Description

Made in the U.S.A., this new Worth Mayhem will undoubtedly wreak havoc on slow pitch fields across the country this season! The ASA and USSSA approved Mayhem features a classic one-piece composite design with a stiff handle for maximum power. Inside, a multi-layer composite core helps to provide exceptional rebound and maximum durability. The Mayhem features technologically advanced manufacturing processes to ensure that it's one of top bats on the field. The bat must go through Worth's Rapid Air Vacuum (RAV) process where a pressurized mold holds the composite layers in place. Following that is the Epoxy Induction Process (EIP) which introduces a 2-part epoxy that is pulled through the woven layers. These processes create one of the strongest, most solid and highest performing bats available. The Mayhem features balanced loading for one of the most true-to-weight feels on the market. This balance also gives players maximum control and consistency. Worth: 100 Years of Performance Through Technology! The Mayhem is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Line drive base hit machine theswaz player

Pros: Preface, this is my first composite bat that I have owned. The balanced feel has always been my preference, and this fits that mold. The bat eats up line drives and the gaps all game long. Easy to swing, very forgiving on miss hits.

Cons: The break in period. I did the research knowing these composite bats need to be broken in. However, it took a good 300 hits in BP, before this thing opened up for me(the sand sound in the barrel). I have hit a few shots out, but this bat's pop seems a bit limited overall. I took the Mayhem, my old Demarini F2 and old Worth Gold EST to a field and hit the same set of balls off a tee. The distance was about 10 to 15 feet further than my trusty Gold EST and nominal 2 to 5 feet better than the Demarini F2. While not a scientific test, I did see some better results than my older bats that I have relied on for years. It just isn't a homerun machine though.

Not A Home Run Hitter Neil Fountaine player

Pros: I feel more comfortable with this bat being it is my 1st composite bat. I have either used wood or aluminum. I am NOT a home run hitter. This bat makes me fell better, thus hitting better. 3rd game out, I am consistent about getting on base. I do swing less harder and hit in between infield and outfield. As the season goes on I am going to try hitting harder and see what this bat can do for me.

Cons: None yet!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SBMUA? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Looking at the 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk bat and the 2014 Miken Ultra 750X Maxload. Which would be a better bat? I am not a power hitter at all. Hntrfox84
The 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA: SBMUA Slow Pitch has a balanced swing weight which is typically preferred by contact hitter looking for increased swing speeds. The Ultra 750X has a 0.5 oz. end load which is meant more for barrel control through the hitting zone and would likely work well for you also; but it may not be the optimal choice. Both bats have the new ASA performance certification mark and are one-piece composites, so you will see pretty similar results.
Mac
Will this bat be manufactured in a 26oz? Shey
Yes, the 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA model is produced in a 26 oz. As of 8/7/2013 we are currently out of stock on the 26oz. Once wwe receive them back in stock they will be listed on the site.
John
Other than being able to be used in ASA and USSSA, what's the difference between this and the USSSA Mayhem (green one)? Chase
Worth made no changes to materials between this 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA: SBMUA Slow Pitch and the 2013 BJ Fulk Mayhem. Aside from expanding the performance certifications, and color scheme, it is the same bat.
Mac
Is there a thumb print on it? Or the ISF stamp? Craig
The 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA: SBMUA Slow Pitch bat does feature the new USSSA BPF 1.20 "thumb print" stamp. It is approved for ISF play, but does not carry the ISF stamp.
Mac
How long is the barrel? Does the USSSA/ASA rating make this bat hotter than a 454 Sick Jeff Hall bat that is ASA only? El Oso
The 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA: SBMUA Slow Pitch bat and the 2014 Worth Sick 454 Jeff Hall Reload ASA: SBSKJA should perform very similarly. Although the Jeff Hall will have a slight end load to the swing weight while the BJ Fulk will be more balanced for quicker bat speed. The 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk will have a normal barrel length.
Brandon
Can this bat be used in temperatures below 65 F? Mary13
We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA: SBMUA Slow Pitch, in temperatures below 60°F (16°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.
Mac
Will this bat be suitable to hit the old ASA balls? jr42
The 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA: SBMUA Slow Pitch can be used with the older ASA balls since it is ASA and USSSA approved. Bats that are only ASA approved should not be used with the harder, older ASA balls.
Kara
I was always under the impression something that is a USSSA bat can not be used in ASA, so how is this so with this bat? barefoot bandit
The reason the 2014 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk Balanced ASA/USSSA (SBMUA) Slow Pitch bat is approved for both leagues is that it has been tested and certified for both organizations. Unless a bat features the particular organization's performance stamp, you likely can't use it in that league. This bat features both an ASA and USSSA stamp, so it is one of the few bats on the market that can be used for both leagues: http://goo.gl/giB9Of

About the Brand

Worth, Inc. can trace its beginning back to the year 1912, when George Sharp Lannom, Jr. purchased a tannery in Tullahoma, Tennessee and established the Lannom Manufacturing Company. Initially, the firm tanned leather for harnesses and horse collars they manufactured. However, as the automobile grew in popularity, the demand for the company's harnesses and collars declined, so Lannom shifted its manufacturing resources toward production of leather covered baseballs and softballs under the "Worth" brand, and men's leather dress gloves under the "Craig" brand.

Charles (Chuck) E. Parish joined Lannom in 1930 as a salesman and married G.S. Lannom, Jr.'s daughter, Martha Lannom several years later. Following Mr. Lannom's death, Parish acquired controlling interest in the company, which led to a division of company assets between himself and Lannom's son G.S. Lannom III. Lannom maintained the glove works while Parish, "The Baron of Baseballs," built the Lannom baseball business into the world's largest manufacturer of baseballs.

Upon graduation from Vanderbilt University in 1959, Chuck Parish's son, John, joined the Lannom organization. He persuaded his father to expand the company's Caribbean operations and enter the baseball bat business in 1970. In 1975, following the death of his father, John Parish took over the reigns of the company. Under his leadership, the company diversified and expanded its production line and developed the personnel, technical know-how, and physical facilities to become one of the largest and most financially sound manufacturers in the entire sporting goods industry.

The WorthSports Company was formally organized in 1975 as the sales and marketing arm for all sporting goods products and divisions of Lannom. In addition to the normal marketing functions, Worth also emphasizes and provides new product research and development. In fact, the emphasis placed on this development is largely responsible for Worth's leadership role in the sporting goods industry.

When Worth entered the bat business all bats were made from Northern White Ash. Worth then established wood mills in Pennsylvania and New York to provide the strong but relatively lightweight ash wood stock. Then directions were shifted to aluminum and other composites and in 1968 Lannom Manufacturing produced its first aluminum bat. The company's Jess Heald was primarily responsible for its development. The sale of aluminum bats to amateur baseball and softball players mushroomed in the 70's, helping Lannom achieve record results. In 1994, because of market demands, more emphasis was placed on the aluminum division and an expansion was completed in Tullahoma.

One of the first and most significant results of the R&D program was the development of the Polyurethane (Poly-X™) core for baseballs and softballs. This one innovation revolutionized the entire softball world; up to this time, the traditional softball core was constructed of cork and latex. Worth, through the use of "petrochemical" formulation, created a softball that was more consistent in performance and demonstrated extended durability, thereby setting the stage for the establishment of formal specifications and standards for the industry. More recently, the expanded research and development team has made another revolutionary addition to the aluminum bats called the SuperCell EST (Exterior Shell Technology) Bat.

One product Worth is very proud of is its RIF (Reduced Injury Factor) baseballs and softballs. Introduced in baseballs in the late '80's, the RIF design features a polyurethane center that makes the ball softer than the traditional yarn wound ball, while keeping the weight, size and liveliness. The balls are used mainly in youth leagues, where safety is of major concern. The technology is now being used in Worth softballs as well. New technology is constantly being developed to revolutionize the softball industry as we know it today.

In 2007, Worth was acquired by Jarden Corporation and is now a division of Rawlings and Jarden Team Sports.
