Unfortunately Louisville Slugger does not produce the Xeno anything lighter than the -10 drop. They only offer it in a -8, -9 and -10 drop. Louisville Slugger offers the M2 Pride in a -12 drop. It will also be a two-piece full composite design.

The durability issue with the Xenos in the past has been fixed with the 2014 model. Composite bats should not be used in temperatures under 55 degrees.

ASA Fastpitch softball will not require a new ASA performance certification for the 2014 season. ASA made a change to the Slow Pitch softball performance certification, but not the Fastpitch softball regulation. All 2014 Fastpitch softball bats being produced will carry the 2004 ASA stamp which is all that you will need for ASA play. We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch, in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.

If the player is able to swing the heavier bat without losing bat speed, it would be more beneficial to use the heavier option. If you think of it as a physics equation, mass times inertia equals force, the heavier the bat you use, the more power you can produce. That being said, it is important that the player can swing the bat comfortably and have good timing with the weight you chose.

We do not recommend playing in temperatures colder than 55 degrees out. The temperature effects the balls, not the bat and there is a higher number of damaged bats reported when the temperature is under 55 degrees. We also recommend to not store your bat in places where it is below 65 degrees.

We would recommend a 33" bat for someone of your height and weight, although the length of the bat can fluctuate by 1" up or down depending on your preference. We have a -8, -9, and a -10 version of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno also, and what drop you get will depend on several factors such as strength, comfort with previous bat weights, etc.

Based on her approximate height and weight. I would suggest going with a length of 33 inches. It probably wouldn't hurt either to increase the weight of the bat as well, since she has used a -9 for the past few years. Going with a 33 inch 25 ounce would be a slight increase (-8) however, if you wanted to increase the weight even more, that would also be a possibility as well. Ultimately, it will come down to what feels most comfortable for her to swing.

If your comparing two bats that are the same size as what your are comparing above the 34" 24 oz. will feel a little lighter and swing a little bit easier then the 33" 25 oz. It wont be anything that will feel drastically different then the other.

The major difference between the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch and the Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite (FP11X) Fastpitch would be that the 2014 uses the Pure 360 composite material which increases the durability of the bat. Other than that they will be very similar in terms of design.

2014 Louisville Slugger LXT (FPLX14-RR) is that the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno is a two-piece design where as the 2014 Louisville Slugger LXT is a three-piece design. Both bats are very balanced. Also the 2014 Louisville Slugger LXT comes with a 30-day performance promise. So you can use this bat and if you don't like it you can return for a full refund.

No, if she is having trouble with a 30" 17 oz., she will continue to struggle with the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR). I would recommend a Miken Halo Light or the Easton FS3. These will be composite bats that feature a lighter, more balanced swing weight.

In general, the best policy is to have the player swing the heaviest bat they are comfortable swinging without losing bat speed. The heavier the bat, if the swing speed stays the same, the more power they can produce.

If you are referring to the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) when you say the "lt xeno", they would actually be two different models. The LXT is similar to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) in that they both feature the S1iD technology that minimizes break in time and maximizes barrel reinforcement.
They are different in their connection point technology. The LXT features the TRU3 3 piece technology that the Xeno does not which features more advanced sting or vibration protection and slightly more flex than the connection point on the Xeno. The Xeno will, therefore, have a stiffer feel.

We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Louisville Slugger XENO (FPXN14-RR), in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
