Description

Put some more spring in your swing this season with the new Louisville Slugger LXT! Re-engineered from the breakthrough Xeno bat, the LXT is designed to provide more pop and an even better feel when you swing! It is truly the ultimate combination of speed, power, and balance in fastpitch. The LXT features a revolutionary three-piece design within the taper that is called TRU-3 Technology. This revolutionary new transition technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle to give the LXT a trampoline spring and dramatically reduced vibration on contact. This straighter, thicker rubber ring results in a bat that is not only sturdier, but feels better with every swing. Vibration from mishits are absorbed before they reach the player's hands, allowing players to be more consistent with their hitting. Like the Xeno, the LXT features S1iD Technology for a flexible, more forgiving barrel, a larger sweet spot, and a cleaner sounding pop with every hit. Made from Louisville Slugger's thinner, high-strength, and lightweight composite, the LXT is ready to take the fastpitch softball world by storm! Louisville Slugger: Leave Your Mark! The LXT is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

2015 Lousville Slugger LXT FRA3x parent

Pros: Awesome bat, DD has lead her team again in offence with 2 homeruns 4 triples and 4 doubles and countless singles and were only halfway through our HS season!!!, she loves the POP and feel of her 33/23 and currently has the 15' Xeno which is a good bat but DD favors the LXT hands down, dont hesitate here its a killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: none, very durable, just watch colder days, use your second bat for under 60 degrees.

Does not live up to Louisville Standard Rich parent

Pros: Liked it right upon receiving - good pop

Cons: My daughter's bat developed a strange noise when she hit with it and lost it's pop off the bat. Sounds like a baby's rattle when it's tapped. Dealing with Louisville to have it replaced but not happy with it. When it was new the ball popped right off and it sounded clean but this is annoying.

Simply the best... LStheBest parent

Pros: Simply the best fastpitch softball bat on the market. I bought the 2015 XENO last fall. My daughter liked it so much and needed a heavier bat, so I sought a LXT -10. This is the best bat my daughter has owned. We have hit the DeMarini, but this is the best of the best. I am not going to make ridiculous claims like...."my daughter hit a homerun at her second at bat..." my daughter did not do that..but what she did do over the course of the USSSA 10U State Tournament was go 12 for 20 with 2 Triples, 2 Doubles and 10 RBI's. This bat has great pop even toward the handle. If you are interested in spending $300 on a bat, this is the one. Do not go with the 2016 at $50 more, but go with this one and just hit it. Your daughter's confidence will go through the roof. Early in the Spring my daughter cracked her XENO. Guess what?? LS sent her another one no questions asked. I gave it to another player in our team and her hitting has improved because she has confidence.

Cons: It is expensive, but my daughter needs every advantage. This bat gives her exactly that...she will not be the most talented, but she will have the best equipment that I can afford. This bat gives you the best, but at a price.

Breaks easily Kathy Reichardt parent

Pros: Bat works well for a few months.

Cons: Three girls on my daughters team bought this bat and all three broke within 4 months. Louisville has already said they won't replace our bat. Not sure about the other 2 yet. They obviously don't stand behind their products or warranties. All three bats broke during tournament play on the field. Avoid this bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX150? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

When exactly is this bat going to be available for purchase? Lauren
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT (FPLX150 Fastpitch) should be available on 7/1/2014.
Brandon
How is this compared to the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO (FPXN150)? Is it end loaded or balanced? Tee
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT (FPLX150) Fastpitch features a revolutionary three-piece design within the taper that is called TRU-3 Technology. This revolutionary new transition technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle to give the LXT a trampoline spring and dramatically reduced vibration on contact. The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO (FPXN150) does not have this technology.
Damon
Is there any difference between the 2014 LXT and 2015 LXT? Softball Dad
Louisville Slugger has improved the composite blend between the 2014 and 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150). The new Performance Composite is lighter and more durable than the Pure 360 Composite in the 2014 model.
Mac
Is the LXT end loaded? softball9
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) is a balanced, two-piece fully composite design.
Mac
Do you recommend going to the batting cages with this bat? jflo
Using the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) in a batting cage situation should be fine as long as actual softballs are used. If you use the yellow dimpled cage balls that some facilities have, damage can occur to any bat.
Patrick
My daughter is 12 years old, is 5" and weighs 105 pounds. What size bat would you recommend in length and ounces? softballmom17
Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 31" 21 oz. 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150). For more information on sizing, check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tessa
Does the 2015 LXT have 3 pieces like the 2014 LXT? softballmom17
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) features Louisville Slugger's TRU3-3-Piece Bat Construction.
John H
When will the 2016 LXT bat be released and ready to buy? softball03
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) was just released in June, so nothing is official at this time. You can probably expect a release date of June 2015 for the 2016 LXT.
Jason
My 14 year old daughter is 5' 1", 130 lbs, with a wide back. She's a power hitter. Is there a bat you would recommend? Would the Louisville LXT Balanced be a good fit? She has the DeMarini CF4 and is in dire need of a new bat! Your reply is most appreciated. Thank you! Anna
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) would be a great choice! The balanced feel and high performing composite material are awesome. Also, if your daughter still loves DeMarini bats, the new 2015 CF7 Fastpitch model would be a great choice also.
Brandon
My daughter is 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds. She is a slapper and contact hitter. What size and would this be a good bat for her? Adam
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would suggest a 31 inch size. The balanced weight and two-piece design of the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) make it a great option for a contact hitter.
Patrick
My daughter is 16 years old, 5'9", and weighs 140 lbs. What length bat would you recommend? Nick
Based on the player's approximate height and weight, I would suggest 33" in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat: (FPLX150).
Merritt
My daughter is 9 years old, weighs 85 lbs and is almost 5'. She likes a skinny handle, any recommendations? jewell
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) has a fairly skinny handle, but another option that has a slightly thinner handle is the DeMarini CF7.
Jason
Can you tell me what the primary differences are between the LXT and XENO? And do you have a 2 1/2" barrel, or is 2 1/4" all you make? Nick
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) features the TRU3 Three-Piece technology compared to the two-piece iST technology in the Xeno. The TRU3 technology helps reduce vibration and transfer that energy directly into the ball at contact. Both bats are balanced designs and fully composite. Slugger only produces these bats with a 2 1/4" barrel which is the standard for fastpitch softball models.
Mac
Is the LXT or the XENO better for a power hitter? Oaktree
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) are both nice options that can be used by a power hitter. The XENO will flex a bit less which can lead to more control over the bat for a power hitter so it may have a slight edge there but both would work well.
Patrick
Does the LXT have a larger sweet spot than the Xeno 2015 or the Mako 2015? top
No, the 2015 MAKO, 2015 XENO, and the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) should all have very similar sweet spot size. Actually, the 2015 MAKO will have a longer barrel length compared to the XENO and LXT.
Brandon
I have XENO 2014 right now. I want to have more power when I hit, but I am 5'2" and 112 lbs. Would you recommend the LXT 2015 for me? 14u player
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) would be a great choice. Also, the 2015 XENO, or 2015 Easton MAKO would also be great options!
Brandon
Is the LXT considered a ladies bat? dude
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) is a fastpitch softball bat that could be used for men or women playing fastpitch softball. It would not be recommended for slow pitch play.
Patrick
16yr old twins. 5'6.5" in cleats, 175lbs & 5'5.5" in cleats, 155lbs. Both are well experienced and strong players. The taller girl is more of a distance hitter and the shorter one smacks laser line drives. Looking for a top of the line new bat for each for Christmas. Suggestions on sizes and models/styles? Shopping
For the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) our bat coach recommends a 34" 24 oz. bat for the 5'6"175 lb. player and a 33"23 oz. bat for the 5'5" 155 lb. player. For the power hitter we recommend a more end-loaded style bat such as the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Insane Fastpitch Softball Bat (DXCFI) and for the gap hitter we recommend a well-balanced bat like the FPLX150
Joe
My Daughter currently swings a CF6-Insane, which was suggested by a friend for "powerhitters". I recently ordered the Xeno-FPXN151 as a gift for my Daughter after being pointed in the "contacthitters" direction. But I looked here today and see the LXT-FPLX150 and am having doubts about the order. Can you help me to understand what the advantages are of each bat over the others? Daughter is 5'5" 150lbs. Strong player. Second Thoughts
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) is a well-balanced three-piece composite bat featuring a large sweet spot, and drop weight of 10 ounces. The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN151) is a well-balanced two-piece composite bat featuring a drop weight of 11 ounces. In regards to performance and durability these two bats will be very similar.
Joe
Is there any difference between the 2014 model and the 2015? Is it just cosmetic? GB
The difference betweeen the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX150 and the 2014 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX14-RR comes in the year of the model and a slight cosmetic difference.
Ryan
My grand-daughter plays fastpitch softball. She is a power hitter but has outgrown her bat. She is 5'5" and 140 lbs. What bat do you suggest? Paula
Our bat coach recommends a 33"23 ounce bat for a player of her size.
Joe
My daughter is 12 years old and is 5'2" and 111 lbs. What weight and length of the LXT do you recommend? Or would the XENO be better for her? Ronnie
For someone your daughter's height and weight, we recommend using a 32" 22 oz. bat. Both the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN151) are going to be great bats for her to use.
Liz
What bat do you recommend for a slapper (who still bats right handed occasionally with good bat speed)? She will be more of a contact hitter due to her size. She is 13 years old, and 4'9". She currently uses a 31/21. Would the LXT (end loaded) or Xeno (balanced) be better for this situation? 22's mom
Typically for contact or gap hitters, we recommend a two-piece well balanced model. Our bat coach recommends a 31" model for a player of her size, however, she would also be able to use a 32" model as well. The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) would be ideal for a player of her ability. The Xeno does feature a two-piece full composite design, along with Louisville's iST handle technology, which does a good job of eliminating shock and vibration through the handle.
Joe
My daughter is 16 and plays highly competitive softball. Which bat would you recommend for her the LXT or XENO? She is 5' 9" and 128 lbs. 2's dad
The biggest difference between the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) and the Louisville Slugger Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN14-RR) is that the LXT is going to feature an extended barrel design. It is really going to come down to preference. Both bats are great bats for someone you daughter's age, height and weight.
Liz
How is the 2015 version of this bat different from the 2014 version? Also does the 2014 version have the same rough surface to the sweet spot as the 2015? jay
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) is going to be very similar to the 2014 version. The design and materials will be the same. I do not believe the 2014 is going to have the same matte surface that the 2015 features.
Jake
Is the 2015 LXT supposed to have a sandy rough finish? softball24
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) does have a rough finish.
Tom
Is the 2015 LXT supposed to feel like it has sand under the paint? Will this cause the paint to chip? sarah2224
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) will have a rougher feel to it, but it will not cause the paint to chip earlier than any other bat.
Jake
I just got the 2015 LXT yesterday and I used it at practice for the first time today. After hitting about 40-50 balls, I shook my bat. There is an obvious rattle inside the bat. I read that this could just be glue from creating the bat or it could be broken. What's wrong with it? lilo
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) features a composite design. With this design, it is fairly common for the glue used in constructing the layers of composite to bead up, and then fall off on the inside. While this could create a slightly alarming rattling noise, it will not affect the performance or durability of the bat in any way.
Joe
My Daughter is 11 years old, 5'2' and 150 lbs, what size of bat does she need? Jaime Martinez
Using the bat coach feature on our website, I would suggest using the 32" 22 oz. 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150).
Liz
I just bought the LXT 2015 and used it for the first time today. It makes this sound like breaking glass. Will that sound go away when I break the bat in? sara
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) and also the Louisville Slugger XENO line make that glass breaking sound. That is just the sound these bats make. This bat will not require any break-in period. As long as you are hearing that sound, it means the bat is hot and ready to go!
Brandon
I am 16 years old, with a height of 4'11", and am about 115 pounds. What size and weight should my LXT bat be? Cindy Stephanie
For your size our Bat Coach would recommend a 31" in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150). The weight just depends on your preference.
Allison
Do you know when they are planning to release the 2016 LXT? I just received some sneak peak pictures teasing it but no release date. coachD
We have not received any information on a release date for the 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT. We do have a number of options still available in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150).
Jake
My daughter was practicing with a teammate's LXT and the barrel had a textured feel. Is the 2015 LXT 33 inch 23 ounce the FPLX150? Bill
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) would be the 2015 version of the bat in a -10 length to weight ratio with a textured feel to the paint.
Patrick
Is the bat legal for high school softball? jpt
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) will be legal for high school play.
Tom
Is it legal to use in high school now? jpt
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) is approved for ASA and USSSA play.
Tom
My daughter is 11 years old, about 5 foot 2 inches, and 160 pounds. What bat would you recommend and what size? CHL
Based on her height and weight we would recommend getting 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) in a 33 inch. The LXT is designed for contact hitters and would be a great option.
Frankie
Is the 2015 LXT balanced or is it end loaded? 12's dad
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) features a three piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight.
Joe
Is this a good bat for Slappers? TD
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) features a three piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight. The multi-piece model will generate additional flex through the zone which will translate to faster bat speeds for contact hitters.
Joe
We have a 12 year old who is 5'1" and 110 lbs. What would the best bat be? l
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) would be an excellent model for a player of her skill. You could also consider the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Fastpitch Softball Bat (DXCFS) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP15MK10). Any of these models are excellent and will have similar performance.
Joe
I have a 13 year old granddaughter that has a 31" -10. She 5' 9" tall & 160 lbs. I'm going to buy her a LXT. What size does she need? Bubba
For her size we would recommend a 34" in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150). However, if she is comfortable with the 33" it would not hurt to stick with that.

I have had my bat now for about a month and it seems to make a really bad noise and when you tap it against the ground it makes a bad noise. When I swing it, the barrel flexes. Is my bat broken? Should I get another bat? I was thinking of the 2015 Mako. Is that similar? sara
If you feel that your 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) is broken or defective, you should send it in to the manufacturer for testing. If it does have a problem, they should be able to replace it under the warranty. I would not recommend making any assumptions based on the sound the bat makes when you tap it or tap the ground with it. The bat is not meant to hit the ground so the sound it makes when doing that is fairly irrelevant. A significant drop in performance would be the better indication of a problem with the bat. Given its two-piece design, a little flex is to be expected from the LXT. The 2015 Easton MAKO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP15MK10) would have a similar feel to it and would also flex a bit. This flex can cause the bat to whip forward which would increase the velocity of the bat head which is usually a desired effect.

I am a 14U softball player and I have a DeMarini CF6 32" 22 oz., but it's too heavy for me. What bat would you recommend for a 5'1" 12 year old? tl
If a drop -10 is too heavy than the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) will probably be too heavy just like your CF6. I would recommend going to a drop -12. The Louisville Slugger X12 or the DeMarini Vendetta are both drop -12 bats that would be good options.
Jake
Does the LXT come in -11? tl
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) does not come in a drop -11. The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN151) is available in a drop -11.
Jake

Patrick
What are the major differences between the XENO and the LXT? TT

For her size we would recommend a 33" in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150). Either bat is a great balanced option.

Given the popularity of the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) and the number we sell, we do have some issues reported with most of the bats we sell. However, I will say that we do not get an abundance of issues with this bat or even more than average. Overall, it has been very durable and high performing.

Our early season fast pitch softball temps can be very cool 50-70F. What bat would you recommend for these temps? JAG
We do not recommend using any bat, including the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) in temperatures below 55 degrees. In the colder weather, it is actually the ball that becomes more dense, so when making contact with the barrel, it will cause more damage than in warmer conditions. If you have to play in colder temperatures, we recommend using an older bat or an alloy bat, if you can.
Tessa
Would you suggest the Louisville slugger LXT or the Louisville Xeno? She's 12 years old 98 lbs and 5'1 tall. What size should she use? boogie
So it will come down to if she likes a two-piece or a three-piece bat. Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 32" bat.
Tessa
Where is the sweet spot on this bat? cheryl

What is the best way to break in the 2015 LXT? scott
To break-in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch (FPLX150), we suggest around 150 to 200 hits off of a tee or soft toss. When breaking in a composite baseball bat, it is important to start off at about 50% power and gradually increase as your swing count rises. It is also important to rotate the bat about a 1/4 inch on every swing.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
