Decent, but not worth the money TexasStix2017 player

Pros: This bat is a good bat for power hitters, but overall i do not like the feel. I originally bought this and planned to use it as my primary bat, but the 2013 Easton XL1 exceeded the bat by far. I have used marucci and i love them, but I am sorry to say this is not a great bat.

Cons: The sting is severe if you dont hit it perfect. And overall feel of the bat isnt to my liking. The bat doesnt feel weighted correctly even for an end-loaded bat.

The Best Bat I have Ever Swung Dingers & Stingers Inc. player

Pros: This bat has a very nice sized sweet spot but does not sacrifice swing weight to attain it. I'm 6-2 so it might just be because I'm big that I can swing it. However, some other smaller kids on my team use it and love it too. Despite not being a 2 piece bat, I have yet to have my hands really stung by this bat. The grip is simply amazing, feeling better without than with batting gloves. I have swung my friend's Mako and another friend's Voodoo and the difference between this bat and the Mako is minuscule. Despite having a lighter swing weight, I thought that the sweet spot was a little smaller. As stated before however, these differences were almost nonexistent. Compared to the Demarini Voodoo, this bat has just as large a sweet spot while maintaining a more balanced feel. The graphics are simple, yet extremely sleek looking.

Cons: The ping is louder than my old Surge Every bat chips, this one does too, but is better than most. Mine has very little chipping after 3 months of use. You can definitely feel it if you mishit a ball badly, I like this, however not everyone does.

Best there is Henry player

Pros: Such good pop, really cool looking, you get compliments on it all the time, half the price of the new eastons with better pop and a better feel. The grip is really comfy too.

Cons: Paint will chip, looks badly when dirty, but bats get dirty. Just while it off.

Great Bat! Caleb Robinson player

Pros: So far I've used this bat through out my whole varsity years coming to this last season, wonderful bat I'd honestly say its probably the best I've had out through my whole career, can't complain at all. I would defiantly recommend this bat to anyone playing junior varsity or varsity baseball.

Cons: Little chip pings of the top of the bat only due to practice, other than that none!

Cons: After long batting sessions, the small amounts of vibration start to get to you. Its still a wondeful bat though.

Marucci Black Tim BHS Baseball player

Pros: This bat is the bomb. Besides that, when you get a hit, the ball trampolines off the bat. You can really hit with some power if you turn the ball and even if you dont hit it right you can still drive the ball. I'd recommend this for contact and power hitters alike.

Cons: Vibration will get to you if you are taking long sessions of BP or double headers.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBB14? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What happened to the Black 2? What is the Marucci One? beast
Marucci opted to just go back to the naming that line of bats "Marucci Black". The Marucci One is replacing the Marucci Team line. The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult is the new model of the 2013 Marucci Black 2 BBCOR: MCBB20 Adult.
Marcus
I need help on deciding on if I should by this bat or 2014 Marucci One Can you post a video on each bat, or let me know which is better for a gap hitter with pop? Mac Pender
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult bat would be my pick. I like the AZ3000 Aerospace alloy barrel and Carbon composite handle. The swing weight and silencer grip are also great for your type of hitter.
Brandon
I'm a power gap hitter and am undecided between this bat and the 2014 Marucci Elite. Which would suit me better? Nick
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult and Elite are both well balanced two-piece hybrid designs with an alloy barrel and a composite handle. The Elite goes one step further and replaces the seamlessly transitions the last few inches of the barrel to composite to remove some "dead weight," resulting in a more balanced model. This added technology would be more beneficial to a contact hitter more than a power hitter, such as yourself, but both are great options.
Katie
What is the better bat? This 2014 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR or 2013 Marucci Elite BBCOR? dylan
Both are great bats. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR will be more end loaded for a power hitter, whereas the 2013 Marucci Elite will be more balanced.
Damon
Which is better the 2014 Marucci Black or the 2014 Marucci Elite? What are the differences? Beast_Mode34
Both the Marucci Black and the Marucci Elite are going to be two-piece designs. The Marucci Black will have a larger barrel giving it a slightly end-loaded swing weight. The Marucci Elite is going to be a very balanced design.
John
What are the differences in the 2013 and 2014 Marucci Black? Sam
The 2014 Marucci Black and the 2013 Marucci Black2 are both comprised of the same carbon composite handle seamlessly transitioned into the extended AZ3000 aerospace alloy barrel, but Marucci has refined the profile and lowered the balance point on the new 2014 Black to make this power-hitters dream bat even more balanced and better feeling than ever before.
Tori
Which bat has a longer barrel, the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR or the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR? Which bat is better, the Marucci Black or the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR? luis uribe
Both are good bats. The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR will have a longer barrel than the 2014 Marucci Black. The Easton XL1 will have a composite barrel, so after it is broken in it will have more of a trampoline effect than the Marucci Black.
Damon
Okay, I am looking for a slightly end loaded bat but not too much. I am a contact and power hitter both. I hit gaps a lot. Would the 2014 Marucci Black be better for me or the 2014 Demarini Voodoo Paradox? Thank you. baseballboy11
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult is slightly end loaded and would be a great fit. The 2014 Voodoo is stiffer, and more end loaded, better for a power hitter.
Kara
I am 13. Would this be a good first BBCOR bat? Trae
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult has a balanced swing weight and is a great bat for a first year BBCOR player.
Jason
I'm a contact/power hitter who hits a lot up the middle and into the gaps. Would this be good bat for me? Trae
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult combines a balanced swing weight that is usually preferred by contact hitters with an extended barrel and stiff flex that will benefit a power hitter. It would be a good option for a player who hits for both contact and power.
Mac
I am a high school varsity baseball player. I just got this bat not too long ago. Is this bat legal for high school/college use? Steve
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult has the BBCOR certification, which is required for high school and collegiate play.
Katie
I'm an average to bigger baseball player in 9th grade. First year of having to use a BBCOR bat. I have used a BBCOR bat before. I want a balanced bat that with give me fast bat speed but also give me the opportunity to take a few yard this upcoming season is this the bat that will be the best to my advantage? BallIsLife09
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult would be a great option for you. It combines a balanced swing weight, which is preferred by contact hitters, and an extended barrel and a stiff flex that is complimentary for a power hitter. It would be a great option for your first BBCOR bat.
Tessa L.
How does this bat differ from the 2013 Black and MAKO? Pats14
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult and the 2013 Marucci Black 2 use the same quality alloy and composite materials. They are both two-piece bats with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Easton MAKO is a two-piece composite bat with an extended barrel.
Kara
Which bat feels more like a wood bat? The Marucci Black or the Easton XL1? I prefer wood bats. But have to use a metal bat for high school. akatz334
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: MCBB14 Adult bat would have more of a one-piece feel. The seamless hybrid design would feel stiffer like a wood bat. The XL1 will be a two-piece design.
Brandon
I am a freshmen that is 5'9" 235 lbs and a power hitter. Would this bat be a good choice? Is this bat a 2 piece?" elk34
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) Adult is a balanced two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Marucci Black has an extended barrel for a larger sweet spot and is an excellent bat for any type of hitter.
Jason
I am 5' 9", 235 pounds, and a power hitter. Would the Marucci Black 2014 or the Marucci Elite 2014 be a better bat? And is this bat a two-piece? elk34
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: (MCBB14) Adult offers a larger barrel length than the Elite which makes it a bit less balanced. As a power hitter, you can most likely swing the Black efficiently even though it may feel a bit heavier. In the end, it comes down to your preference toward the swing weight. The Elite is the most balanced bat in the Marucci product line, but both of these bats are two-piece seamless hybrids that offer a stiff flex on contact. The stiff flex is another characteristic that a power hitter would benefit from.
Mac
I am starting high school and don't know if i should get the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR or the 2014 Marucci Elite BBCOR. I am 5'6" 115 lbs. What should I get? reesehebert
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) and the 2014 Marucci Elite BBCOR (MCBE14) are both two-piece bats with a composite handle and alloy barrel. Both bats are very high performing. The Marucci Elite is more balanced due to the composite material at the end of the bat.
Kara
Whats the difference between this model and last years model? Nate
Tessa L.
I am 15, 5' 7" 135 lbs, and a prototypical 2 hole hitter. Would this bat be good for me? Ryan
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14 Adult) would be a great model for you as a 2 hole hitter. Another good, balanced option would be the 2014 Marucci ONE BBCOR.
Justin R.
I am 5'7" 148 pounds. I like the Marucci Black and the One. Which one should I get? delgado
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) is a two-piece design and designed for a contact hitter. It has a slightly longer barrel than the One. The One is stiffer, and best for a power hitter. It is more balanced than the Marucci Black.
Kara
Is this bat balanced or end-loaded because I have looked at other questions asked and some say end-loaded and some say balanced, what is it? CP3
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) features an evenly balanced swing weight.
Bobby
kid is a number four or five hitter good contact hitter with power. Height 6'2 weight 190 what brand do you recommend. Likes a well balanced bat with 32 or 33 in length? mike
The 2014 DeMarini CF6 BBCOR: (DXCFC) would be a great option to check out, and would fit his playing style extremely well. The two-piece composite design will allow some good flex, and the paradox composite used will also provide excellent power. This model is extremely balanced and will be very easy to generate fast bat speed. DeMarini uses very high quality materials, and has received some excellent reviews as well.
Merritt
I bat 6th for my high school team as a freshman, and I'm more of a contact hitter, but show flashes of power sometimes. I currently have the Demarini Vexxum. Should I go with the marucci Black, or stay with the Demarini bats with the new overlord? Buck
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD BBCOR (DXVDC) is end loaded and designed for a power hitter. The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) is not as end loaded and is better suited for a contact hitter with some power.
Kara
Which bat is better? this or the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR: DXVXC RichKid3
Both the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) and the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR (DXVXC) are both going to be very similar. They both are two-piece hybrid design's. I would go with the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR (DXVXC).
Kyle
Will this bat be dropping in price soon? rice
We run daily flash sales and periodically liquidation sales. As far as will we be dropping the price soon that is hard to tell. Definitely, sign up for our email updates that will be you best indication of when we do.
Zach
What is the difference between this and the black 2? REABBA12
There are no major differences between the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) and the Marucci Black 2 BBCOR (MCBB20). The only difference is the color/paint scheme on the two models.
Jason
Will this bat need to be broken in or will it be game ready? Will
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) has an alloy barrel and will not require a break-in. It will be hot out of the wrapper.
Jason
Is this bat drop 3? livestrong14
Yes, the Marucci Black 2 (MCBB20) features a -3 length to weight ratio.
Bobby
Looking for either this bat or the Elite for my 16 year-old son who is primarily a contact hitter. Is there a recommendation between the Elite or Black MCBB14? question in Springs
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) and the 2014 Marucci Elite BBCOR (MCBE14) are both designed for a contact hitter. However, the Marucci Black has a longer barrel and will be slightly end loaded compared to the Marucci Elite.
Kara
We have a Marucci Black in a 30" 25 oz and love it. We have to go to BBCOR. What is the difference between these bats? Fred
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) has the exact same design as the Senior League Black. The main differences is the length to weight ratio is a -3 on the BBCOR and the restrictions are higher. The BBCOR Black might not perform quite as well as the Senior League bat because it has higher restrictions on the bat for safety.
Jason
Is this model of the Marucci Black more balanced than the Marucci Black 2? If so, does it have less pop than the last model? FLB
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) will have very similar pop and performance to the Marucci Black 2 BBCOR. The swing weight and balance will also feel very similar.
Brandon
How does this bat compare to the MAKO? Also, will there be a Marucci Black 3? clayton
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR: (MCBB14) and the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR: (BB14MK) will both be high performing balanced bats. The biggest difference will be the overall structure. The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) will be a hybrid design incorporating an alloy barrel and composite handle. The 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR (BB14MK) will consist of a two-piece composite design, but both models will provide similar flex. As for Marucci, I am not entirely sure if they will come out with a Marucci Black 3 at this time. However, some of their new products are estimated to come out around October of this year.
Merritt
Is there a chance the 2014 Black or the 2013 Black 2 will be decertified? I see the price has come down, and I was wondering if that was why. JoeLip
There is always a chance that any bat could be decertified, but the price drop on the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) and 2013 Black 2 is not related to any ruling on these bats. The only reason the price has dropped, is that these models are no longer being produced. Marucci will release a 2015 product line closer to the Fall, and they have allowed us to drop the listed price on previous years' models.
Mac
I cannot decide between this bat and the Rawlings Trio. Could you help? I hit for a high average with some power here and there. james
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) would be a very high performing bat. The handle technology will help eliminate much of the hand sting felt on mishits. The Rawlings Trio and its composite end cap technology will provide a very light weight and balanced feel. The performance and pop will also be very high.
Brandon
Which is better the Marucci Black or the Rawlings VELO? Daniel
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) and the Rawlings VELO would be awesome bat choices. The Black would eliminate more hand sting and vibration. The VELO would swing slightly lighter. Both bats have a very high performance and great durability.
Brandon
I heard that the 2013 Marucci Black 33/30 BBCOR bat was decertified for NCAA and HS play (Illegal). Is this true and what about the 2014 Marucci 33/30 BBCOR bat? jbitakis
The 2012 Marucci Black (MCB11) was banned in the 33" and 34". The 2013 Marucci Black 2 (MCBB20) was not decertified by NCAA or High School play and neither is the 2014 Marucci Black (MCBB14).
John
Is the 2014 Marucci Black better than the 2014 Easton XL1? AB
Both the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) and the Easton XL1 are equally great bats depending on the type of hitter you are. The Marucci Black has a more balanced swing weight and is typically better for contact hitters. The Easton XL1 has a more end loaded swing weight and is usually better for power hitters.
Jason
How does this bat's flex compare to the DeMarini M2M's? Basehit
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) will have a stiffer feel than the DeMarini M2M.
Bobby
Is the Black more top heavy than the Easton S1? ZAZ
Yes, the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is going to be slightly more end loaded compared the the 2014 Easton S1.
Cooper
Is the MCBB14 listed as certified anywhere? Is it for use in any level of play? Little League web page has the Marucci Black decertified, period! Tim
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is BBCOR certified and has a stamp on the bat proving so. It is made for Adult high school and college leagues.
Brandon
By the looks of the bat, it seems like it has a one-piece feel, does it? baseballgod19
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) will have an internal two-piece, half and half construction. But as you said, the outside feel of the handle to the barrel will feel not have a connection piece. It would seem like a one-piece bat to the naked eye.
Brandon
I am excited to play my first year of college baseball this year but I am looking for the right bat. Which bat is recommended for a more of a contact hitter than power surge. I'm looking between the 2014 Marucci Black and the 2014 Rawlings 5150, please help. Bobby
Both the Rawlings 5150 and the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) can be swung by power or contact guys. The Black BBCOR may feel slightly less barrel heavy which will feel better during your swing. It will make your bat speed faster.
Brandon
Is this bat still legal to use or will they be banned soon? cheeses
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR (MCBB14) is BBCOR certified and approved for play in High School and NCAA play. We have heard of no rumors to this bat becoming illegal at this time.
John
Will this bat be as end loaded as the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo? baseball2
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) will not feel as end loaded as the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR.
Brandon
im about to start high school ball and im not sure if i should get the marucci black, the cat 5, marucci one, or marucci team. i am more of a contact hitter, which would you recommend? baseball25
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is specifically designed for contact hitters with a two-piece hybrid design featuring a composite handle and the AZ3000 Aerospace-grade alloy. The 2014 Marucci ONE BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCB1) is going to be very similar to the MCBB14 with the same AZ3000 Aerospace-grade alloy, except it is a one-piece design. The Marucci CAT 5 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCB2) is going to be very similar to the MCB1, as it is a well-balanced one-piece design, except it will be manufactured from a slightly lesser grade alloy.
Joe
I know when swinging my Easton Mako in colder weather it does not perform as well. When I looked into it, it turns out that Easton does not recommend swinging their better two piece bats in temps below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Would this be a good bat to replace my Mako in those colder temperatures? Jacob Thomas
Really all bats can see issues in cold weather because the ball can condense in temperatures below 55 degrees and it can become harder. While alloy barrel bats like the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) do stand up in cold weather better than composite barrel bats like the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14MK), they still can have issues when hitting these harder balls.
Patrick
What bat would you most recommend around/under $250 for a power hitter? baseball1635
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) would be a great choice for a power hitter. Marucci has designed this hybrid bat (composite handle/alloy barrel) with a seamless connection point, which won't allow a power hitter to lose anything due to bat flex. Also, the extended barrel is attractive for any power hitter, as the longer barrel will make up for swings that could have produced miss-hits in the past. Certainly consider the Marucci Black!
Ben
I have heard good things about this bat and want to give it a shot. I am hesitant to buy it because I owned a cat 5 and a marucci team bat and i hated the feel of both those. I also ended up breaking both, which almost never happens to me. So I guess I am asking how durable is this bat compared to Rawlings or Easton bbcors? Also how similar is this bat to the team marucci and cat 5? College player
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is a seamless two-piece alloy bat. It features an extended barrel and enhanced sweet spot as well as a ring-free barrel. In terms of durability, this bat is comparable to the Rawlings 5150 BBCOR. The Cat 5 is a one-piece alloy bat with a slightly lower grade alloy than the Marucci Black.
Joe
Should I get this or the Voodoo OVERLORD? I used the Voodoo Paradox last year, but I don't know if I should switch. jd
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) has a slight end loaded design, but it will feel more balanced than the Voodoo OVERLORD. If you are looking for more of an end loaded feel, and like the the Voodoo you currently have, then switching to the Voodoo OVERLORD is the best option for you. It is typically best to stick with the manufacturer you have had the most success with in the past.
Jason
my 13 year old has a mako 29/20 drop 9 and I need to get a bbcor bat as he will be in high school this year what bat do you recommend under $200.00? He isn't really big so a lightweight balanced feel is important Jeff
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBB14 would be a excellent option. The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBB14 features an extended barrel, a massive sweet spot and a evenly balanced swing weight.
Ryan
Do you recommend this over the marucci cat 6 because i am trying to choose between the two. zm05
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is a two-piece hybrid bat that is made for contact hitters. The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) is a one piece alloy which is typically recommended for power hitters. Either bat would be a great choice.
Tom
How balanced is this bat? Is it top heavy? camp18
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is a well balanced model that would not feel top heavy to most players. Some players that are new to BBCOR certified models may feel that it is slightly heavy due to the difference in drop weight from their previous bat.
Patrick
When is the 2015 Marucci Black BBCOR coming out? Doug
The 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) has been replaced with the 2015 Marucci Black OPS BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBRTBK).
Frankie

I am 5'10 180 lbs and mostly a power hitter. Will this model or the old Marucci Black 2 be better for me? Which one has more pop causing a greater drive? BigHitNick
The Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) and the Marucci Black 2 are the same bat. The only difference is updated cosmetic appearance. They both have an AZ3000 Aerospace Alloy Barrel and a Carbon Composite Handle and feature a slightly end loaded design. Both bats will provide you with equal pop and drive. Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 33" model.
Jason
What is the difference between the Marucci Black and the CAT 5? Highschool player
The Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) features a two-piece hybrid bat with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The CAT 5 is a one-piece alloy bat. The CAT 5 has an extremely balanced swing weight and the Marucci Black has a slightly end loaded swing weight.
Jason
My son is a contact hitter and prefers a bat that can help produce more swing speed. Would the Black (two piece) or Cat 5 or 6 (one piece) better suit him? He is 5 foot 10 and weighs 135 pounds. Jim
The two-piece design of the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) provide a bit more flex which can create a whipping motion that will increase bat speed that would not be featured in the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614). So for bat speed, I would lean more toward the Black.
Patrick
I am a 6 foot 1 sophomore and I weigh 145 pounds. Should I use a 32/29 or 33/30? Jordan.21
For your size we would recommend a 33" bat in the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14).
Allison

Some of the most popular bats for your son other than the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) will be the Easton MAKO, DeMarini CF7, RIP-IT Helium, and the Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR bats. We would highly suggest any and all of these!
Brandon
What is the difference between the MCBB14 and the MCBB20? pauly d
The Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is the newer variation of the Marucci Black 2 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB20). The prices for older model are somewhat dependent upon our stock as well as the sizes.
Joe
Is this bat illegal? I heard the 33 inch model is not allowed. nik
We have not received any notification of any of the sizes of the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) being made illegal. They would still be certified for play. The 2012 version of the bat in a 33 inch or 34 inch model were banned in the NCAA but not high school. This model is different and is legal.
Patrick
I am 5'8" and 130 lbs. What size should I get? D king

Joe
I am 5'9" and weigh 145 lbs. I am a contact hitter. Would you recommend this bat or the Rawlings 5150? Ryan
The Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is a two piece hybrid with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The two piece design will offer more flex through the hitting zone. The Rawlings 5150 bat is a one piece alloy bat that will have a stiffer flex than the Black.
Tom
I am almost 5'7" and 131 lbs. I have a 31" wood bat, but I think I am going to grow soon. Do you think I should get a 31" or 32"? tweal
Based on your current height and weight, we suggest a 31" model of the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) . If you are confident in your strength and swing speed though, you could certainly move up to a 32" model. You are not too far away from a 32" model being the suggested size.
Jason
Would this bat be like the 2015 VELO? I swung that bat and I really like it. If not, what would be a bat like the 2015 VELO? tweal
The Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) features a composite handle and alloy barrel and will feel slightly end loaded compared to the Rawlings VELO. A model comparable to the VELO is the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614).
Jason

I would recommend a 31" for your son in the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14).
John
I'm 5'6" 120 lbs. and a contact hitter. Is this Black better than the Cat 6? Landon
Typically we would recommend a two piece model such as the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) for a contact hitter such as yourself. The two piece models allow for additional flex through the zone, and also eliminate shock and vibration. One piece models such as the Cat 6 will be far more stiff through the zone.
Joe
I'm 5'10" and 115 pounds freshman in high school. I'm a contact hitter. What length do you recommend, a 32"? That one kid
Based on your size, we recommend the 31" 28 oz. model in the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14).

Joe
I know that the BBCOR specification requires the bat to be -3 without the grip. When I received my son's 32/29 bat, it weighed 31.5 ounces. Is it normal for a grip to add 2.5 ounces to the overall weight? Stan
The weight the grip would add would vary based on the material used and how much of it is used on the specific bat you got. The industry standard allows for around a 2-2.5 ounce variance in the listed weight versus the actual weight of bats like the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14). If you feel that your bat is an unacceptable weight, the manufacturer may be able to work with you on swapping that out. Of course, if it is unused, we can also take it back for you. If you have used it to hit with though, the manufacturer would be your best bet to get that corrected.
Patrick
I ordered this bat and got it in today. I'm going to have to return it, because I'm not allowed to use it in my league. However, there is no receipt. Reed.O
We would be happy to provide you with an e-mailed copy of your receipt. Give us a call at 1-866-321-2287.

Jason
Is it true that the BBCOR decertification process has been implemented for this bat in the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth division? I am specifically looking at the 33 inch -3 for my son. Kris
BBCOR certification is a process that takes place outside of league specific rules. It would not be that the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) can just be removed of its BBCOR certification but rather that a league can restrict its use. We have not gotten any specific information on this bat facing bans of any kind.
Patrick
I bought this bat not knowing it was kind of top heavy. What is one way I can adjust to the bat being top heavy? david72
Like anything else in sports, getting used to the weight of a bat like the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) will be about developing muscle memory. I usually recommend regularly swinging the bat in hitting situations. Going outside and swinging the bat about 50 times with good form once a day or every other day can help build up your muscle memory to be used to the feel of that bat.
Patrick
The MCBB14 is described as being a very well balanced bat, but many people in the questions and reviews refer to it as being top heavy or end-loaded. I'm getting the feeling that maybe it is somewhere in between? Scott
By design, the Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) is a balanced model. However, some players depending on strength or experience with BBCOR bats may feel that it has a bit more of an end loaded feel.
Patrick

Unfortunately, since Marucci is no longer making this bat any longer, I would have to comment that we most likely will not be re-stocking this Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) in the 32" length.
Ben
