Description

Many of the best teams in college and high school softball were swinging the Louisville Slugger TPS Xeno this past year! That's because they learned the old fashioned way which bat was the hottest: through thousands of hours of practice and play. The dedication that Louisville Slugger put in to create the Xeno design really shines through in this year's model, and it all starts with S1iD Technology. This technology actually allows the barrel to be tuned to exceed the legal ball exit speed ratio. The catch is that a governor is placed inside that allows the barrel to flex to its MAXIMUM allowable performance from SWING 1. The Xeno is made from Louisville Slugger's innovative new Pure 360 Composite, yet due to the S1iD technology, it needs ABSOLUTELY ZERO BREAK-IN! The Xeno features an iST design that gives this bat a solid connection between the barrel and handle. iST provides players a bat with a solid feel and HUGE sweetspot, while absorbing vibrations from mis-hit balls before they reach the hands. With a tacky synthetic grip a 7/8 inch handle, the Xeno will give players absolute control at the plate. If you are a fastpitch player looking for THE top-of-the-line bat this season, look no further than the TPS Xeno! Louisville Slugger: In a Class Above Any Other! The Xeno is approved by ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF. This bat comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Xeno vs LXT B Jefcoat coach

Pros: Came out of the box as expected. Had great pop, great feel, great looks. There is no way for me to grade durability but without question the rest of the grading criteria = 5 stars. We are replacing a 2012 Xeno with a 34" bat. We were a little unsure of what to do, buy 2014 or buy the 2012. It's hard to tell about how others may judge a bat which only adds to the confusion so I really tried to be an open book for this review since there are no other reviews. We are very happy with the 2014 Xeno. In addition to the Xeno, we also bought the LXT since it has a 30 day promise. I hit outfield fungo so I could personally get a feel for how the ball jumped off the '12 Xeno, '14 Xeno and LXT. Without a doubt, hands down, the '14 Xeno had more pop than the LXT. As a matter of fact the '12 Xeno had just as much, if not more, and there is no telling how many 1,000's of balls the '12 has had hit. Sorry LXT but you will be going back to where you came from.

Cons: None, very happy.

Great Review by Mr. Jefcoat! GLEN V parent

Pros: We have been waiting for this bat debut since early summer. My daughter loved her 2012 Xeno, but had issues with the 2013. When LS said they were going to make the 2014 more durable, my thinking was this is not going to have the same pop - WRONG! 1) Hot out of the wrapper 2) Totally agree that 2014 has the pop as the 2012 3) Daughter loves the graphic and color 4) Large sweetspot with no vibration. 5) Very well balance. As a Dad and ex baseball player, I also had to see for myself. I also hit outfield practice rotating several bats that the girls had and happy to report this finished very high! Keeping my fingers crossed on the durability. That the reason I gave it a 3.

Cons: None at this time.

Not Happy Mad Dad . . . parent

Pros: Awesome bat ...

Cons: Bought it on Friday used it in a tournament Saturday. She put 2 over the fence and countless triples. Took it out of her bag Sunday morning to look it over . . . Handle and barrel joint is loose . Sending it back . And sincerely hope this is not a durability issue for these bats. Hoping to get a new one soon

Pros: Feels just like the 2013s balance. Lots of pop when ball is centered barreled up. Looks great best looking bat hands down preforms just like 2013 witch is awesome best bat on the market longevity is the only ? but lets face it we buy bats for bombs not to keep 4 ever 1 year is about right. The bat is Awesome buy it its beautiful and has great pop

Cons: I love Xenos so is sad to say the 2012 has a little more pop but feels heavier than the 2013 and 2014 witch feel identical my kiddo at 11 has had 2012 2013 2014 Xeno so i have a good idea. She swings the 2012 over the 2013 2014

Pros: Looks great! Plenty of pop, the ball explodes off the bat. Much better sweet spot on the 2014 Xeno. My daughter was using a 2011 Xeno, she got 3 good years out of the bat. Hopefully, the durability with the 2014 will be just as long.

Pros: I just got this bat for my daughter (12u) travel player. We brought it to practice and let the other girls use it and now I think we've got a new team bat. The pop is much better than the 2013 model and so is the feel according to my daughter.

Cons: None at this time. Can't comment on the durability as we've only had it for a few weeks.

2014 Louisville Xeno Purple and Gray 33/23 Georgina Flores parent

Pros: Straight out of the wrapper, the new 2014 Xeno bat performed. My daughter had the 2013 Model, which was light blue and with a white handle and it broke after 8 months. Normally, these bats last us a year. Other softball players recommended this bat to me and it's well worth the $299.99. The graphics are nicer and it has a gray tapped handle unlike last years model, which my daughter hated because it always looked so dirty.

Cons: Don't have one yet.

Pros: I have the Xeno 2012 and love it I have been hitting with it for 3 years now, and recently have gotten the 2014 Xeno because of the new USSSA standards. I am 14 and play 14u travel ball. The Xeno 2012 comes hot out of the wrapper is very durable, and has a great pop. I have started to use my 2014 Xeno more and I LOVE IT! It has a great pop and I can barely swing and it goes long and when I swing my best it goes.

I LOVE my Xenos Cierra #99 player

Pros: This is my third Xeno. I have the 2012, 2013 and now the 2014. I am a power hitter and I can always trust my Xeno. It has great pop and the sound is just AWESOME! Last year, I hit 23 homeruns with the 2013 , lots of triples and doubles too. It still has lots of pop, but I had to get the 2014 just because I love the colors. It seems to have just as much pop as the previous two. Hopefully, I will have just as many homeruns this year as I did last year.

Pros: My daughter is 4'8" and weighs 90lbs. We went from a 28" -11 Demarini to a 30" -10 Xeno. Just in practice it is amazing the difference the ball flies off the bat. She loves the look , the feel, and I love the smile she makes when she hits the ball. I can't leave a remark about the durability yet . But so far we love it.

Cons: It is a little pricey but if it performs as well at game time it will be well worth it.

Pros: My daughter is 8 yrs old and loves her 2014 Xeno... she's been using Demarini Bustos since she has started playing ball a year ago. We are now loyal fans of the Xeno. Her infield homeruns have double since she started swinging this bat. Amazing graphics and even better pop!

Very Happy Brian parent

Pros: We had always bought our daughter the bats off the clearance rack because we wanted to make sure she was serious about softball. This will be her second year of kid pitch and she has always been a good contact hitter. At practice she is making great contact and the balls were not leaving the infield. We decided to step up and get her a new bat. We researched and decided to go with the Xeno 31/21 bat. First pitch she nailed a linedrive right into my stomach. Then she hit 15 balls harder and farther then she had ever hit before. She was begging to keep hitting. She was jumping up and down because she had never seen the ball go 150 to 175 feet in the air. Just the confidence it has given her in 2 days is well worth the price.

Cons: Can't hit it in under 60 degrees. She has been begging to go hit but we have had to say no.

Cheap, fragile and unacceptable. Mr. D Marini parent

Pros: Was a good bat for a short period. Good pop, although nowhere near as good as the blue and white model.

Cons: This bat replaced the 2013 model which developed a bad rattle after 11 months. Entire interior structure of this one detached in less than 9 months and that is despite my daughter not playing in the spring due to injury. Bat is completely dead and worthless now. Manufacturer refused to do ANYTHING since this was a replacement bat. Other players with this bat have complained of rattles inside very early on. This bat is a piece of garbage and I will not be buying ANYTHING from LS again. Unless you have bottomless pockets, avoid this bat.

nice bat, but broken in one month of play Prospect Mom parent

Pros: I can't be sure if it was increasing to a 32/22 from a 31/21, but the Xeno hit the ball farther than her Easton and CF4. My daughter walked to the plate with confidence using this bat. No sting unless hit real ugly off the handle. My daughter plays 12U travel ball. She played in one tournament and the world series (bought in the beginning of July.) She took the month of August off from softball. While hitting the ball off the tee, half the bat went flying on Sept 2. Very thankful no one was hit. I have returned the bat and I am excited for a replacement. Hopefully, it won't take too long and the next one lasts more than a month of play. My daughter is 5'3" and weighs 100lbs. She practices softball about 7-8 hours a week on average.

Cons: The bat broke in half while hitting off a tee, and the bat head flew. The paint chips easily compared to her CF4 and Easton bats. This bat is expensive if it only lasts for a short time.

Xeno 2014 (33-23) Mark parent

Pros: Geez...17 year old daughter, who has occasional power, borrowed the Xeno bat from teammate this weekend and hit 3 straight home runs. All three towering shots. Think I have to buy a new bat.

Cons: Had 2012 Xeno and it broke after 1 year warranty expired.

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN14-RR? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I have the 2013 model Xeno. What are the differences in the 2013 and 2014 models? Linkie
They used the same composite material and technology in the 2013 and 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno. They just made the 2014 model more durable.
Noah
What is the difference between FPXN14-RR and FPXN14-R9? joe
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch is a -10 length to weight ratio, whereas the FPXN14-R9 is a -9. Given the same length the FPXN14-R9 is one oz. heavier than the FPXN14-RR.
Katie
My daughter has Xeno 32" 22oz. What bat would you recommend for winter ball and batting practice so my daughter gets the same feel? moe
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch bat is a very balanced two-piece fully composite model. For lower temperatures, we recommend an alloy model with the same balanced swing weight.
Aubrey
I'm 13 almost 14, 5' 2" and 115 lbs. I'm currently using a 31" 21 oz. Should I stay with that size? Sofballqueen

Katie
Can you make this bat 31" 18 or 19oz, my daughter is 9 and is taller for her age but lacks bat speed at 21&22oz. Love the pop I've see with this bat, and a lot of 10U players have this problem. Philly kid
Unfortunately Louisville Slugger does not produce the Xeno anything lighter than the -10 drop. They only offer it in a -8, -9 and -10 drop. Louisville Slugger offers the M2 Pride in a -12 drop. It will also be a two-piece full composite design.
John
My daughter is 5' 4". She has a 32" 22 oz. right now and is wanting to move up. I am very concerned about these bats durability as I'm hearing a lot break and don't last. Gwen
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch has been upgraded from the 2013 model with Louisville Slugger's Pure 360 Composite, which improves durability and performance. We've had great feedback on the durability. Based on her size, I recommend moving up to a 33" 23 oz.

Is this bat or CF6 better for power hitters? Wild
If you were looking at a balanced version of the CF6, this 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch is very similar in design. Both bats are two-piece composites with balanced swing weights which could be good options for a power hitter. Typically, power hitters will benefit more from an end loaded bat like the CF6 Insane: DXCFI.

The durability issue with the Xenos in the past has been fixed with the 2014 model. Composite bats should not be used in temperatures under 55 degrees.
Noah
My daughter is about to move up to 12U softball. She is 4'10" and currently uses the 30" drop 10 Xeno. She is pretty strong. What size bat could she move up to? Also, we play a fair number of games in 40-50 degree weather. I assume she will need to use an aluminum bat for the colder temps. Thanks. Jim
Based on that information, the player could move up to a 31" model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch bat. We recommend limiting the use on composite barrel bats in temperatures below 55 degrees.

Kara
My daughter in an 8 year old (4'8", 85 pounds) who plays travel softball. She generates very good power, but this is more because of great bat speed than because of pure brute force. Would you recommend the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno or the 2014 DeMarini CF6? And which size would you recommend in each bat? Michael
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 are both very balanced bats with great pop. Based on her height and weight we recommend a 30" 20 oz.
Kara
If it breaks, can I send it back and get a new one? A replacement bat, for free? SoftballLifeeee
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. Louisville Slugger offers a one time warranty replacement on their bats.
Kara
This bat has a 2004 ASA certified stamp on it. Will this be legal for 2014 ASA fastpitch tournaments? Someone told me it has to have a 2012 ASA stamp! Dan
ASA Fastpitch softball will not require a new ASA performance certification for the 2014 season. ASA made a change to the Slow Pitch softball performance certification, but not the Fastpitch softball regulation. All 2014 Fastpitch softball bats being produced will carry the 2004 ASA stamp which is all that you will need for ASA play. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch is approved for the 2014 season.
Mac
My daughter is 13 and weighs about 115 lbs. What size would you recommend? Cheryl

Katie
My daughter is 18 years old 5' 5" and 140 lbs on an 18U Fastpitch team and varsity high school team. Which bat size do you recommend? Tori
We typically do not recommend a -10 bat such as the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch for an older player. We recommend a 33" 25 oz. 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-R8 Fastpitch.
Kara
My daughter is 18 years old, 5'6" and weighs 120 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? KO
Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 33" model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch.
Jason
Does the 2014 Xeno have more 'Pop' than last years? Noah G
Both the 2013 and the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno are both very high performing bats. You will not see a difference in performance from either one, but the 2014 will be slightly more durable.
Noah
Does it meet the new USSSA bat standards? It looks like it has the ASA stamp, but not the USSSA. lg
Yes. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch bat has the 1.20 BPF USSSA stamp.
Damon
What are temperature guidelines for use in cool or cold weather? In other words, what is the lowest temperature that it is safe to use Xeno bat without damaging the bat? trish
We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch, in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.
Mac
The Xeno label on my daughters bat is chipping away with every hit she makes. Is there anything that can be done for that? margie
The bat warranty from Louisville Slugger should cover this on the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch. I would contact them at this direct number: 1-800-282-2287.
Brandon
Would you recommend this bat for a power hitter, if not what bat? M
A two-piece bat such as the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is typically used by a contact hitter. However, the Xeno is often used by power hitters. If you have power, we recommend using a heavier Xeno bat such as the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-R8).
Kara
My daughter is 13, 62.5" and about 100-105 lbs. Also, she was just moved to left side. What size bat would I need? I was thinking 31/21. coolmom
Yes, the 31" length could work for her on the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch. A 32" would also be a good size for her as well.
Brandon

For your daughter we would recommend a 33" for the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
John
What drop size should I get for my daughter? She is 5' 4", she weighs 119 lbs and is 13 years old. rob
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: FPXN14-RR Fastpitch comes in a -10 length to weight ratio. That drop size is the most common among fastpitch players. For your daughters height and weight, I would recommend a 32".
Justin R.
My daughter is 13 years old, 5' 7" tall and approximately 145 lbs. What bat weight/length and drop size would you recommend? I've always heard DeMarini's are the best. Thoughts? mbrimm
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 33" 30 oz. 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR). The Xeno uses quality composite materials and is very high performing. The Xeno is very comparable to the DeMarin bat line.
Kara
My daughter is 13, 5'3" and weighs 105 lbs. She plays middle school and travel ball. What one would you recommend? Softball Dad
Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 32" model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch.

My 14 year old 6' tall, 150 pound daughter who plays elite select fast pitch wants a XENO. Which one does she need.? Her 14 A team plays from 14 A to 18 open teams. dad

Aaron
My daughter is 10 years old and plays in a 10u travel softball league. She is 4 foot 10 and weighs 102 pounds. Is this 2014 Xeno out of her league? Janellejo
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch model is a great fastpitch bat. I will say that given your daughter's height and weight, the -10 length to weight ratio may be slightly heavy for her. If she has been able to swing that weight in the past, the Xeno would be a great option.
Patrick
My daughter is 5 foot 5 inches and weighs 79 pounds and is a great batter. Can you help me tell if the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno is out of her league? If so, what bat do you recommend ? She swings a 30. jayla , the beast
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is a great choice for contact hitters. It is a very balanced bat that I do not believe will be too much for her to handle. Using our Bat Coach, I determined the best size for a player of her size would be the 32".
Kelby
my daughter plays for many teams and play all year round she has a cf5 now and really wants this bat she is 5'7" and weighs about 159 lbs is this a good bat for her? tommy
Absolutely, the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch would be awesome choice for your daughter.

Tessa L.
My daughter plays fastpitch softball. She is 15 years old. She is 5 foot 10 and weighs 207 pounds. What size Xeno bat do you recommend? mom
Based on the player's height and weight, we would suggest a 34 inch size of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-R8). We would also suggest the -8 length to weight ratio if the player is comfortable swinging a bat that heavy.
Patrick
My daughter is 11 years old. She is 5 foot 7 and weighs 115 pounds. Should we try to go lighter with a 22 ounce bat or stick with 24 ounce? none
If the player is able to swing the heavier bat without losing bat speed, it would be more beneficial to use the heavier option. If you think of it as a physics equation, mass times inertia equals force, the heavier the bat you use, the more power you can produce. That being said, it is important that the player can swing the bat comfortably and have good timing with the weight you chose.
Patrick
Hello, looking to get my daughter her first Xeno bat. She is 12 years old about 105 pounds and 5' 1" tall. What size bat would you recommend? She is currently swinging a 33" 22 oz. DeMarini Vendetta. Thanks. Amber
Based on her height ans weight we recommend a 32" 22 oz. 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR),
Kara
I just bought the 2014 Xeno (FPXN14-RR Fastpitch), is it safe to use it in the cold? hernameszoee
We do not recommend playing in temperatures colder than 55 degrees out. The temperature effects the balls, not the bat and there is a higher number of damaged bats reported when the temperature is under 55 degrees. We also recommend to not store your bat in places where it is below 65 degrees.
Zach
I'm 18 years old. I'm 5 foot 5 and weigh about 130 pounds. What size bat should I get? dyl
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest the 33 inch size of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch bat.
Patrick
I'm 17 and I am 5'6 and 140 lbs. I play for my high school varsity team and also an 18u travel team. Which 2014 Xeno bat would you reccomend for me? Krista
We would recommend a 33" bat for someone of your height and weight, although the length of the bat can fluctuate by 1" up or down depending on your preference. We have a -8, -9, and a -10 version of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno also, and what drop you get will depend on several factors such as strength, comfort with previous bat weights, etc.
Kyle J.
Is this more of an end loaded bat or is the weight balanced? 202020
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch has a balanced swing weight.
Jason
Is this more of an end loaded bat or is the weight even 202020
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch has a balanced swing weight.
Aaron
Do they make this bat with a -11 length to weight ratio? Tony B
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xenos only come with a -8, -9, or -10 length to weight ratio. The -10 length to weight ration would be the lightest option available.
Justin R.
My daughter is 17 years old. 5'6" 135lbs. She plays on her high school varsity team and plays on an 18A travel team. She has used an Anderson 32" -9 end weighted for the last 3 years. What size and weight XENO do you suggest? MJE
Based on her approximate height and weight. I would suggest going with a length of 33 inches. It probably wouldn't hurt either to increase the weight of the bat as well, since she has used a -9 for the past few years. Going with a 33 inch 25 ounce would be a slight increase (-8) however, if you wanted to increase the weight even more, that would also be a possibility as well. Ultimately, it will come down to what feels most comfortable for her to swing.
Merritt
My daughter is 5'8", 155 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? She has long arms strong legs, she plays on both high school varsity team & travel. al
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 33" 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
Kara
Which would feel heavier during the swing a 33" 25 oz. or the 34" 24 oz. Or would they feel the same? Scott
If your comparing two bats that are the same size as what your are comparing above the 34" 24 oz. will feel a little lighter and swing a little bit easier then the 33" 25 oz. It wont be anything that will feel drastically different then the other.
Zach
I'm in the market for the new Xeno fastpitch bat. But I have an opportunity to buy a brand new XENO 32 inch 22 ounce FP11X (2011) model. Is there a big difference between the two models? Nick
The major difference between the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch and the Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite (FP11X) Fastpitch would be that the 2014 uses the Pure 360 composite material which increases the durability of the bat. Other than that they will be very similar in terms of design.
Patrick
When will the 2015 be out? walt
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch came out in September or 2013. Although we do not have a release date yet it should be around the same time.
Aaron
My daughter plays 14u and is in the market for a new bat. We previously have had Demarini cf6. She is between the 2014 lxt and 2014 zeno in 33/23. Can you tell me the differences between the 2 bats. She has used both that her teammates have. I don't like the sound of the xeno, but ultimately shes the one using the bat. Any information would be helpful. Thanks qcf00
The difference between the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) and the 2014 Louisville Slugger LXT (FPLX14-RR) is that the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno is a two-piece design where as the 2014 Louisville Slugger LXT is a three-piece design. Both bats are very balanced. Also the 2014 Louisville Slugger LXT comes with a 30-day performance promise. So you can use this bat and if you don't like it you can return for a full refund.
Kyle
Does it come in a -11? I am 5' 3" and 13 years old. gianna
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR Fastpitch) is a -10 and has the lightest length to weight ratio of the Xeno bats. There are also -8 and -9 length to weight options, but there is not a -11.
Jason
My daughter is 8 yrs old she uses a 30 in 17 oz drop 13 DeMarini Bustos. She has good bat speed with it, but she is having a little trouble because it is end loaded. Do you think a Xeno would be better, even if it is 3 oz heavier than what she is using now? Jworth72
No, if she is having trouble with a 30" 17 oz., she will continue to struggle with the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR). I would recommend a Miken Halo Light or the Easton FS3. These will be composite bats that feature a lighter, more balanced swing weight.
Justin R.
Good morning! My daughter is a smaller 14U player (4' 11" and weighs 86 lbs.). We currently use a CF6 30" 20 oz. and have used the 2013 XENO same size. We are looking for a 32" bat with a nice balanced feel and swing. She is a contact hitter and slapper. What would you suggest? atwest
Based on her height and weight we typically recommend a 31" 21 oz. bat. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is a very balanced bat and ideal for a contact hitter.
Kara
I have a 13 year old daughter who is 5'9" and weighs 130 lbs. She is a strong player. Should she swing a 33" or 34" -10 Xeno? Dutch
Based on the approximate height and weight given, we would suggest a length of 33 inches for the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR).
Merritt
I am 5' 8" and weigh 160 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? softball
Based on your height and weight, our Bat Coach sizing tool (http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/) recommends a 33" or 34" bat. To help choose between the two sizes, you would really need to try out both sizes that a friend or teammate had to determine which you felt more comfortable with.
Mac
I am 5' 1" and weigh about 120 lbs. what size bat should I get? Alesha
Based on the information you gave, I recommend a 32" 22 oz. in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
Zach
I am 5'6" and weigh 110 lbs. What size bat should I use? lolalola
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 32" model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch.
Jason
What size and weight Xeno for my daughter who is 14 years old, 5'8", lefty, about 175 lbs. I'm thinking 34 inch. She has a tendency to drop her shoulder some swings so would the lighter one help correct this? K
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 34" 24 oz. 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR). A 33" 23 oz. bat would help her increase her swing speed.
Kara
We are looking for a good team bat. Do you have any suggestions? We play 19 and older recreational ladies fastball. Phedra
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR) would actually be a really great bat to take a look at it. It has been extremely popular and highly reviewed as well. The two-piece composite design makes it great for players who are contact hitters and power hitters. It will be pretty versatile for players, and will also be high performing. The 2014 DeMarini CF6 Hope: (DXCFH) has also been very popular, and would be a great option to take a look at. It will also be a two-piece composite design and will have a really great sweet spot on the barrel.
Merritt
My daughter is 11 years old, 5 foot 2 and weighs 113 pounds. She is currently swinging a 31 inch aluminum bat. She plays fast pitch travel softball and we are looking to purchase a Xeno bat. Which size do you recommend? CC
Based on your player's height and weight we would suggest the 32 inch size of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
Patrick
My daughter is 16 years old, 5'7" 1/2 and 150 lbs. She currently has a DeMarini CF5 Insane 33/23. She's in the market for a new bat and is looking at the Xeno and the DeMarini CF7 Insane. She is a good hitter when she makes solid contact, but tends to pop a lot of balls up. Which bat would be a better option for her? Also, is the 33" length still a good length for her? TJ1089
Based on her approximate height and weight, the suggested length we would recommend would be 33 inches. Also, based on her hitting style, I would probably recommend looking for a more balanced bat. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR) will be extremely balanced and the even weight distribution will make it easier to swing through a little bit faster and smoother.
Merritt
My daughter is 12 about 5'0 90lbs. What length would you recommend? Amanda
Based on according to our Bat Coach, it suggests a 31" length in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
Zach
My daughter is 12 years old. She is 5.5 and 103lbs. What size bat should she be using? val
I would suggest the 32"/22 oz. size of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) based on your daughter's height and weight.
Bobby
My daughter is 5' and weighs 87 lbs. She is not a power hitter. She currently has a 30" 19 oz. bat. Would a 31" bat be too heavy for her? Kenny shay
We recommend a 30" 20 oz. 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR). We recommend not to increase to a 31" 21 oz. unless she is a power hitter.
Kara
My 10 yr. old daughter is 5'4", weighs 106 and is the power hitter on her 10u team. Is a 31 inch bat the right size? Boltzfan
Our Bat Coach recommends a 32" length in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-44) based on her height and weight. If she would like to go down to a 31" length she cant its really based on her personal preference.
Zach
My daughter is currently using the 2014 Demarini CF6. She is 5'2" and 95 lbs., solid hitter. Would this bat be a good choice for her? If so, what size would you recommend? bat girl
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is very similar to the DeMarini CF6. It is a great option for a player her size. Based on her height and weight we recommend a 32" 22 oz. bat.
Kara
Tired of buying bats by not being able to demo first. We just tried the CF6 in a 33" 23 oz. and it did not work out. Currently she swings a Black XENO 2012 33" 23 oz. I think. What is the difference between the black XENO 2012, Xeno 2014 and the Easton MAKO? All in the 33" 23 oz.. My daughter is 12 years old. 5' 7" and around 160 -170 lbs. Thanks Tony
All three bats are two-piece composite bats and are very high performing. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) and the Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite (FP12X) both use the same high performing LS-2X composite materials. The 2014 Easton MAKO (FP14MK) has a slightly longer barrel for a bigger sweet spot.
Kara
I am getting ready to start my 2nd year of High School ball and I'm unsure on what size of this bat I should get. I'm 5'7" and weigh about 115 pounds. Any recommendations? Shanel
According to your height and weight I would recommend a 32" length in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR). I would go with the 32" 22 oz. in the Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
Zach
My daughter is 5'7" and 140 lbs. She tends to have a slower swing. What size and brand of bat would work well for her? softball mom
We recommend a 33" 23 oz. for her height and weight. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is a very balanced bat. This will help with a player with slower bat speed.
Kara
My daughter is 17 years old 5'5" and about 195 lbs. We got her a 2014 33" 23 oz. -10 Xeno. She used it maybe three times. She said it's too light. Should we get a 34" 24 oz. or find one that is drop 9? During high school ball she used a RockeTech. We believe the weight on it is 33" 23 oz. ,not for sure, but she said that the Xeno was lighter than the RockeTech so she used the RockeTech. She wants a Xeno. lilbus1096
The RockeTech is slightly end loaded and is a 33" 24 oz. If she likes the weight of the RockeTech, the 34" 24 oz. 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is a good choice.
Kara
My player currently swings a 33" 23 oz, 2012 FP12X TPS Xeno. She's always swung a balanced bat and the 2012 Xeno is the perfect length and weight. She's going to buy a 2014 FPXN14 but isn't sure of the drop. We've heard that the 2014 -10 drop swings light; is that true? Should she stick with the 33" 23 oz. or go up to a 34" 24 oz.? She's never swung an end load, could the extra ounce in a 33" 24 oz. be too much of a change and throw off her swing? Coach P
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is a balanced bat. The length of the bat is best determined by a players height and weight. If she has good bat speed with the 33" 23 oz., we would recommend to move to a 24 oz. bat. Here is a link to our bat coach to determine the correct length: http://www.batwarehouse.com/bat-coach/
Kara
It says this is good to go out of the wrapper. Does it need a break in period before hitting in a game situation? Niki
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch bat does not require a break-in period. The S1iD Inner Disc technology provides the performance right out of the wrapper.
Mac
I am looking to upgrade my daughter's bat. She is turning 13 and is small for her age. She is approximately 4'7" and 69 lbs. She is currently using a 29" 20 oz bat. She is not a power hitter, but has solid infield hits and bunts. Would this be a good bat for her and what size? BB
Based on her approximate height and weight, the suggested size we would recommend would be 30 inches in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR). However, a 29 inch would also work as well. This model will fit her playing style as a contact hitter. The two-piece design will provide plenty of flex as she swings through the zone, or bunts. The LS-2X composite material will also give some good pop throughout the span of its lifetime, and would be an excellent choice for her.
Merritt
Can this bat be used with soft toss balls? bradniki
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) is intended to be used only with approved softballs. If it is used with another style of ball, the durability could be affected. The bats are designed, rated, and tested very specifically to be as high performing with real softballs as possible given the restrictions enforced for play so they would not be tested for hitting other objects.
Patrick
Does anyone know when the 2015 Louisville Slugger Xeno will be available? jazzy jazz
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Xeno is projected to be released July 1st, 2014.

According to your daughter's height and weight I would recommend a 31" length in 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR).
Zach
I am a power hitter. Would I be better off with the Xeno or DeMarini CF6 Insane to match me best? I am also 5'9" and 180 lbs. What size is suggested? kandicem
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch tends to be better for contact hitters because of the balanced swing weight. The DeMarini CF6 Insane is an ideal bat for power hitters because of the end loaded swing weight. Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 34" model.
Jason
My daughter is 5' 2" and 135 lbs. She's going into high school and wants to get a new bat. What should we get. It needs lots of pop. TY
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR Fastpitch) would be a great model if you're looking for a balanced bat with lots of pop. The two-piece fully composite design will also allow for faster swing speeds and higher performance.
Brandon
I'm 5'2" and I weigh about 130 lbs. I want to get a 2015 Xeno but I don't know what size and weight to get. I'm a power hitter and I bunt very often. TD
Based on your approximate height and weight, I would suggest a 32/22 in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR). Therefore, this size would also work well if you are considering moving up to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Xeno as well.
Merritt
15 years old- 118 pounds 5ft 4 in -- slapper -- hits right and left. Slappy
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) would be a great fit for a slap hitter. I would recommend a 32" bat based on your height and weight.
Bobby

Bobby
My daughter is 5'1" and weighs 158 lbs. What size should I buy? Jane
Based on the player's approximate height and weight, I would suggest a 33" in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR).
Merritt
My daughter is 13 and has had a DeMarini Vendetta for a while now looking to upgrade. Her current bat is a -12. She is 5'6" and weighs 130 lbs. What size would she need? meggiemay
If she has good bat speed I would recommend a 33" 23 oz. for her height and weight. If she doesn't have a quick bat I would recommend a 33" 22 oz., drop -11.
Damon

The 2015 Louisville Slugger Xeno will be released on July 1st for purchase.
Cooper
I'm going to buy a new bat, but I'm not sure what length and weight would fit me. I'm 5'4" and weigh about 160 lbs. softballgirl23
Based on your approximate height and weight, I would suggest 33" in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno: (FPXN14-RR).
Merritt
Wondering what size bat my daughter should swing? She is 5'1" and 110 lbs. Buck
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 32" model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno (FPXN14-RR) Fastpitch.
Jason
My daughter is 16 years old she is 5 foot 9 and weighs 180. Her coach recommends a 34 inch 24 ounce bat. She currently uses a 33 inch 23 ounce and does very well. Should I get the bigger bat? david
Based on her height and weight, a 34 inch 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) would be something that would probably fit. In general, the best policy is to have the player swing the heaviest bat they are comfortable swinging without losing bat speed. The heavier the bat, if the swing speed stays the same, the more power they can produce.
Patrick
My daughter weighs 105 lbs and her height is 5'. What size bat do you recommend? kelly17
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR).
Jason
My daughter is 12, 5'3" and 120 lbs. She hits line drives and fly balls. Is the 2104 Xeno for her? Or should we be looking at a different bat? Kelly
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat: (FPXN14-RR) has been extremely popular and is going to be a very high performing model. This bat is going to be ideal for contact-hitters. The two-piece, balanced, full composite design, makes it easy for players to generate added bat speed through the swing zone. The two-piece structure will also provide players with some added flex. Overall, I think this model will work extremely well.
Merritt
I just bought this bat for my daughter. The Xeno makes a different sound than other bats when hit. Is that normal? marte
Absolutely. The S1iD Inner Disc Technology in the barrel of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) seems to attribute to the sound. As long as you're not noticing a sharp decline in performance, the bat should be just fine.
Mac
What is the difference between the 2014 Xeno and the new 2015 Xeno? Alison
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) and the 2015 Xeno are almost identical bats. The only difference is the cosmetic appearance.
Jason
If I buy a 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno bat off of this website and it breaks, what are the return policies? Mac
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) is featured under a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty. If the bat breaks within those 12 months after the purchase, the bat will be eligible for replacement directly through Louisville Slugger. They require that the bat be sent back to them to be eligible for warranty replacement.
Patrick
What is the main difference between the Xeno and the Lt Xeno? Dad
If you are referring to the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) when you say the "lt xeno", they would actually be two different models. The LXT is similar to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) in that they both feature the S1iD technology that minimizes break in time and maximizes barrel reinforcement. They are different in their connection point technology. The LXT features the TRU3 3 piece technology that the Xeno does not which features more advanced sting or vibration protection and slightly more flex than the connection point on the Xeno. The Xeno will, therefore, have a stiffer feel.
Patrick
What does the rr in fpxn14-rr mean? larry
The RR in the model number of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) is just the code that designates which drop weight the bat is.
Patrick
My daughter has the FPLX14-RR. Which new bat would match this one that she currently uses? She has a 33" 23 oz model. Geri
The new model of the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) is the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150).
Jason
Is it balanced or end-loaded? cdenn
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) is a balanced design.
Patrick
Is it okay to use with the dimple balls from the machine? mikero
If at all possible, it is best to avoid the dimple cage balls with the 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR). The dimple balls are more dense than standard softballs and can cause durability problems with the bat.
Jason
When is it too cold to use the Xeno? marc
We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Louisville Slugger XENO (FPXN14-RR), in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.
Kelby
My daughter uses a 2014 Xeno 32/22 in the late spring and early fall seasons. Is there an aluminum bat with the same drop and balance that you would recommend for colder weather? Tiger10
We don't recommend using 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN14-RR or any bat under 55 degree weather due to how dense the balls become and that effecting the durability of the bat.
Ryan
Does this xeno bat have a stiffer feel than the demarini cf7? juju
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) and the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Fastpitch Softball Bat (DXCFF) are both going to be two-piece designed bats which allows for a whip like effect through the zone. Neither bat is going to feel as stiff as a one-piece designed bat would.
Liz
My child is 5' 2" and weighs 88 lbs. I am looking at the 2015 XENO 31/20 because she is very small in stature. softball mom
The Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) is offered in a drop 10, a better choice for your daughter in the drop 11 that you had mentioned might be the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN151).
Joe
My daughter is 5'2", 110 lbs., and is 11 yrs old. Is the Xeno, -10, 31" good for her? Travie
Based on her height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 32" Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR). Sizing is definitely preferential, so if she would feel more comfortable using a 31" bat, that is definitely something to take into consideration.
Tessa
We just purchased a new 2015 Xeno -11 for our daughter and it rattles when she makes contact. is this normal? Jared
It is possible for both the Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN151) you had purchased that the glue used in constructing the composite barrel will bead up, dry and break off on the interior of the bat. It does create an alarming rattling sound, however the performance of the bat should not be affected.
Joe
My daughter is 5 foot 2 inches, 145 lbs and is 17 yrs old. What size would you recommend? Jeff
Based on her height and weight we would recommend getting the Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) in a 32 inch.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
