Description

***If within 30 days of the purchase the consumer is not completely satisfied with the performance of their TRU3 Bat, they are able to return it to the retailer from which the purchase was made or directly to Louisville Slugger for a full refund of the documented retail price paid.***. The Louisville Slugger Raid brings a new dimension in performance advantage technology to the BBCOR market that no other manufacturer offers: TRU3 (3-piece bat construction)! This revolutionary technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle to give the Raid a trampoline spring and dramatically reduce vibration on contact. The hard connection piece between the barrel and the handle results in a bat that's no only sturdier, but feels better with every swing! In fact, vibration from a miss hit is absorbed before it reaches a player's hands. Without the worry of sting or vibration from "off sweet spot hits," a player can maintain acceleration through impact for increased and more consistent performance. Thanks to TRU3, Louisville Slugger is confident the Raid BBCOR bat will be the BEST feeling bat you will ever swing! And just like last year's Exogrid, the Raid features Flex-Band Technology. Rather than thickening the walls of bats to bring them in line with BBCOR standards, Louisville Slugger inserted a very light one inch wide graphite band. Not only does this Flex-Band give the bat the lowest swing weight available in its BBCOR hybrid class, it is small enough that the sweet spot feels just like high performing BESR bats of the past. To top it all off, the Raid is made of from Louisville Slugger's AC21 Scandium Alloy, which is one of the most durable and responsive alloys on the market. Moving toward the handle you'll find Louisville Slugger's new Pure 360 Composite. This thinner, high-strength composite allowed Louisville Slugger to use more layers in the handle and transition for added strength, while reducing the overall wall thickness. With more top 30 baseball teams swinging Louisville Slugger than any other brand, Louisville Slugger puts greatness in the hands of collegiate players every time they step into the box. Louisville Slugger: Leave Your Mark! The Raid carries a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Good Option, Not a Good Choice David P player

Pros: This bat looks great, has a great grip, and has very little vibration. The ball comes off great when hit correctly, and has a good sound to it.

Cons: Right off the bat, I can say that this bat is top-heavy. My old 2012 Voodoo is much more balanced, but this bat is still swingable with a good whip action. Although the sweet spot is very small, the ball still comes off great anywhere you hit it. As a highschool ball player, I would have chosen a more balanced bat if I had known it was going to be top-heavy.

Impressed! whbaseball player

Pros: Ive always wanted a bat that no one ever used, but still performed great. This bat is perfect! Even though it may feel top heavy, you will get used to it in a day, and will feel very balanced. The pop is great, is constructed well, has no vibration whatsoever, and has one of the best grips I have found on a bat.

Cons: The sweet spot is not very big, and has a weird texture to the bat (Feels like sandpaper). I know that wouldn't do anything but I am just used to a smooth bat. Also, there is little to no ping sound to the bat, but a blunt pop noise (Like a silenced ping).

Player Pete hughes player

Pros: This is by far one the best bbcor bats available! the pop on this bat is unreal. I like it more than the S1, attack, and 5150 velo. Bat glides through the zone

Cons: little top heavy but whips through the zone well.

Pros: Looking for new bat and bought the Raid to give it a try because of the unbelievable sale price. Switched from Easton S3 from the last 2 seasons. The Raid is slightly more end weighted than the the S3, but feels light and quick through the strike zone. Composite handle feels great and the alloy barrel has great pop. I love that it sounds more like a wood bat when hit. I like the unique feature of the sand paper feel of the barrel. I have hit in the cages twice with the Raid, hits feel solid, smooth and have not noticed any vibration even on hits near the cap. Excited to use in a games this weekend.

Cons: None so far. The paint on the barrel for the logos is flat, smooth paint which may chip after a lot of use. This does not bother me, but just to note to those more concerned about looking good than playing good.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRD14-RR? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this bat come in a drop 5? If not, what drop 5 Louisville Slugger would you recommend? Izzy
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR: BBRD14-RR Adult does not come in a -5 Senior League model. If you prefer the three-piece design, the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: SLAT14-R5 Senior League would be a great fully composite option. Louisville Slugger also makes a 2014 Louisville Slugger Assault: SLAS14-R5 Senior League, which is a one-piece alloy.
Katie
Does this bat replace the Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid in the lineup? If not which bat does? tom
Yes. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR: BBRD14-RR adult is Louisville Slugger's new 2nd tier model and replaces the Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid in the lineup. However, the construction is much different because of the new TRU-3 Piece bat construction technology and the Pure 360 composite handle.
Damon
Will this bat be balanced? How does it compare to the Easton S2 BBCOR in terms of balance, pop, and performance? david
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid (BBRD14-RR) will have a slightly end loaded swing weight. The Easton S2 (BB14S2) will be a very balanced design. In terms of performance, they both will be very similar. Both models use each manufacturer's top alloy.
John
If I am not satisfied with this bat within a 30-day period, can I return it for full refund if it is NOT in the plastic wrapping it was in? I still do have the box, receipt, etc. Nick P
Yes. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR Adult) comes with a 30 day guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the bat you can return it to Louisville Slugger even if it has been used for a refund of the documented retail price paid.
Damon
Will they be making a drop 5? Nikk26
No, Louisville Slugger will not produce the Raid in a -5. Louisville will offer the Attack (SLAT14-R5) and the Assault (SLAS14-RR) in a -5 drop.
John
Does this bat have a risk for becoming "dead" or breaking because of the 3-piece design? And what range of temperature is best for this bat? Waterboy24
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) is actually a very durable model. You would not sacrifice a thing by changing to this from a one-piece. We do not recommend using any bat below 55 degrees.
Justin R.
Is this bat legal? I have never seen a bat that the barrel has a texture feel to it. Normally it is a smooth barrel. Turtle
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) Adult features the BBCOR .50 certification stamp and is legal for play.
Jason
What is better this or the Attack? Why? JFarvexcluesives
Both the 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) and the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack BBCOR (BBAT14-RR) are great models. The preference between the two would come down to whether you prefer the alloy barrel of the Raid or composite barrel of the Attack.
Patrick
I'm going to 14u and I mostly hit singles and doubles and some home runs. Should I go with the Raid or Assault? gjnation
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) features an end loaded swing weight, whereas the Assault is a balanced model. The best bat for you will depend on your own preferences. If you are more of a contact hitter, then the Assault would be a better option to work on bat speed and bat control. If you like an end loaded bat, then the Raid may be a great choice. Both models are high performance models and are great options to choose from.
Tessa
I have an Easton S2 and I did not like it. Are these bats similar to each other? big swing
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR: (BBRD14-RR) will also incorporate a hybrid design. However, the material will be different, and this model will have a TRU3 three piece bat construction. The added technology will help improve the sweet spot and reduce vibrations. Therefore, this model will only be similar in the sense it has an alloy barrel and composite handle. However, the materials and technology used will be different.
Merritt
Is the Raid better than the DeMarini Voodoo of 2014? bla
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) has a two-piece hybrid design just like the 2014 Voodoo. The main difference between the two bats is the swing weight. The Voodoo has more of an end loaded swing weight and the Raid is more balanced. The performance between the two bats is very similar, but the Voodoo tends to better for power hitters and the Raid is better for contact hitters.
Jason
I am 15 years old. I weight 136 pounds and I am 5 foot 10. Would the Raid or Rawlings Velo be a better fit for me? captain
Which bat would fit better would be less based on your size and more based on your preference. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) is a two-piece hybrid design that will flex a bit more than the one-piece alloy design of the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3). Both are great balanced options.
Patrick
which 2013 Louisville Slugger bat is this the version of? sean bartro
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) adult is the replacement model to the Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid.
Sean
What is the MOI of the bat? Trevor
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRD14-RR) does not have the MOI listed on the bat. It does however have a very low MOI, which helps keep your bat speeds very quick.
Brandon
How does this bat compare to the very first BBCOR model of the Rawlings 5150? josh
Both bats have balanced swing weights and alloy hitting surfaces, but that would be the two similarities the bats share. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRD14-RR) will eliminate vibration better on contact with the three-piece technology. They're fairly different in design, but Slugger provides a 30 Day Performance Promise on the Raid, just in case you don't like the feel.
Mac
What is the break in period on this bat? Johnny M
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRD14-RR) features an alloy barrel that does not require a break-in period.
Patrick
I've been looking at the 2015 Voodoo OVERLORD or the 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid. What would you recommend for me being a contact hitter? Bailey
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRD14-RR) would be a fantastic choice for a hitter that needs quick bat speeds. The Voodoo OVERLORD may feel slightly barrel heavy and hinder the quickest speeds possible. The Louisville Slugger Assault would also be a great choice!
Brandon
Is this bat balanced and does it have a light swing weight? c
The Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRD14-RR) features a three piece design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It will also offer a slightly end-loaded swing weight. The Raid was actually discontinued and replaced by the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153).
Joe
How does this compare to the Exogrid 3? bingbanta123
The Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRD14-RR) features a three piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Additionally, it offers a slightly end-loaded swing weight. The Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EX) features a one piece full alloy design with a balanced swing weight. It will be much stiffer through the zone, however, the balanced swing weight is more suited for a gap style hitter.
Joe

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
