Great Bat, great pop and solid Earl Chamberlain parent
Pros: This bat has great pop and is a solid bat. My son loves it.
Cons: No negatives
Assualt is AWESOME! Happy Father parent
Pros: My son didn't like the idea of big barrel bat because all the ones he preiously used were end loaded. The assault is very balanced and he loves the increased sweet spot of the big barrel.
Cons: My son thought the grip was a little two sticky out of the bag.
Not the same as past models (Bring back SL116!) OrangeCountyBallers parent
Pros: More balanced than Easton 2 5/8 models, nice looking but finish too slick - should have stayed with a matte finish for a higher friction coefficient (matte finish was a great idea Louisville!!!)
Cons: Not as balanced as 2013 SL136 or 2012 SL116; Swing weight is different - not as balanced as previous models; Louisville should have stuck with the Pro Cup end rather than the energy saver. Not as lightweight as the SL136 which is strange. LS - the SL116 was a great bat - you need to revisit this design!
Nice bat Chris parent
Pros: Very balanced , good pop. I'm sure there may be a higher performing bat out there but for a kid transitioning to his first big barrel this is proving a pretty good value . Was deciding between this and the s3 and chose this beacuse the 2 1/4 didn't seem to have a lot of pop. So far Dad and son are pleased. Also my son commented on he likes this bats grip.
Cons: none so far at least
Should have bought something else Biggie parent
Pros: Just got this bat for my 12 yo. He likes the way it feels and he gets a real good cut on the ball BUT! See cons.
Cons: Sounds dead on contact right out of the wrapper. Not sure if this bat has to be broken in. I thought alloys didn't have a break in period. Hope it will come alive soon. He makes good contact but ball doesn't get past the infield.

How exactly is the Assault different than the Omaha? By the way, the SL116 Omaha had more pop than the SL136. I wonder if the end cap had anything to do with it. Anyway, my son liked the Omaha, but would like to know what is different with the Assualt. Thanks! Steve

I'm looking for a new bat. I'm considering two different Louisville Slugger bats. The first one is the 2014 Louisville Slugger Assault Senior League Baseball Bat: SLAS14-RR, and the second one is Louisville Slugger TPX Attack Senior League Baseball Bat: SL13A. Most of my hits are line drive singles into the outfield. I am not much of a power hitter. I was wondering whether I should get one of these or another bat. Also, are there any durability issues with either of these bats. NC

About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
