2015 Easton XL1 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat: SL15X15 review by M.C.
Pros: This bat is amazing for power hitters. This is not your typical drop 5 bat. My son claims this is heavier to swing that a balanced BBCOR he has. However, if you can swing this bat, it is amazing with excellent pop (given the mass you are swinging) right out of the wrapper. In our practices, he is hitting the ball farther than with his other drop 5. Cons:This is not a true drop 5, it is more like a drop 3. Also, the bat scratches easily. Finally, you need to practice a lot with this bat to get used to. This bat is not for everyone.

I'm 13 years old, and 110 lbs. I am swinging an XL1 30/25 and handle it very well. I was thinking of moving up to a 31/26 MAKO TORQ. What would you recommend?

The 2015 Easton XL1 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat (SL15X15) would be a great choice. If you are thinking of a new 2015 MAKO TORQ it is also very high performing. It will feel lighter and more balanced compared to the end loaded feel of the XL1. Since you are used to the XL1's swing feel, you should have no issues moving up to a 31/26 in the MAKO TORQ.

I'm 13 years old, 5'8" and 135 pounds. What size and drop weight of the XL1 should I use?

For a player of your age and size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton XL1 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat (SL15X15) in a 32" model. Additionally, we would also recommend using the 2015 Easton XL1 Senior League -8 Baseball Bat (SL15X18) over the SL15X15 because it is a fairly difficult transition from a balanced model like the S1 to an end loaded version such as the XL1.

What are the main differences between the 2015 Easton XL1 and XL3 drop 5 bats?

The difference between the 2015 Easton XL1 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat (SL15X15) and the 2015 Easton XL3 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat (SL15X35) is the construction of the bat. The XL1 is a two-piece fully composite design while the XL3 is a single-piece alloy model.
