Description

New! The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Bat! Ever since Rawlings released one of the first BBCOR bats on the market, they've been working hard to perfect the science behind creating the best BBCOR bat possible. The Rawlings VELO combines technology, balance, and low M.O.I. to help you generate ULTIMATE swing VELOcity! This begins with the VELO's Comp-Lite End Cap that is fused to the alloy barrel using Bi/fusion Technology. This composite end cap creates a lighter and more balanced feel at the end of the bat to increase swing speeds and lower M.O.I. It has been shown through testing that a 50-100 M.O.I. change can result in a noticeable increase in bat speed. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR is AT LEAST 200 M.O.I. BETTER than any competitor in a similar price range! Beyond just increasing swing speeds, the Rawlings VELO is a well-built piece of equipment. It features a one-piece design crafted from Rawlings' 5150 Alloy that has unmatched durability and trampoline effect. As a result of precision manufacturing 5150 Alloy bats are consistently hotter than other leading alloy bats and perform at the maximum level allowable by today's standards. Precision Optimized Performance (pOp) Technology is applied to the VELO to isolate extra weight into smaller regions on the barrel to further increase bat speed and eliminate the need for annoying rings found inside some BBCOR bats. Rawlings: The Mark of a Pro! The VELO is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. Free Shipping!

Pros: This bat has great pop and it's extremely easy to hit the ball right on the sweet spot. The bat has a good sound to it and when you hit the ball it jumps off the bat. This bat also seems like it wont be breaking anytime soon, it has a nice sturdy feel to it.

Hands down best bat I have used Jacob Reimold player

Pros: Velo is the way to go. Out of every bat I have used this is my favorite. It has amazing pop even in cold weather. It has an amazing feel unlike other bats, I feel like other bats now are very "clunky". What I mean is other bats unless you hit it on the sweet spot aren't as responding as the Velo. I have hit multiple homeruns and gap shots with this bat. It also is the most balanced bat I have ever swung.

Cons: Grip is nice but has ripped.

Great Pop Noah player

Pros: Has great pop. Sounds great and it feels great when you hit the ball. When you hit the sweet spot you don't even feel the ball touch the bat. The ball explodes off the bat. It looks great and feels great. Probably the best bat I've ever used.

Cons: The grip is starting to come off.

My son loves this bat Chong parent

Pros: My son is 16 and is 5-11 and weighs 165 lbs. He Velo is 33/30. He love this bat. He has tried different bats - Voodoo, CF5, Easton S2, and other bats from his teammates. He says that the Velo has the lightest swing weight. My son has a very strong core and as such, he has a very fast swing. With the Velo, his swing is faster. He wants the same bat next year. He'll keep his current one for batting cages and use the new one for BP to keep the number of hits down. Bottom line is, you can spend more money on the Mako or CF6 or XL1 or others. However, this one-piece bat is the way to go. The bat is incredibly balanced.

Cons: It's a one piece bat so it will sting a bit more than two-piece or composite bat.

Velo: Balanced and Durable with Pop Stud player

Pros: Has great feel and balance, I can generate great bat speed. Its very durable, was used through entire high school season by 5+ starters for BP and games and still had pop until our final playoff game. Enormous sweet spot excellent bat for contact hitters and still has great pop for gap and pull side power hitters

Cons: The grip started peeling midway through the season at the knob end after heavy use... but who buys a bat for the grip..

A champion bat Kale player

Pros: I used this bat last year, and loved it. It's very balanced. I made the mistake of purchasing a MAKO this year, and I regret it. I'm going back to the VELO. That's my personal preference, but I feel like the VELO has a bigger sweet spot. Also, I guess I'm partial to alloy BBCOR bats. Seems like the alloy BBCORs preform a little better than the composites. Again, just my opinion.

Cons: Not a huge fan of the grip, but I always replace stock grips.

GREAT BAT C L player

Pros: I've swung everything from easton to demarini to marucci, but this bat has the lightest swing i've ever felt before, with amazing pop and power to go with it. Bottom line is the faster your swing, the harder you will hit the ball. The bat is so light it will allow you to catch up to faster pitching, as well as have great control throughout the swing. If you chase a bad pitch, say a low breaking ball that dips out of the zone, you will often be able to at least foul it off because of how light this bat is, something that heavier and slower bats would whiff right over. I got the bat a year or so ago, and it has lost no "pop" and is not wearing out. I also have a team mate going division 1 whose had the bat almost 2 1/2 years and he's still using it like its brand new.

Cons: If you hit the ball off the handle or cap its gonna sting like the wrath of satan.

AMAZING Jackson B player

Pros: This was my first -3 bat. I've had this bat for 2 years and it still has great pop, good grip (I use gloves), has great bat speed and I can hit some Dingers with it like crazy and I hit some hard line drives with it to. Just all around a great bat!!

Cons: There is nothing bad about it. I mean If the bat grip comes off I would put on lizard grip.

Aubrey
Is this bat available now? I was under the impression it was not available until January 2014. j

Kara
What is a good bat for a first year hitting with bbcor? contact hitter that has a bit of power? Swung 31 26 xl1 last year? H
For the first BBCOR bat, I always recommend that the player choose a balanced model. The more balanced the bat is, the better swing speed you can generate. This is important when jumping in weight. This 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR: BBV3 Adult is a great option for a balanced bat, and I would also consider the DeMarini Vexxum NVS, CF6, Easton MAKO/S1, or Marucci Elite. There are many balanced bats on the market, so preference to brand and design factor into the decision.
Mac
Does this model come with any warranty? A
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR: BBV3 Adult comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty.
Kara
Are there any differences between the 2014 and 2013 models other than paint job? ben
Rawlings has not made any change to design, other than paint scheme, between the 2013 and 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR: BBV3 Adult. I assume they have put the bulk of their R&D efforts for this year's line into the TRIO models.
Mac
What is the difference in the 2014 VELO and the 2014 TRIO? d
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR: BBV3 Adult is a one-piece aluminum design. The 2014 Rawlings TRIO BBCOR: BBTRIO Adult is a hybrid design. Both models will be extremely balanced.
John H
What is the difference in the 2012 red colored Velo and the 2013/2014 Velo bats? bob
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR: BBV3 Adult bat and the 2013 model will be very similar. They will both feature Rawlings 5150 alloy material and have very light swing weights. They both will feature the Bi/fusion technology, pOp performance, and Comp/Lite composite end caps. The 2012 Velo model will not have the Comp/Lite end cap or feature the pOp performance.
Brandon
What is the difference between the 2014 VELO and the 2013 VELO? Which one is favored in your opinion? Ruben
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult and the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult are identical bats other than their cosmetic appearance.
Jason
Is the Rawlings VELO or the Marucci Black more of a balanced bat for a smaller high school player that is 5'6" and 105 lbs? TP
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult will be a more balanced bat.
Tori
Rawlings is calling the TRIO a three-piece bat which includes the Comp-lite end cap. Would this make the 5150 VELO a two-piece bat because it also has the Comp-Lite end cap? Same rationale, right? Under that theory, isn't every bat a two-piece bat because it has an end cap? The 2012 VELO didn't have the Comp-Lite end cap and it was considered a one-piece. Help me understand these distinctions. Scott
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult is a one-piece alloy that features the Comp-Lite end cap to take some weight out of the barrel. With the TRIO, Rawlings carried the composite in the Comp-Lite end cap into the barrel, so the last bit of the barrel is going to b made from composite. This serves to take some "dead weight" out of the barrel. The three pieces in the TRIO refer to the composite handle, alloy barrel and composite at the end of the barrel that is an extension of the Comp-Lite end cap.
Katie
Is there a big difference in the balance between the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBV3 and the 2014 Rawlings 5150 Alloy: SL5110? CHUCK
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 is more balanced than the 2014 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BB513.
Damon
Is the VELO more balanced than the RIP- IT Prototype AIR? sid
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR Baseball Bat: B1303A Adult are both very balanced bats.
Kara
Does the Velo require any break in time? Also, I usually swing a 32" but the 33" feels like its only 29 oz. Is this common? JROE
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) is a very balanced bat which could be why it swings lighter. The barrel of the bat will be alloy so it would not require a break-in period even though it has a composite end cap.
Kelby
I am 6" and weigh 180 lbs. Would this bat be good for a power hitter? Would the 33" length be good? bat
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 33" 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3). This bat features a balanced swing weight, typically preferred by contact hitters. Power hitters tend to prefer bats that feature an end loaded swing weight. This bat does feature a one-piece design, which power hitters prefer as well since it provides a stiffer feel.
Tessa
Which bat is better, the Rawlings VELO or the Easton MAKO? Are both of them balanced? What about pop speed off the bat? Sweet spot? Pittstate35
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) and the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR (BB14MK) are both balanced bats. They are both are very high performing and have a great pop and a similar sweet spot.
Kara
I am a lefty hitter with big time pop to all parts of the field. I am 6'2", 185 lbs. and I was wondering what bat is good for me? Either the 2014 Rawlings VELO or the 2013 TPX Omaha. I've been testing the TPX Omaha and I really like it but I do not have a friend who has the new VELO. What bat is better for a guy like me? Chris
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 34" bat. The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) is comparable to the TPX Omaha. They both feature a one-piece fully alloy design and will be hot right out of the wrapper-- no break in time needed. They are both balanced as well, which is typically preferred by contact hitters. Both will be great options.
Tessa L.
Will the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO go dead? Jackie Robinson
Yes, all alloy bats, including the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult bat will go dead over a long period of time.
Brandon
What is the difference between the 2014 VELO (white) and the 2013 VELO (black)? QTip124
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) and the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) both use the same high quality alloy materials. They are both very balanced and gave great pop.
Kara
I used to own the 2012 velo and i was wondering what the diffrence was between the two and how similar they are. Akrey3
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR (BBV3) Adult bat has a composite lite end cap which gives it a slightly lower swing weight than the 2012 model.
Damon
Im 6'0" 190lbs. Will this bat be a good fit for me? I can hit for power and contact. Jackie Robinson
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult is an excellent bat for contact hitters with power because of the one-piece balanced design. The balanced swing weight is great for a contact hitter and the one-piece alloy design provides for a stiffer feel and is great for power hitters.
Jason
From an honest opinion, is it worth the extra money than the 2013 model? adamk3
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR: BBV3 Adult bat and the 2013 model will be very similar, if not exactly the same. They will both feature Rawlings 5150 alloy material and have very light swing weights. They both will feature the Bi/fusion technology, pOp performance, and Comp/Lite composite end caps.
Tessa L.
I see with the RIP-IT bat there is a 400 day warranty. Is there a similar warranty with the VELO? My son likes both bats. Tom
This 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: (BBV3) Adult bat is backed by a full 12-month manufacturer's warranty against defects, but it does not feature a 30 Day "Love It or Return It" Program that the RIP-IT BBCOR models offer.
Mac
How does this compare to the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS in swing weight, barrel size, and pop? Danny
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) features a one-piece fully alloy design. Typically, power hitters tend to prefer a one-piece design because it allows for little flex. The DeMarini Vexxum features a two-piece design, which is preferred by contact hitters. The two-piece design allows for more flex in the bat. They both feature a balanced swing weight and a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Tessa L.
How long will the velo last before going dead? Will the 2014 last longer than the 2013? Josh
The lifespan of a bat generally depends on how often it is used/how well it has been taken care of. If the bat is taken care of well, even if it is used often, the lifespan could vary between a year and two years.
Merritt
Is the 5150 VELO a good bat for a power hitter? future55
Yes, the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 Adult bat would be great for contact or a power hitter. The balance and light weight swing feel is very comfortable.
Brandon
Which bat is better, the 2014 VELO or the 2014 TPX Raid? EvDawg
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3 Adult) will be a one-piece fully alloy design with a very light swing weight. The 2014 TPX Raid will be a two-piece bat. It will have a composite handle with an alloy barrel. The two-piece design will cut down on the hand sting felt and vibration. Also, two-piece bats can increase swing speeds by creating a whipping action. Both will have really comparable pop and performance.
Brandon
How does the sweet spot of this bat compare to the MAKO BBCOR and 2014 S1 BBCOR? njk
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) Adult has a good size sweet spot that is similar to the Easton S1. Neither of their sweet spots are quite as big as the MAKO's sweet spot though.
Jason
Trying to decide between the 5150 Velo and the RipIt Air. I prefer one piece bats. Which is better and why? AW
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR and 2014 RIP-IT Senior AIR will both incorporate the one-piece alloy design. The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR will have a composite end cap that will provide a a lighter, more balanced feel to it. The 2014 RIP-IT Senior AIR will use air technology that will give you faster bat speed, and provide more control. The biggest difference is going to be the different technologies that are used in the barrels in each of these bats. However, both of them are high quality, and will provide you with a lot of pop using the various alloy materials. Ultimately, it will come down to player preference as to which one is better performing.
Merritt

The major difference between the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3 Adult) and the 2014 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR will be the balance. The VELO will feel lighter and more balanced compared the the 5150 BBCOR. Both will have the same high performance due to using the same alloy material.
Brandon
How does it compare to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack? B Raww
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) is a one-piece alloy. The Louisville Slugger Attack is a two-piece composite bat. The VELO will be stiffer, and designed for a power hitter. The two-piece design of the Attack is better suited for a contact hitter. Both are very high performing.
Kara
What is better the Velo or the 2014 Voodoo Overlord? seanyt
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDC) is going to be better suited for a power hitter because of its end loaded feel. On the other hand the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO (BBV3) is designed more for a contact hitter due to its balanced swing weight.
Bobby
How do the 5150 VELO and S1 compare on performance for a contact/gap hitter with occasional track power? If close, does it make sense to play the S1 in warmer weather and the 5150 VELO in temps below 60? spartandad
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BBV3 and the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR: BB14S1 are both very high performing bats. We would recommend using the VELO in temperatures below 55 degrees.
Kara
Does the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR have a bigger sweet spot than the DeMarini Vexxum 2014 BBCOR? j-rod
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) and the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR ( DXVXC) have similar sweet spots.
Kara
Is this bat more balanced than the S1? I'm a going to be a freshman and want a really balanced bat, what about the CF6? What do think is the most balanced bat? G
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR(BBV3) is one of the most balanced bats. It is hard to say which model is MOST balanced, as many are very comparable. Some of the most balanced bats would be this VELO, the Easton S1, the DeMarini Vexxum and the RIP-IT BBCOR AIR. The CF6 is fairly balanced, but not near as much as the ones above.
Justin R.
Do you recommend this bat (velo), the 5150 custom alloy, or the Trio bbtrio for a speedy leadoff looking for hard contact but still a balance swing weight. I am 6'2 165. Thanks! asdfsfd J
These are all great balanced bats. The 2014 Rawlings Velo BBCOR (BBV3) and the 2014 Rawlings TRIO BBCOR (BBTRIO) will be the better balanced for the three.
Damon
Is it okay to use this bat in warm and cold weather? Also, does the VELO have a good sweet spot? milly
Generally, we do not recommend using bats in temperatures less than 55 degrees. The colder weather is not necessarily going to harm the bat, however, the balls will be denser. This increases the chance of the barrel becoming dented or defective. The weather should not be too much of a factor as long as you are aware that temperature increases or decreases can affect the ball. The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: (BBV3) will have a very good sweet spot. The 5150 alloy used will also generate a lot of momentum. This model will be very balanced, and is perfect if you are a power hitter.
Merritt
I am 6"0 145 lbs. and hit liners in the gaps and go for triples is the 2014 model a good bat for me? jared h
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO (BBV3) is a very good bat. It has a one-piece alloy design with a composite end cap to give you a quick swing through the strike zone. There are many colleges that use the Rawlings VELO for example the University of Virginia, University of South Carolina and North Carolina State University.
Zach
I'm 6' ,200 lbs. and I'm swinging a 33". Should I go up to a 34"? krk98
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 33" 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3).
Kara
I'm 6' tall and weigh 200lbs and im swinging a 33 inch bat. Should I go up to a 34 inch? krk98
That's difficult to say, and can depend on a number of factors such as your strength, how far you stand off the plate, whether you choke up or not, whether the bat you're swinging is a balanced swing weight or an end load, etc. I would recommend either a 33" or a 34" for someone roughly your size, but which one you end up going with depends more on personal preference.
Kyle J.
I'm 6'1" 225 lbs, and I'm a power hitter. I currently use a 33 inch bat. Should I move up to a 34 inch? I've got great bat speed and I'm strong enough to swing a bigger bat. mike
Based on your approximate height and weight the size that we would suggest would be 33/30. Ultimately, it will come down to what you are most comfortable with, but I think a 33 inch, 30 oz would fit you well.
Merritt
I'm 6'2" and 250 lbs. should I swing a 34" or 33"? Bigcountry
Based on your height and weight I would recommend a 34" length in the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO (BBV3).
Zach
How does this compare to the new Marucci Cat 6? Will A.
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) will feature a very light weight fully alloy design. Without seeing the new Cat 6 yet, I am expecting the Cat 6 to be a one-piece fully alloy bat. It should swing very light weight as well.
Brandon
I'm a 14 year old and I am 5'8 and 170 lbs. I I have the original marucci black but now umpires are telling me that it is illegal in my league. I play in a recreation center league. I like the feel of a two piece bat like the black, but I need a one piece bat to be able to use it in games. I want a bat that does not sting on the hands and has great pop. I am looking at this and the 2013 Easton XL3. What should I pick? Sean
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) would be the best choice for a contact hitter since it is a balanced bat. The Easton XL3 will be an end loaded model designed more for a power hitter and will swing a littler heavier than the Rawlings 5150 VELO. The best choice would really depend on which type of hitter you are.
Kelby
I am 6' tall and I weigh 165 lbs. How big of a bat do I need? peyton mercer
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 33" model in the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3).
Jason
My son is moving up from Senior League to a -3. He is 12 years old, 5'9" and 158lbs. Which size Velo would be best for a first -3? nichojr
We would recommend a 32" for the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) for a players with his height and weight.
John
I am 5 foot 7 and weigh 125 pounds. What size should I get? catfishhuntet
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest the 31 inch length of the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3).
Patrick
What VELO is better: the white or black? I am not sure which one to get. leo
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) and the 2013 black VELO are the same bat. The only difference between the two bats is the paint scheme and the grip tape.
Jason
Is there a difference between the 2013 and the 2014 model? How big is the sweet spot? daniel
There is a difference on the grip and the graphics between the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) and the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) but other than that they will be very similar. There is a long taper on the VELO so the sweet spot on the barrel will be pretty large. The actual size can vary with the size of the bat.
Patrick
does this bat compare to any easton S series or XL series alex08
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Velo BBCOR (BBV3) will be compareable to the Easton S3 (BB14S3).
Sean
I'm about 5'10 and weigh about 160 pounds, I've had success with both a 32in bat and a 33in, what length would you recommend for me with this bat. I'm asking because I've heard it feels lighter than most -3 bats. High school player
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) is going to be a balanced bat so it will have a faster swing speed but for someone your size I would recommend using a 33" 30 oz.
Cooper
I'm about 5'7" and weigh 150 lbs. Would a 32" or a 31" bat be better for me? fitz
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3).
Tessa
What bat do you recommend? I'm 5'10 120 a contact and gaps hitter. What bat do you recommend for me? Also I swing a -3 32 inch. Matt
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) would be a very good option for a contact hitter. It is a very balanced bat which is usually recommended for contact hitters.
Cooper
I'm about 6'6" and weigh 190 pounds. I currently use a 33' DeMarini Vexxuum. Should I switch to a VELO? Should I get a 33' or a 34'? RandyJohnson
Both the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the DeMarini Vexxum feature extremely balanced swing weights, which are great for working on bat speed and control. The main difference between the two is that the VELO will have a stiffer feel on contact, due to the one-piece design. The Vexxum is a two-piece, so it will allow for more flex on contact. Both are high performance models, however, the choice is ultimately up to you and if you prefer a one-piece or a two-piece bat. Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 34" bat.
Tessa
What are the differences between this bat, and the Rawlings VELO that has been discontinued? Also, what are the similarities between these bats? baseball15
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BBVELO) and 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BBV3) are extremely similar. Both models will incorporate a balanced, one-piece alloy design. Both models will feature the same technology and 5150 Alloy material. Ultimately, the biggest difference will be cosmetics.
Merritt
Because of the composite comp-lite end cap, does this bat need to be broken in? Jason
No, the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) does not need to be broken in. The only bats that require a break in period are the bats that are full composite.
Cooper
I am a solid contact hitter who sometimes hits for power. I don't know which bat to get between the Easton S1 and the Velo. baseball
Both the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14S1) are great options for your style of play. The main preference would come down to whether you want a one-piece or two-piece design and a composite or alloy barrel. The S1 is a two-piece fully composite model. The VELO is a one-piece alloy.
Patrick
What are the differences between the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR BBV3 and the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 3 BBCOR BB13EX for a 5'10" 145lb contact hitter? Is one bat more balanced than the other to maximize swing speed? Richard
Both bats are a one-piece full alloy bats but the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is going to be more balanced compared to the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 so the VELO will give you a faster swings speed.
Cooper
I'm a college freshman and wanted to know which bat would be better: the DeMarini Vexxum NVS or Voodoo Overlord? I usually hit the gaps but I can take it deep too. A two-piece bat would seem like the smart choice but wanted to know from an expert. Dj
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) would be a very light one-piece bat. Great pop for an alloy. A two-piece bat like the Voodoo Overlord will give you a longer more extended barrel design. Any of the three would be ideal for college freshman. The Vexxum NVS, and VELO would feel lighter and more balanced. The Voodoo Overlord would feel more barrel heavy.
Brandon
Is the VELO just like the 5150? ashton croll
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) features a slightly lower M.O.I than on the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) giving it a slightly lighter swing weight.
Patrick
How does the VELO compare the the Easton S500? I'm all power, but I love balance in my bats. What bat would better for me? Also, I'm about 6'1" 270 lbs. What size would be best for me? kidbaseball
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the Easton S500 will both feature a one-piece fully alloy design. They both will feel balanced in swing weight. The VELO will be the more popular option with better balance and reviews. A 33" 30 oz. would be a perfect size for you.
Brandon
Difference between this and the TRIO? bigboo
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) will feature a fully alloy design. The swing weight is very light and balanced. The 2014 Rawlings TRIO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBTRIO) will feature a three-piece hybrid design and be very balanced. Both have a great pop and are very durable.
Brandon
What is the return policy? What is MOI? nick
JustBats.com offers a 365 Day Return Policy, all unused items in their original condition may be returned for exchange or refund. There is no time frame on returning or exchanging items that are unused and in their original packaging. We do not accept returns of used bats. If you have a defective item, all warranties are handled through the manufacturer and your item may be forwarded to the manufacturer for replacement. Patrick
What is the main difference between he 2015 and the 2014 VELO BBCOR bat? nick
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the 2015 VELO are almost identical bats. The main difference between the two bats is the cosmetic design.
Jason
Is it okay to use the Velo BBCOR in the batting cages with a pitching machine? The dimpled balls do sometimes mar bats. JJA
We don't recommend hitting the dimpled balls because they can damage bats. Regular baseballs would be fine.
Damon
Is the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat : (BBV3) for power hitters? Bam bam
Absolutely. The balanced, one-piece, alloy design, makes the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BBV3) a perfect choice for power hitters.
Merritt
What is the difference between the 2014 VELO, the 2015 VELO, and the 2015 5150? SPG3
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the 2015 VELO are the same bat. The only major change they made was the cosmetic look. The 2015 5150 now features a Comp-Lite end cap like the VELO, and is much more balanced than in the past. Ultimately, the the VELO has a bigger barrel for a larger sweet spot and is overall still more balanced than the 5150.
Jason
Will the 32 inch 29 ounce price go down from $239.97? Brian
There is not currently a plan on lowering the price on the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3). Our pricing is based on many factors so we do not schedule price drops ahead of time. If you purchase the bat and the price goes down within 30 days of your purchase and you contact us to let us know we can refund the difference.
Patrick
I am looking for the Rawlings 2014 Velo balanced bat. The ones I have seen appear to be white in color. This one seems to be silver. Is this the same bat as the white one? Jim
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is the white version of the bat. The lighting in the product photo may make it look slightly different but it is the same bat.
Patrick
So what is the difference between this and the 5150? Why is it so much more expensive if the Velo has the 5150 alloy? How would this Velo compare to the Marucci Cat 6? Mitch
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) will compare similarly in terms of durability and performance but the VELO will have a better balanced design which will give it a lighter swing weight overall. This better balance would be due to the composite end cap and aerodynamic profile of the bat which is also the main difference between it and the standard 5150. The CAT 6 and 5150 would compare more closely.
Patrick
Hi, I am going into high school next year. I am a power hitter but I want a nice balanced BBCOR bat. Which are the best bats to switch to when going into BBCOR? noahnator
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) would be a great light weight and balanced option. It's perfect for new BBCOR users. Others you can look at will be these: S1, MAKO, CF6, CF7, Vexxum, Omaha, Prime 915, Cat 6, or the COMBAT Portent.
Brandon
My son prefers an end loaded bat. Which of the Rawlings bats would suit this? hause
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) will have a very balanced swing feel. Rawlings made the 2014 Rawlings TRIO End-Load BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBTRI3) last season and would feature his preferred swing weight.
Brandon
What is the difference between the VELO and the 2014 black 5150? cal
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) features a comp-Lite end cap for superior balance and is one of the lightest swinging BBCOR bats. It also has a slightly longer barrel for a bigger sweet spot. The 2014 5150 does not feature the Comp-Lite end cap and is not quite as balanced as the VELO.
Jason
How does this bat compare to the Marucci Cat 6 or the Marucci Cat 5^2. Then is the 6 much better than the 5^2 Jerry
The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BBV3) is very similar to the Marucci Cat Series. All three bats will be one-piece high-grade alloy as well as feature balanced swing weights. The Cat 5 does differ from the other two in that it features an anti-vibration know. In regards to performance and durability, all three bats will be very similar.
Joe
I am 6'1" and weigh 200 lbs. I am thinking about moving up to a 34" from a 33". Am I big enough to swing the 34? cagebomber5950
Based on your height and weight, our Bat Coach still recommends a 33" 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3). Sizing is preferential though, so if you would feel comfortable jumping to a 34" model, that is something to take into consideration. Generally, you want to swing the longest and heaviest bat that you can comfortably and consistently control.
Tessa
MY son is in 8th grade but will be playing jv baseball. At tehmiddle school level players can use a drop 5 but at the high school level he will have to use a drop 3. Currently he has a velo drop 5 33/28. Would you recommend him getting the velo drop 3 in a 33/30 Easton
I would definitely recommend going with the drop -3 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3). Since he will be needing to use a drop -3 next year in high school it would be a good time to get him used to the extra weight.
Jake
What is the difference between the 2014 Velo, the 2015 5150, and 2014 5150? Which one would be better for a hitter with quick hands? bbb

The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the 2015 VELO are the exact same bat. The only difference is the cosmetic appearance.
Jason
Will this or the RIP-IT Prototype have more pop, and which one is more balanced? biggie
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) will feature an extremely well balanced swing weight. The RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Baseball Bat (B1403) features a slightly end-loaded swing weight. "Pop" is not actually a technically correct term. Both bats fall under the BBCOR certification which limits the overall performance of the bats. Both bats will feature a one-piece full alloy design. They will both be hot out of the wrapper. In terms of performance they will be very similar.
Joe
Is there a break-in period recommended by Rawlings for this bat? Coach G
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is a one-piece alloy bat that is hot right out of the wrapper. Rawlings does not recommend any break-in period for this bat.
Jason
When will there be a 33-30 in this bat? Naks
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) bat has been discontinued for the 2015 edition. Unfortunately, we will not be receiving anymore 33" back in stock.

Joe
Is there a difference between the 2014 VELO and the new 2015 5150? joeey
The new 2015 5150 is closer in design to VELO than years passed because of the Comp-Lite end cap, but there are still some differences. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) will feature a longer barrel, a longer taper, and have a slightly thicker handle. These factors provide the VELO with a bigger sweet spot and overall more balanced design.
Jason
I'm 5'7" and 130 lbs. What size do I need? spenc
For a player of your size, our bat coach would recommend the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) in a 32" 29 oz. model.
Joe
I'm a freshman about 5'6" and 180 lbs. Would you recommend this VELO or the DeMarini CF6? I am a contact hitter with power. Jose
For your size we would recommend a 32" bat. Both of these bats are great options. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is a balanced one piece alloy while the DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCFC) is a balanced two piece composite. It comes down to whether you prefer alloy or composite.
Allison
I am a freshman who is about 5 foot 6 and 180 pounds. Would you recommend this Velo or the DeMarini CF6? I am a contact hitter with power. Jose
Both the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCFC) would be nice options for your style of play. The difference would come down to whether you would prefer a bat with a stiff feel or more flex. The Velo will have a stiffer feel for more control while the CF6 would flex more which can whip the bat forward for more bat speed.
Patrick
I am 6 foot and 180 pounds, what size would you recommend? baseball

Liz
I am a lead off batter for the variety team for my school. Would you recommend the Velo 2014 model or the Exogrid 3? I dont want a top sided bat. A 32 inch 29 ounce model is what I want as size and weight. Austin Payne
Either the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) or the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EX) could work for your style of hitting but the VELO would be a bit better balanced which could help you achieve better bat speed.
Patrick
Is this bat stamped 1.15? kate
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) does not have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. This bat has a BBCOR certification stamp.
Frankie

Tessa
What's the difference between the BBRVB and the BBV3? tanner
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is manufactured from a VELO alloy that has better performance and an extended barrel with a large sweet spot. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is manufactured from the 5150 alloy and has a slightly smaller sweet spot and barrel.
Joe
I am 5'10' 165 lbs can hit with power is a 5150 BBCor better for me then a Demarini Composite BBCor nick
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the Demarini Composite BBCOR models (not sure which DeMarini you are wanting to compare) are both great bats/manufactures. The VELO will be a one-piece alloy bat meaning it will be hotter right out of the box and stiffer while the DeMarini models will be a two-piece composite design, have some flex to it and will need a break-in period. Both bats are used by power hitters so it really comes down to personal preference.
Cameron
What is the difference between the black/white and the just black Rawlings VELO 2015? baseball13
The main differences between the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBV3 and the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB are the paint scheme and the bi/fusion technology that was used in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBV3. The alloy, end cap, extended barrel length and swing weight are the same for both models.

Should I get this VELO or the new 2016 VELO? DingerMan
If you are looking to get the better value, I would recommend getting this Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) over the new 2016 VELO. This bat gets great reviews and it can be purchased at a slight discount compared to the new 2016 version.

What would this VELO or the 2016 Voodoo be a better choice for a bat? RyanBasebal
The answer to your question is going to depend upon what you're looking for. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBV3 is a one-piece aluminum design that features a balanced swing weight while the 2016 Voodoo RAW is a two-piece hybrid design that features an end loaded swing weight.

Would you recommend this bat or the Louisville Slugger Omaha? Which is higher performing and which is more balanced? B.mills
This Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is an excellent bat. The Omaha 516 is also a solid model as well. In regard to performance, both bats are going to have excellent reviews (this VELO will have a higher number of reviews overall). But if I were to give a nod to one of the bats as being more balanced, I would give the nod to this VELO. Because the VELO will be slightly more balanced, I would recommend this VELO for you (it seems you want the most balanced bat).

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
