Ask A QuestionMy son is 11 and has been swinging a Rawlings 5150 30/20 in travel ball. In your opinion, is this new Rawlings a good step up for him in the same size? How does this bat compare to the VELO and Marucci Elite?
The 2014 Rawlings Mach: SLMC10 Senior League is a good step up, as it will have a similar balance to the Rawlings 5150, but will be a two-piece composite. Both the VELO and Marucci Elite will be even more balanced. The VELO is a one-piece alloy (like the 5150), and the Marucci Elite is a two-piece hybrid design, with an alloy barrel and composite handle.
My son uses the Easton XL1 Youth in his rec league and he needs to get a big barrel for All Stars this summer. He swings the 31" 21 oz. and handles it very well. What would you recommend for his big barrel that would give him a similar swing balance, pop and sweet spot?
Since your son uses the Easton XL1 Youth and performs well with it. He should stick with the XL1 series and get the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X18 Senior League it has a barrel diameter of 2 5/8".
Product Description
New for 2014! Hit like a Machine this season with the hottest bat in the Rawlings lineup! The Mach is a two-piece fully composite design that utilizes Rawlings' new Max CFD Technology that maximizes the carbon fiber density of the bat. By adding more fibers and less resin, a stronger bat is born that exceeds the competition in fiber content. This creates a bat that will perform better and last longer. Also new to the Mach this season is Barrel Flex Technology. For those that are unaware, barrel flex and trampoline are essentially the same - the more flex a barrel has, the greater the performance. In fact, the Rawlings Mach has 55% more barrel flex than the closest competitor! While field testing the Mach, over 90% of the players that swung it chose it over all other bats in head to head competition! The handle of the Mach is also Flex Tuned to give it increased flex from the previous model. The new Rawlings Mach is proudly made in the U.S.A., and is the product of the finest materials and countless hours of R&D. Rawlings: The Mark of a Pro! The SLMC10 features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!
