Description
Louisville Slugger has a rich tradition of quality dating back to 1884. Since their beginning, Louisville Slugger has focused on improving their bats year in and year out in order to help make players the best they can be. One of last year's hottest new designs was the TPX Catalyst, and it's ready to jump start baseball players' games again this season! Made from C1C Composite, the one-piece Catalyst is designed to send the ball flying! The C1C Composite is precisely layered with toughened epoxy resin to make it not only high performing, but insanely durable for a mid-level priced bat! The thing that really makes the Catalyst stand out though is the -12 length to weight ratio! This unique design makes the Catalyst one of the lightest senior league bats to EVER hit the market! The Catalyst is topped off with the patented Louisville Slugger End Cap that dampens vibration and traps that energy in the barrel to create explosive bat to ball contact! With a 7/8 inch tapered handle and a synthetic leather grip, the Catalyst will feel amazing in your hands as you prepare to hit your next homer! Louisville Slugger: Leave Your Mark! The Catalyst features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: My son plays on a 11U travel team and he absolutely loves this bat. His first base hit on the season was a double! He uses the 29-17 and has no problem keeping up with fast pitchers. The bat has a quick break in period, too. I recommend this bat because it generates a lot of bat speed and can pack a punch!
Cons: None
Pros: my son is 8 uses the 27-15 and loves the bat. it has great pop and feel. The rest of the team loves it too and they all use it during games. Great durability!
Cons: none
Pros: Nice looking bat,... It does have good pop on contact.
Cons: Though this bat is a -12 it still feels very end loaded... IMO it is NOT a good bat for a smaller contact hitter... My son is 11 yrs old / 70 lbs and has the 29 / -12 model and his swing looks much slower using this bat vs his Demarini
Pros: Pop is good light Swings balanced Has a good sound
Cons: Color is not my favorite Looks cheap
Pros: sometimes reasonable in price.
Cons: these bats break constantly. Louisville's warranty system is terrible and they make you pay to ship it back even if they ship you an incorrect replacement.
Pros: Bat has good pop to it
Cons: Bat Cracked after 4 months. Beware to keep your receipt.
Pros: Son plays 11 majors, he 4'8" 97 lbs. okay, the bat is more for the control the bat type player looking to make good contact, will improve his k/h/w ratio. I don't get the end loaded comment, son says it's way better than his 2 3/4 mako or his 2 3/4 attack xl. But I see a lot of bats are too big for their kids my son swings a 28/29 2 3/4 -10/-12. The catalyst xl is very well balanced and fastest thru the zone we have on the team.
Cons: None
Pros: None
Cons: Bad quality, in just one years my 9 years old son broke 2 Catalyst, first I bougth the 2013 and just 2 months after was broked, then was replaced for the 2014 and just 8 months after was broked again, DO NOT BUY THIS BAT!
Pros: 12u player 4 foot 11 ///90-92 pounds ///used 30/18 2 3/4 barrel size pop swing speed control
Cons: will last about 3/4 of a season
Pros: My son loves this bat...He played 7u Spring/Summer hit 2 homeruns and batted .700 (in 12 games)...Fall 8u batted .780 with 5 hrs in 10 games...Great bat speed and feel. He has the 30", however, he is big for his age - 4'10", 125 lbs. Good purchase - no complaints.
Cons: Son has never mentioned any.
Pros: good pop, good bat speed, overall not bad, good sound on solid hits, avg sweet spot size.
Cons: color is not the best.
Pros: pop light drop weight for smaller kids large barrel used 30-18 model for a player 4 foot 10 inches tall and 94 pounds. did well with it.
Cons: color but no big deal has alittle vibration on mis hits
Pros: My son plays 8u this bat is light and performance is great. All the kids his size are using it.
Cons: None
Pros: Very lightweight Decent pop
Cons: Doesn't last.....cracked after 3 tourneys. Tried to contact Louisville Slugger 2x already and no response. Will never buy another Louisville Slugger again due to poor service and support.
Pros: A lot of pop. Even with less than perfect contact the ball travels well off the bat. Has a unique but solid sound, not the "ping" that most big barrel bats have. My son loves it, and has done great this season. Several of his team mates have used it as well.. My son has 4 out of the park HRs this season, and 4 others on his team have hit HRs with his bat. Good price. The light weight helps with bat speed with faster pitchers, thus giving kids a little more confidence at the plate.
Cons: This is our second one. The first broke after about one year's use (just after the warrantee expired) I've noticed a slight crack in the barrel of this one, although it seems to be surface level (for now). For the price, it's worth one new bat per season given the results he's had with it, but it's too bad they can't improve the quality.
Pros: this bat has great feel extremely light and good pop no vibrate at all the barrel huge and when you hit the ball it goes flying I hit 2 homers in 2 games
Cons: none

About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
