What are the differences between the Easton S1 and S3 besides the barrel material? What is the normal break in period for a composite bat? Once broken in will it have more pop than an alloy?

The obvious difference between the 2015 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15S110) and the 2015 Easton S3 is going to be the barrel material, composite vs. alloy. The S1 is going to have the most balanced feel between the two. To properly break in your composite bat, we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings. It’s also important to rotate the bat ¼” after each swing to ensure that you get complete barrel coverage. Never break in your bat in a cage that uses yellow dimpled balls. Yellow dimpled balls are very dense and can damage your bat and decrease its lifespan.

My son has a S3 29 inch, -10, with a 2 5/8 barrel, he wants to move up to a 30 inch. My question is, is the S1 a good move?

The 2015 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15S110) has the same design as the S3, the only difference is the S1 will be fully composite and will have a break in period, while the S3 is one piece alloy and will be ready to go as soon as you get it.
