for him? lou
The best way to determine the correct bat size for a player is by their height and weight, but typically a 9 year old uses a 30" model in the 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) Youth. The S500C is a terrific bat for a 9 year old player with great bat speed. For more information on sizing please visit our bat coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
I am 11 years old and I am 4ft 10 and weigh 70 lbs. Should I stick with the 2014 Easton S500C with a -12 or buy a bat with lower or higher drop? dillpickle
The -12 2014 Easton S500C: YB14S500C is a great option for a player that needs to increase their bat speed. If you have quick bat speed, a -10 bat would be a better option.
Kara
Which would be better bat for a 9 year old: Easton S500 or the Easton XL3? He is a great contact hitter. baller
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) is a balanced bat which would be better for a contact hitter. The Easton XL3 will have a better performance than the S500 due to the materials used to make the bat, but the S500 will be a more comfortable swing for contact hitter.
Kelby
Is there a difference between this and the Convert? What's the difference between this and the YB14S500? What would you consider to be the next bat "up" from this one? CMRLL
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) replaced the Easton Convert. The alloy and composite materials used in both bats are the same. The 2014 Easton S500 (YB14S500) is a one-piece alloy bat that uses a higher grade of alloy material than the YB14S00C.
Kara
How is this bat versus the Easton SL1? NONE
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) Youth bat is a very different design from the 2014 Easton S1 (YB14S1) Youth bat. They both feature a two-piece design but the S1 features a composite barrel that will require a short break in period before peak performance would be achieved. The S500C is a hybrid design with an alloy barrel and a composite handle. The alloy barrel will be hotter right out of the wrapper. The preference between the two would be based on your preference of barrel material.
Patrick
Does this bat require any special care? How do you break it in other than playing with it? Compared to an all aluminum bat, how is the durability? Uncle G
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) does not require any special care compared to an all aluminum bat. There is no break-in period required, as the hitting surface is all aluminum. Normally, the two-piece design helps add durability to the model.
Justin R.
The S500C, Convert, and S500 are all within my price range. Which would be the best for my 8 year old son, please? CJ
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) replaced the Easton Convert. It uses the same composite and alloy materials. The two-piece design is best for a contact hitter. The one-piece design of the S500 is better suited for a power hitter.
Kara
Does this have a longer barrel than the Marucci Black? asker
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) Youth will have a very similar barrel length when comparing it to the Marucci Black.
Aaron
Can this bat be used with a pitching machine without risk of damaging it? If not, what do you recommend as a substitute? By the way, we already purchased it from JustBats. Great bat and great seller! D.T.
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) can be used with a pitching machine.
Kara
Does this bat give the trampoline effect? roswell
Trampoline effect is a term used to describe how the ball comes off the bat. All bats will be described with that term and achieve that effect. The difference in performance is based off how great the trampoline effect is.
Patrick
Is this a softball bat? jr
No, the 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) is designed for youth baseball.
Bobby
This bat replaced the Easton Convert. Could you tell me what was changed from the Convert to the S500C? Any difference between the two? ang4jesus
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) and the Easton Convert (YB13CT) use the same quality alloy and composite materials. Easton did not make any changes.
Kara
What would be the difference in power between the 2013 S2 (-13 ratio) and the new 2014 S500C (-12 ratio) bat. They seem to be constructed similarly. The only difference I see is in the material in the aluminum part of the bat. Bee
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) and the 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) are both two-piece bats with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The S2 uses a higher grade of alloy that provides better performance and durability.
Kara
Why is the video clip with this bat saying that the bat is a "2 piece all alloy construction" if the bat is a two-piece composite and alloy construction bat? B
The 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C) is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. We will correct the video. We apologize about the error.
Kara
My son is 5'8 140, 12 years old. He is using the Louisville Slugger Warrior 31" 18 oz the Warrior doesn't seem to have any pop. How will the 500C compare. I'm thinking of the 32" 20 oz, he is not a power hitter, just a solid contact hitter. And this bat is in our price range. If not this bat what would you suggest in this price range? kevin
According to your son's height and weight I would recommend a 32" length in the 2014 Easton S500C (YB14S500C). The Easton S500C (YB14S500C) is a two-piece alloy barrel and composite handle with a balanced swing weight. Since it is a two-piece design it will give a contact hitter more "whip" action through the strike zone and added drive on the ball.
Zach
Why discontinued? dmills
The 2014 Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) has been discontinued due to Easton now focusing on their 2015 bat production.
Brandon
What 2015 Easton youth baseball bat replaces the 2014 Easton S500C youth baseball bat? Kirk
The most similar bat in this year's Easton Youth lineup to last season's 2014 Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) will be the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2). It will still be designed with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. But the alloy on this S2 model will be an upgrade over the previous S550 C alloy barrel. It will be higher performing and more durable. It should also feel even more balanced and have a light weight feel.
Brandon
Is this good for a 9 year old who is 73 pounds and tall? kevin
The 2014 Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) would be a good option for your son. It has a balanced swing weight and with the two-peice design it will have a "whipping" action through the zone adding more drive on the ball.
Jake
My son is 7 years old, 49" tall, and weighs about 53 lbs. He measures 24" from middle of chest to tip of fingers. He is a contact hitter with slower bat speed. We are considering the YB14S500C, YB15S1 or YB15S2. What would be the model recommendation given his size and swing speed? Also, what would you recommend for length and weight of the bat? Sean
The YB15S1 would be my top pick. It will be fully composite and get him the lightest swing weight of the three bats. The composite material will also hold its performance longer compared to the S2 and 2014 Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C). The recommended length and weight for his size and age will be a 29" and 17 oz.
Brandon
I just purchased the Youth S500 not the S500C - Is the S500 the 2013 model and if so is it basically the same bat as the S500C ? - I bought the 29" -13. Paul
The 2014 Easton S500 will feature a one-piece alloy construction. The 2014 Easton S500C will feature a hybrid two-piece construction with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Both bats will feature the 7050 Aircraft Alloy as well as the Ultra-thin 29/32 inch handle.
Joe
My son is 8 years old. He is 4 foot 4 inches tall and weighs about 62 pounds. He has played a season of rec ball and this will be his first year playing Pony. What length would you suggest? Or what drop weight? Or model number? Luis' Dad
The Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) is a nice model for that level of play but since he can use a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter in Pony baseball, you may want to consider the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVXR) as well. It is a similar style but has a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter for a larger sweet spot. The length we would suggest is 28 inches for his height and weight. In terms of drop weight, I would not go any heavier than a -10 length to weight ratio but what he ultimately needs would depend on what he has been using and what he is comfortable with.
Patrick
My son uses the S500C now. He swings it well. We're looking to upgrade bats into something that swings close to the same but with better performance. What would you recommend? johng918
The Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) is a very good bat. The 2015 DeMarini Insane Youth Baseball Bat (DXINL), and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 Youth Baseball Bat (YBO5153) will swing very much the same. All three are fully alloy and will be very balanced in swing weight.
Brandon
I want to know what bats can be used for Dixie Youth Baseball 9-10 year olds? Manny
Dixie Youth rules have been made more informal starting this year to where they can give a recommendation for bat rules but local chapters can abide by those or choose to use other rules. Unfortunately, your local league would be the source for a more specific ruling.
Patrick
Is the S600C practically the same model as the S500C I own? joey
Yes, the Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) will use the same alloy and have the same composite in the handle as the S600C. The only difference will be cosmetics.
John
Is there any difference between the sweet spot on the S500 and S500c? Sarge
Unfortunately I was not able to compare the bats in person, but the barrel lengths on both bats should be very similar if not the same. The difference you will see between this Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C) and the YB14S500 is that this S500C is a two-piece, hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) while the S500 is a single-piece, all-alloy bat.
Ben
Is there a similar bat available since this one was discontinued? Karen
There are no bats currently on our site that will compare to the Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat: YB14S500C.
