Just OK Bandit player

Pros: This bat is just ok, seems very average in all aspects. I can't tell the difference between this bat and the last few louisville alloy bats. I am happy that I tried a friend's before purchasing!

Cons: Nothing special, just an average BBCOR bat

2015 Louisville slugger omaha 515 bbcor!! peyton pallette player

Pros: This bat is an amazing bat, I love it. To me this bat is the best bat I have ever had and very comfortable. I bought this bat 03-08-15 and the first time to swing and hit the ball was an amazing feeling and so comfortable to swing, nothing is uncomfortable about this bat unless you hit the ball in the wrong spot. Players, coaches, dads, moms, and anybody that loves baseball, I recommend you getting this bat, you will love it.

Cons: Price is fine for such an amazing bat, you won't regret it.

Everything but the grip! GA Dad parent

Pros: Great bat. Always had a fondness for the sound of the Omaha, not the loud, annoying (IMO) ping of other metal bats. A distinct sound that gets attention when you hit a ball off it. Balanced swing weight, with a slight end load. Consistent performance right away.

Cons: The grip has a strange, spongy feel to it. Replaced with Lizard Skin, and it is much better. Noticed that LS has changed their 2016 BBCOR bat line-up to include Lizard Skin right out-of-the-package, verifying the poorly conceived grip on the 2015 model.

Ehh Senior player

Pros: Ball seems to come off the bat well. I really like the end cap, and how durable it is compared to similar models of different brands.

Cons: Feels terrible if you hit a ball. Period. Doesn't matter if it's on the sweet spot, the handle, or the end of the bat. The vibration and overall feel of the bat were very disappointing.

Yes, based on your approximate height and weight, I would probably suggest a 33" in the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR: (BBO5153).

Which BBCOR bat would you recommend for a contact/ power hitter: the 515 or the 715? catche20
Both bats are going to be pretty balanced bats which are usually recommended for strictly contact hitters. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) is going to feel slightly more end loaded than the Prime 915 and the Omaha 515 so I would probably recommend that for you.
Cooper

Both the, 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) and the Rawlings 5150 would be good bats for you as a contact hitter. However, the Omaha is going to be a little more balanced bat.
Cooper
which bats is better in terms of pop and balance the 2015 rip it air or the 2015 515 omaha baesbolplayer
The 2015 RIP-IT AIR BBCOR Baseball Bat (B1503A) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will have similar balance to one another and will be BBCOR certified which sets the same limits on the bats for the amount of performance or "pop" it can achieve. Preference between the two would really come down to brand preference because they are so similar.
Patrick
Does the barrel on the Omaha flex a lot or is it stiff? nicky baseball
Due to the fact that the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) is a one-piece design, it will have a stiffer feel on contact.
Tessa

For a small 14U contact hitter just transitioning to a BBCOR bat, how would you rate this bat as compared to the Easton all aluminum model? JW
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) is very comparable to the Easton S3. They are both one-piece alloy designs with balanced swing weights. The performance and feel will be very similar between the two bats.
Jason
Is this bat balanced? Gustavo
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) features a balanced swing weight.
Tessa
what bat do you recommend this, the 2015 Vexxum or the 2015 5150? zackkk
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153), 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVXC) and the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) are all nice options. The Omaha and the 5150 will be very similar by design as both will be balanced one-piece alloy bats with a stiff flex. Preference between the two would come down to brand preference. The Vexxum is slightly different in that it is a hybrid design that features a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It will flex more which can help create more bat speed.
Patrick
What bat is replacing last years balanced Assault? My son tried the older balanced Omaha, and I was talked into a DeMarini. Last year I bought him the Assault. As a freshman in high school he hit .527 with 1 hr and 1 off the top of the fence, lots of doubles. Then for summer ball he hit .433, and led the team in RBI's and just loved his bat. I would like to buy another Assault unless there is something new and improved. Al
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) is the model that has replaced the 2014 Assault. The models are almost identical other than the cosmetic appearance.
Jason
I really liked the Z-1000 BBCOR when I hit with it. Which bat is most similar to that? Alan
Of the current Louisville Slugger bats, the one-piece design of the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) would be most similar to the older Z-1000. The Z-1000 featured a one-piece composite design, so it would have required a break in period. The Omaha 515 is an alloy bat, so it will be good to go right out of the wrapper. The shared one-piece design of the Omaha 515 and the Z-1000 means that they will be have a stiffer feel on contact and will allow for better bat control as well.
Tessa
I'm in 9th grade. I'm 5'10" and weigh 155 lbs. I hit for average. I want to know which bat between the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 and the Easton S2 will produce better results? panda
Both the Easton S2 and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will get you the same type of results. Both bats feature alloy barrels and no break-in period is required. The Omaha is a one-piece design and will feel more stiff. The S2 will be a two-piece design. It will flex more and stop a good amount of hand sting and vibration. Both bats will feel incredibly balanced and light.
Brandon
I'm 5'3" hitting for contact, but last year was in a real slump and I am just getting out of a cast from fracturing my ankle. What would you rather recommend me to get out of my slump? This or the 2014 CF6? cw027
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) is a one-piece alloy bat featuring a flex-band barrel as well as a high-grade alloy. There will be no break-in period on this bat, and it does come with a 30 day guarantee for return or exchange. The 2014 DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCFC) is a two-piece composite bat featuring the Paradox composite as well as a D-Fusion handle which will absorb shock and vibration traveling through the bat. This bat will require a break-in period. In terms of performance, both bats will be similar, however the CF6 will allow for more flex through the zone, which can help increase your bat speed.
Joe
What bat of the new Louisville bats is most like the Louisville TPX Triton: the Omaha 515, 715 or the Prime 915? cw027
The Triton will be most similar to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153). The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will be a single piece all alloy model while the Triton and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat:(BBP9153) will be all composite bats that use a 3-piece technology. 3-piece technology for those bats mean that each model will have an additional 3rd-piece (Triton=Bubble Transition Zone / Prime 915= socket) that helps connect the barrel and and handle.
Ben
My son is trying out for middle school team and is coming off using a 30" 18 oz. model last year and I am concerned about the weight of the bat due to his smaller size. They must use BBCOR -3. What model do you recommend? Cas
I would recommend using a balanced bat like the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153). The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVXC) as well as the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) are both balanced bats that would be good for a smaller player making the jump to BBCOR bats.
Jake
What is the difference between the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR and the Louisville Slugger Assault BBCOR? Joey
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) actually replaced the 2014 Louisville Slugger Assault BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBAS14-RR). The differences are in a slight upgrade to the durability of the Omaha 515 as well as updated cosmetics. Additionally, the Omaha 515 will carry a 30-day performance promise which allows players to use the bat for up to 30 days and return for a full refund or exchange for another bat.
Joe
Is the EXOGRID 3 BBCOR better than the Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 bat? Which has more pop? Which is better for a contact hitter? blake
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) and the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EX) are both nice options. Performance or "pop" will be limited on both by the BBCOR standard so one will not outperform the other. The major difference is the construction. The Exogrid has composite inserts in the handle to give it a bit more flex than the Omaha and a bit more sting and vibration protection. The trade-off is that the Omaha will offer better control. For a contact hitter, I would lean more toward an Exogrid.
Patrick
What is the difference between this bat and the black Rawlings 5150? con
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) and the Rawlings 5150 are both very comparable bats. They both feature a one-piece alloy design and have balanced swing weights. The Omaha 515 is made out of ST+20 alloy and the Rawlings 5150 is made out of 5150 alloy. They are both top of the line alloys.
Jason
How does this bat compare to the 2013 Omaha? v
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will be very similar to the 2013 Omaha. Both models feature the same ST+20 Alloy barrel. The main difference between the two model years is that the 2015 Omaha features Flex Band Barrel Technology. The Flex Band is an inch wide graphite band keeps the barrel's walls thin and the swing weight of the bat as low as possible. The Flex Band also helps give bats one of the biggest sweet spots as well.
Tessa
Is this bat on the approved Little League 2015 list to be used at a U13 level? Rich V
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) features the BBCOR certification stamp and is legal for play in U13 Little League.
Jason
Which better would better suite a power hitter at the collegiate level? The Omaha 515 or a Rawlings VELO? Josh
Both the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) are going to be a one-piece alloy designed bat with a balanced swing weight. Both the VELO and the Omaha 515 are going to be designed more for a power hitter.
Liz
How is the swing weight of the Omaha 515 in relation to the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS? Jason
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will be very balanced in swing weight. It will have a similar swing weight to the DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR.
Brandon
Would you consider this bat for a contact hitter? RyRy
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) would be a nice option for a contact hitter. It has a balanced feel for a lighter swing weight and is hot out of the wrapper.
Patrick
I need a bat that has a lot of power and can consistently hit for extra bases. I also want a bat that has a smooth swing all the way through. Will this bat suit my needs? Dunkin
I think this Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will contain all the characteristics for which you are searching in a bat. It will be single-piece, all-alloy bat that has an overall balanced feel. In addition, the Flex Band Technology allows this bat to have thinner barrel walls, which results in the balanced feel and lighter swing weight while achieving the performance standards allowed within BBCOR certification. If you like a single-piece design and all-alloy construction then I don't think you need to look much further than this Omaha 515 as you should be able to hit for power and average with this bat!
Ben
This question is generic to all BBCOR bats. Since the new BBCOR rule and the .50 BPF standard, aren't all bats technically equal? Won't I get the same amount of pop and performance in this, as I would have last year with the CF6? With these new rules, what actually are different about the bats? Noah
Yes, you are exactly right! The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) would perform up to the same .50 BPF standard as the DeMarini CF6 BBCOR. The difference mainly is that the alloy Omaha will not require a break-in and be hottest out of the wrapper. It will lose its pop over time. The composite CF6 will need a short break-in period and get hotter over time. It will hold its performance longer.
Brandon
I'm a short boy playing baseball. My league is required to use BBCOR bats. I'm 4'8", what bat should I use? The Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 in 29/26 or the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS? chan
Both the DeMarini Vexxum and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) will be very balanced and swing perfect for you. Also, both are getting very high reviews. The Omaha is a one-piece design, while the Vexxum is a two-piece design. The two-piece Vexxum will deflect more hand sting and vibration.

If I'm a contact hitter which bat would you recommend? The Omaha 515, Select 715 or Prime 915? isaac
All three bats would be good options for a contact hitter. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) is going to be a one-piece all alloy which we generally recommend to more power hitters. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) are both going to be three-piece designs which we recommend more to contact hitters. It comes down to whether you want the alloy barrel on the Select 715 or the composite barrel on the Prime 915.

What is the pop compared the to Easton XL1? nickh
"Pop" is more of a term associated with the skill of the player rather than a measurable feature of the bats. BBCOR certified bats like the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) or the 2015 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15X1) should have similar performance at their peak. What you want to look for, and what you end up paying for, is the feel of the bat (balance, swing weight, sting or vibration protection) and the durability of the bat (how long that similar peak level of performance should last). The XL1 will offer a more barrel heavy or end-loaded feel with better sting and vibration protection. The Omaha 515 will be more balanced for a lighter swing. In general, alloy bats tend to perform at that peak level for less time compared to composite models. The choice between the two would be based on what features you value more.
Patrick
Between the 5150, the Omaha and the S3, what bat has the best balance? Does the S3 extended barrel give that bat a performance edge over the others? Matty Matt
Between the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153), 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2015 Easton S3Z ZCORE BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S3Z), the S3Z will have the most balanced design. The extended barrel on the S3Z allows for more room for error when hitting, providing a larger sweet spot area.
Patrick

The designs of the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) and the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) are extremely similar. The preference would ultimately come down to brand or style preference rather than one being rated better than the other.
Patrick

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
