Description

The hottest bat in slow pitch softball just got hotter! Regarded as one of the most technologically advanced bats on the field, the Z-3000 brings its S1iD Technology back to the diamond and pairs it with Louisville Slugger's new Tru3 Technology. This first ever 3-piece technology was created to strengthen the link between the barrel and handle, and give the Z-3000 a trampoline spring and dramatically reduced vibration on contact. This straighter, thicker rubber ring results in a bat that's not only sturdier, but feels better with every swing! The three-piece Z-3000 is built entirely from Louisville Slugger's 360 Composite. This thinner, high-strength, and lightweight composite is made from graphite fibers that allow more durability, while reducing overall wall thickness. Inside the barrel, SWING 1 inner Disc (S1iD) Technology allows the walls to flex to their maximum allowable level... even on the first swing! S1iD means that you get a larger, higher performing sweet spot right out of the wrapper! The Z-3000 features an end-loaded 12 inch pro-style barrel and a 7/8 inch standard handle with a newly designed synthetic grip for an outstanding feel. Louisville Slugger: Champions Swing Slugger! The Z-3000 is approved for play in ASA and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

So hot it broke the first practice Jacob coach

Pros: Hot right out of the wrapper. Felt really good and thought I had made the perfect choice.

Cons: Bat busted at some point during the first practice. Bat was just completely dead. This would probably be an excellent bat if it had lasted a reasonable amount of time.

Love it so far... Jeremy Jordan player

Pros: Pulled mine out of the wrapper tonight, bat never touched a ball until my first AB tonight..we use the 300/52 balls and I purchased a 26oz.(light i know but felt the best to me) first 2 AB's it took some adjusting to the weight....second game of the double hitter..i hit 3 line drives that hit the fence before the outfielders ever moved....This bat dose have a almost Golf Club like sound....I had several people asking me what the hell is that lol..it sounds broke..etc... truth be told Ive never felt like Ive ever mashed a ball that hard in my life...complete seeds. Very impressed with the pop so far.. hits the "mush ball" very well

Cons: I will more than likely re tape the handle..the OEM one is good..I just prefer more the "baseball" tape style.. not really a big deal. I just hope the bat holds up.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Z-3000 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SBZ314-AB? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Can you use the Z-3000 with .44 core softballs? How will it perform with .44 core? Will using .44 core softballs effect warranty? Whats temperature range for use of bat? Slowpitch13
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Z-3000 Balanced ASA (SBZ314-AB) features the new ASA stamp, so it will perform well against the 44 COR balls, however, it will become damaged a lot quicker since the new ASA bats are tested for use against softer balls such as the 52 core 300 compression balls. Generally, we do not recommend using any bat in temperatures below 55 degrees.

Is this bat's barrel multi-wall? My league has recently banned multi-wall bats, and I'm not sure what the difference is between multiple walls and multi-layer composite. az
This 2014 Louisville Slugger Z-3000 Balanced ASA (SBZ314-AB) Slow Pitch bat features the S1ID Inner Disc technology which your league will likely consider a Multi-Wall barrel design. You probably cannot use the Z-2000 or Z-3000 models because of this, but I would absolutely check with a league director. They should be able to provide a list of approved and non-approved bats. All composite bats are composed of multiple layers of materials, other than models like the COMBAT Portent that indicate otherwise, so it can be a bit confusing to decipher between the two.

There have been many durability complaints and concerns about the Z-2000 & Z-3000 bats. What insight do you have about these concerns and the durability problems. I've seen and heard testimony where new Z-3000's have 4" cracks after a dozen or less swings. Is this bat truly unreliable for durability, or is more likely many of the accounts have somehow misused the bat? Like using older balls or hitting it in cold weather? J Rock
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Z-3000 Balanced ASA (SBZ314-AB Slow Pitch) will be a very high performing bat. It is in fact created for the softer, more mushy .52 core balls. Hitting the harder .44 core balls may lower the durability of this bat at a quicker pace. The recommended temperature for use is 60 degrees or above.

Can you use this bat in USSSA? Going back and forth between leagues and would like a bat I can use in both. e
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Z-3000 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SBZ314-AB) is only certified for play in ASA. It does not have the USSSA stamp. Here is a link to all the models we currently have that have both the ASA and USSSA stamps: http://goo.gl/81noAl

Does this bat have the ASA 2012 stamp on it? In our league, the ASA stamp has to have 2012 included. Bob
The ASA stamp from 2012 on did not feature the year it was sanctioned. The previous 2004 ASA stamp had the year on it. This Louisville Slugger Z-3000 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SBZ314-AB) has the newer stamp. It will not say 2012 though.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
