2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat: YB15S1 review by Anonymous
Pros: great balance, no sting or vibration on any hit, Great pop on sweet spot Cons:the bat is great, but the sweet spot is so much better than a mis-hit (as is with any bat) but this one the fall off seem to be more noticeable- however the bat is new and hasn't been fully broken in yet- the price is a bit much. Would highly recommend none the less for 7-9 year old lookng for deeper hits to the outfield.

2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat: YB15S1 review by SJ Titan
Pros: My son is 8 yrs old and 50lbs. We tried the 28" Mako -11 and it was too heavy for him to swing. Started to use the Demarini Voodoo Overlord 28' -13 which was a great bat until we started to use the S1. At first I was not impressed with the bat and thought i made a bad decision but after a week of hitting the bat seemed more solid and the balls were jumping off the Bat.. We purchased the 28" -12 which is a great size for him.. Still can't wait to see what it does outside the batting cages.. Cons:No custom colors available..

Do I have to break-in this bat?

Yes, the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) will take 200-300 swings before it's fully broken in. Soft toss and tee work will work fine for the process.

My son is 9 years old and he is 51 inches tall and weighs 64 pounds. He has a quick bat and he has been swinging the 29 inch 16 ounce Voodoo Overlord hybrid. I think it may be a little light for him and it is his friend's bat. I'm buying him a new bat and I am stuck between the Easton S1, S2, and the Mako drop 11. Do you have any suggestions on which one would be best for him?

The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) would be the same length to weight ratio as the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL). A 29 inch bat would be the length that we would recommend for his height and weight so the S2 would have a very similar feel to the model you feel is too light. Either the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) or the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be slightly heavier options that both could work. The MAKO would be an ounce heavier and be more of an adjustment but does offer a bit longer barrel which provides a bigger sweet spot. You may get more bat speed with the S1 but you would get more sweet spot with the MAKO. Which one would be better would be based on which design feature you would prefer.
