When it hits the sweet spot you know Anonymous parent

Pros: great balance, no sting or vibration on any hit, Great pop on sweet spot

Cons: the bat is great, but the sweet spot is so much better than a mis-hit (as is with any bat) but this one the fall off seem to be more noticeable- however the bat is new and hasn't been fully broken in yet- the price is a bit much. Would highly recommend none the less for 7-9 year old lookng for deeper hits to the outfield.

Perfect Bat for a smaller player SJ Titan parent

Pros: My son is 8 yrs old and 50lbs. We tried the 28" Mako -11 and it was too heavy for him to swing. Started to use the Demarini Voodoo Overlord 28' -13 which was a great bat until we started to use the S1. At first I was not impressed with the bat and thought i made a bad decision but after a week of hitting the bat seemed more solid and the balls were jumping off the Bat.. We purchased the 28" -12 which is a great size for him.. Still can't wait to see what it does outside the batting cages..

Cons: No custom colors available..

Great Pop - Break is required for max results MG coach

Pros: Great Sweet spot, no sting on hits, tremendous balance when swinging. Perfect performance bat for 6-9year old coach pitch and intro in to kid pitch.

Cons: Price - Break in period ( but necessary in all composite bats for best results - hitting leather covered hard balls into a net off a tee is great to start @200 hits rotating after each hit - then @ 200 hits in a cage using leather covered hard ball will do the trick - do not roll this bat

Good Bat Edward Vertullo parent

Pros: Great pop, no vibration

Cons: My son has cracked three of these bats in a little over 10 months. The bats are expensive and we haven't managed to get through half of a season without needing to replace the bat.

SWEET bat! Drew parent

Pros: Serious pop. My 7 year old hit the ball twice as far with this bat as he did with his old LS alloy 27-13 bat. I have hit it off the tee myself and even before it's broken in, the feel is unreal. Seems like the ball will go a mile. No vibration and my kid loves it.

Cons: Got it for $140, brand new, in eBay. Even that is pricey for a 7 year old's bat. But he will probably use it for at least a full year and his brother will use it after him. If his brother wasn't going to use it, I'm sure I could sell it for $100 on ebay or craigslist, so cost isn't THAT big of a deal. Plus, if your kid is into baseball and uses it for 30+ games a year and all the practices, it's well worth it.

Merritt

No, we do not carry the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a 15 oz. size.
Brandon
I am always concerned when I look at the approved bat list for the next year in November. Is the Easton S1 Composite Youth bat (YB15S1) approved for the Majors and under 2015 Little League season? s-wiese
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is approved for that level of play and meets all Little League standards for performance.
Patrick
Is there any difference between last year's model and this year's model, besides the awesome color scheme? Simon
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) will be designed exactly the same as the previous model year. The biggest change will be the new color scheme.
Brandon
What is the difference between this S1 bat and the 2015 Mako? fahj
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be similar to one another in that they are both two-piece composite bats but they will have differences. The S1 is a lighter drop weight at -12 while the MAKO is a -11. The MAKO has a more extended barrel size and a TCT composite featured in the barrel that is a slight upgrade from the IMX in the S1. Both are great models.
Patrick
Any significant differences between 2014 and 2015 S1's? Chris
Easton had a lot of great feedback on last years models, so the only differences in the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) and the 2014 model are cosmetic.
Tessa
What is the difference between Easton S1 and Louisville 915? Brett
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Youth Baseball Bat (YBP9152) are very similar bats. The main difference is the Louisville Slugger has a three piece design as compared to the S1, which is a two piece.
Tom
How long does it take this bat to break in and reach its potential? chuck
For all of our composite bats, we recommend a break-in period of 100-120 swings off of a tee or soft-toss. The bat should be rotated a quarter of an inch every twenty swings.
Joe
My son just turned 12 and is 5'1 and weights 84 lbs, what size would you recommend for him? JW
Based on your son's age, height, and weight, I would suggest the30" 18 oz. 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1).
Liz
My son just turned 10 and is 5'2", and 140lbs. What size and weight bat would you recommend? ANT
For a player of his size, our bat coach recommends the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a 31" 19 oz. model.
Joe
My son is turning 9 in January and is 65 pounds. He has used a 28" 16oz. S600 for the last year. What is an upgraded bat that would be good for him as a AA all star? John
For a player of his size and age, our bat coach is recommending the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a 30" 18 oz. model. The YB15S1 will feature a two-piece full composite design. It will require a break-in period, however in terms of performance, the Easton S1 is definitely an upgrade.
Joe
My son is 50 1/2 inches tall and weighs 55 pounds. How do you feel about the 28 inch 26 ounce size? Colin
Based on height and weight, the 28 inch 16 ounce size of the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) should be a good fit.
Patrick
My son is 10 years old, 4'5" tall, and weighs 67 pounds. What size would you recommend for him? Momba
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 29" 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1). For more information on sizing, you can check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Tessa
Is it ok to have the 2015 Easton YB15S1 rolled? baseball mom
While it isn't illegal to roll your 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) we typically do not recommend rolling. It tends to reduce the life of your composite bat. If you need advice on a proper way to break-in the bat follow this link: http://www.justbats.com/blog/index.php/3789/breaking-in-your-composite-baseball-bat/.
Jake
My 10 and a 1/2 year old son is 5 foot and 83 pounds. Would you recommend the 30 inch or 31 inch in this bat? Weber
Based on his height and weight we would recommend getting the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a 30 inch.
Frankie
I am trying to decide between the 2015 Easton S1, -12, Combat Wanted, -12, and the Easton Mako, -11 for my son. He is 8, weighs 55 lbs, and is 4'6". Are there any advantages for each one and what is the recommended size for him? Scott
For his size we would recommend a 29" bat. Each of these bats are great options and they all have their advantages. The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is a balanced bat in the speed series which means a quick swing speed. The COMBAT Wanted Youth Baseball Bat (WANYB112) is hot out of the wrapper, therefore, it doesn't require any break in time. Last but not least, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is balanced like the S1, but has an extended barrel like the XL series. Again, they are all great options, it just comes down to what you prefer.
Allison
I am thinking about a 28" for my 9 year old son. What do you think of this bat compared to the Louisville Slugger Prime 915? How do the sweet spots compare? Ken
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Youth Baseball Bat (YBP9152) are going to be very similar bats. The Prime 915 may have a slightly larger sweet spot, but the Easton S1 will have a better balanced feel. Both would be good options.
Jake
What performance differences are there between the S1 and Vexxum NVS? Joker
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is a two-piece full composite design while the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Youth (DXVXL) is a hybrid design. Generally you will see better performance from composite barrel bats. Composite models will require a break-in period of around 150 swings off the tee or soft toss to see the best performance. Make sure you rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to fully break-in the composite fibers throughout the bat. Alloy barrel bats like the DeMarini Vexxum will be game ready right out of the wrapper.
John
My son is 7 and weighs 40 lbs and is 45 inches tall. He plays machine pitch. I am thinking of getting either the Easton S1 composite youth bat (YB15S1) or the Louisville Prime 915 youth composite (YBP9152). Is there an advantage to one over the other or what would you recommend? Matt
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) features a two-piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Youth Baseball Bat (YBP9152) features a three-piece full composite design that for all practical purposes performs as a two-piece model. Both bats do offer a similar balanced swing weight and will have similar performance. The Prime does offer a 30 day trial period, so I would recommend that particular model because if you did not like it, you would be able to exchange for the S1.
Joe
Besides the 1 oz. weight differential, what's the difference between the S1 and S2? Toreros
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is a two piece fully composite bat with Easton's IMX Advanced Composite Barrel and the SIC Black Carbon Composite Handle. The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) is a two piece hybrid bat, so it has the Hyperlite Matrix Alloy Barrel and the SIC Black Carbon Composite Handle. Both bats feature a balanced swing weight.
Tom
I am looking to buy an Easton XL1 for my son in a 30 inch 20 ounce but it is not available. What bat do you recommend instead? Shane
If you are looking for an end loaded bat for a power hitter (like the Easton XL1) I would recommend looking at the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD. The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is going to be more of a balanced bat designed for contact hitters.
Frankie
What size do you recommend for my 11 year old who is 4'11" and 108 lbs? He is a contact hitter. Also, would you recommend the S1 or S2? Rob
For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a 30" 18 oz. model. The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) features a similar two piece design with a balanced swing weight to the S1. The differences are that the S1 is a full composite model with a drop 12 length to weight ratio, while the S2 is a two piece hybrid model with drop 13 length to weight ratio. Depending on the league you are in, the S2 might not be legal for play with the drop weight.
Joe
My son is 9 years old, 4 foot and 56 pounds, would the Easton S1 be a good choice for him? If so, what size do you recommend? He has the Easton Mako now, and struggles with it. SSA
The Easton Mako is suppose to be a balanced bat, it does have an extended barrel that may cause a slight end loaded feel. The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is going to be a completely balanced bat and it will not have an extended barrel. Based on his age, height and weight I would recommend getting a 27 inch bat.
Frankie
My son is 6 year old, 4'7", 100 lbs and can crush a baseball. He is currently hitting with a Voodoo Overlord 29/16, but it seems the bat has lost some "POP". Would a S1 be a better choice for him? Ottoman
The 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) would be a great option for him. The Easton S1 features a two-piece full composite design. The S1 will require a break-in period unlike the DeMarini Voodoo Overlord model. We recommend taking around 150 swings off the tee or soft toss. Make sure you rotate the barrel about a quarter of an inch every 10-15 swings. Once broken-in then you should see the ball really jump off the bat.
John
My son is 9 years old and he is 51 inches tall and weighs 64 pounds. He has a quick bat and he has been swinging the 29 inch 16 ounce Voodoo Overlord hybrid. I think it may be a little light for him and it is his friend's bat. I'm buying him a new bat and I am stuck between the Easton S1, S2, and the Mako drop 11. Do you have any suggestions on which one would be best for him? Ethan
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) would be the same length to weight ratio as the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL). A 29 inch bat would be the length that we would recommend for his height and weight so the S2 would have a very similar feel to the model you feel is too light. Either the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) or the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be slightly heavier options that both could work. The MAKO would be an ounce heavier and be more of an adjustment but does offer a bit longer barrel which provides a bigger sweet spot. You may get more bat speed with the S1 but you would get more sweet spot with the MAKO. Which one would be better would be based on which design feature you would prefer.
Patrick
Do I have to break-in this bat? Tpatt31
Yes, the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) will take 200-300 swings before it's fully broken in. Soft toss and tee work will work fine for the process.
Brandon
Does this bat meet the BBCOR performance standard? Is it approved for little league intermediate (50/70) play? Tom
2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) will not be eligable for Little League Intermediate play and is not BBCOR certified.
Frankie
I am 12 years old, I am 5 foot and 86 pounds, what size and weight do you recommend? christian

Frankie
