Description

When the CAT 5 burst onto the baseball scene, it became one of the top aluminum bats on the market. This year, Marucci raises the stakes again with unbelievable new technology in the CAT 6 (MJBBC6). Through endless field testing with the top players in America, Marucci discovered that vibration in the top hand is the most common complaint amongst amateur baseball players. Marucci has acquired a patented new anti-vibration technology that blows the competition away. They hired noted bat scientist Dr. Daniel A. Russell to do some lab testing against the top bats on the market. The results were shocking. He found that the vibration dampening rate on the CAT 6 is 5.6 times higher than the next closest competitor! For the player, this means that they can step up to the plate worry-free with one thing on their mind; blasting one over the fence! This is literally the smoothest swinging bat ever produced. Experience the difference of this one-piece bat made from the most responsive alloy in the industry. Marucci: Game Tested. Player Approved. This bat features the USSSA BPF 1.15 Stamp. The Marucci CAT 6 carries a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Love the balance and pop off of this bat. Has been a favorite with our 8u team. Would highly suggest the Cat 6 for players making that first jump to the big barrels.

Cons: none

Cat 6 is a Dog Steve Switzer coach

Pros: Looks good, Kids love saying, "Cat 6...Cat 6...Cat 6"

Cons: The bat is dead. Small sweet spot. I got a 27/17 for my 7 year old and he doesn't use it any more. He went back to his older Easton XL3 27/17. I will throw a half bucket with the Easton XL3 and a half bucket with the Cat 6 and their is a noticeable difference in favor of the Easton. I read all of the reviews on bats and wonder, "how do 7 year olds put dents in bats??", well he did it in his first BP with the CAT 6. He's an average 7 year old and has slightly above average bat speed. I took it back to Marucci's head quarters since we live close to Baton Rouge. They offered to swap it out for free, but didn't have his size that day. I could bring it back, but I won't bother. He uses the Easton. With that said, I am a huge fan of Marucci items (helmets, fielding gloves, apparel, wooden bats), but pass on the Cat 6.

Great Purchase - Great bat Carl J. parent

Pros: My son loves this bat. I haven't seen too many Marucci bats around, but I tried this one out and I am very happy with it. Great barrel and pop. My son can't wait for the season to start.

Cons: Haven't come across any.

Best. Bat. Period. Mike parent

Pros: My 6 year old son has always been an above average hitter. The pop on this bat is ridiculous... ball comes off hot and it's ready to go right out of the wrapper. After swinging Eastons and being displeased with the 2015 Mako, I decided to get him this bat. It is something special. Well balanced and ridiculous pop!

Cons: Little pricey.

Great bat! A parent parent

Pros: This is a really well balanced bat! The weight is really evenly distributed which made it easy for my 7 year old to swing. He had trouble swinging other 27 drop 17 bats since he is tall and thin but not this one! It has great pop. It has less vibration than other bats tried by my son

Cons: None so far but we only have only had it about 1 month

awesome bat X D's dad parent

Pros: great pop with little to no vibration in the handle no matter where on the bat my son hits the ball.

Cons: The bat grip has already started to wear off. First time in the cage and halfway through my son noticed the grip tearing up. Easy fix. We custom his bats with lizard skin anyway sonthis made it easier to justify to mom to go buy more baseball stuff.

Great Bat Joe coach

Pros: sounds great, the ball jumps off the bat, weighted nicely for a jr bat. My 7 year old son just got this bat and he loves it, he is a little small for the size but he swings it well and the ball jumps off the barrel compared to the bat he was using. it was supposed to have a blemished grip and came with a free one, but the grip looks amazing so we have a back up grip now.

Cons: the vibration from inside pitches hurt his hands, but he keeps swinging.

New Cat6 Ken w Coach

Pros: Sounds good when my son hits the ball no vibration. My son loves the sound of the bat when he hits the ball it makes him swing harder. He loves the bat and won't swing his other new bat purchased this year

Cons: I ordered my 7 year old son the Cat6 27 -10 after other coaches thought his 2 piece Easton Beast Hybrid 28 -10 he swung looked to heavy for him to swing. When the Cat6 arrived I weighed both bats on my wives cooking scale the Cat6 came in at 18.3 ounces and the Easton came in at 18.4 ounces

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this senior league or coach pitch bat? meow
The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) is designed mainly for coach pitch.
John
What size CAT 6 would you recommend for a 6 year old that is 44" tall and weighs 45 pounds? nelson
Based on your player's height and weight, we would recommend the 26" model of the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) - (http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/).
Mac
Is it evenly balanced or end loaded? tnG8R
The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) will definitely be evenly balanced and have a light swing weight.
Brandon
How did this bat compare with the Marucci Cat 5 MJBB2 bat? Is it the same material? Built similar? Same pop as the Cat 5? My son had great success with it and now, I've got another one coming up through the younger ranks. nelson
The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) will feel similar to the older CAT 5. The AZ3000 alloy material will be very similar between both bats. The new CAT 6 will eliminate more hand sting and vibration due to the anti-vibration technology.
Brandon
I'm looking for a replacement for the CAT 5 (MJBB2) bat we had that is now discontinued. Is this the closest thing you've seen to that bat? What other bats would you recommend that are very similar? My son seemed to really hit the ball far with the CAT 5. batter up
This 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) would be the most comparable design to the CAT 5 Junior Big Barrel. For other -10 Junior models, I would check out the Easton S3 and Slugger Assault: http://goo.gl/67bfL9.
Mac
My son is 8. He is 53" tall and weighs 70 lbs. He wants a CAT 6. He currently uses an Easton MAKO 27/15. He is a power hitter. I am trying to decide if this would be a good choice for him or not. Any tips are appreciated. MRDL
The CAT6 models would be a great choice. The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) is typically only used in Coach Pitch leagues. If he is in kid pitch I would check out this version: 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC68). The one-piece fully alloy design will provide a stiff feel and great performance.
Brandon
My son is 7 (coach pitch) 50" tall and approximately 55-60 lbs. My question is, should I get the 27"17 oz. or just stay with the 26"16 oz. model? RDR
For a player of his size, our bat coach would actually recommend the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) in a 27" 17 oz. model. Typically, most players are able to swing the drop 10 in that size fairly comfortably.
Joe
Would you suggest this bat for a 9 to 10 year old kid pitch league? If not, my son is 9 years old, 56", and 60 lbs. What bat would you suggest? dustferg
The barrel walls on the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) might be a little too thin for 9 & 10 year old kid pitch which can lead to premature damage. If you are wanting to stay with the Cat 6 I would recommend the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC68). This bat will have thicker walls and will be able to withstand the pitching speeds better.
Jake
Does this bat come hot right out of the box or does it need to be broken in? Big Papi
The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) is an alloy barrel bat that would not need to be broken in. Only composite barrel bats will need to be broken in.
Patrick
What bat is seeing more pop in younger players? The 27 inch 17 ounce Easton S1 or the 27 inch 17 ounce Cat 6? My kid has an S1, but I am hearing great things about the Cat 6. Rocketboy
"Pop" is more of a term associated with the skill of the player rather than a quantifiable feature of the bat. Due to the safety restrictions imposed on the bats, most models will perform very similarly at their peak the difference would be in the feel of the bat and the durability. The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) and the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) compare well in those aspects. The CAT 6 would be hot out of the wrapper while the S1 may require a bit of break-in to get going.
Patrick
What is the warranty on this bat? Jason
The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) features a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty from Marucci.
Tom
What is a good bat for machine pitch? The speed is about 45 mph. The bat diameter is 2 5/8 inches maximum. Joe
For pitches of that speed, you will want to use a Senior League or "Youth Big Barrel" model rather than a Junior Big Barrel bat like this 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6). Here is a link to some models that would qualify: http://www.justbats.com/products/barrel%20diameter~2%205-8/baseball%20bats~youth%20big%20barrel/?sortBy=TotalSales%20Descending&size=24.
Patrick
My 8 year old, 90 pound 50 inch tall player will be making the move to his first kid pitch this season (9u). Up to now he has been swinging an S1 26 inch 16 ounce in coach pitch. I wanted to try the Cat 6, but not sure if I go with a 26 or 27 inch for his first kid pitch season? JayP
If he is playing kid pitch, you will not want to use a Junior Big Barrel model like the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6). Junior Big Barrel bats will dent if used to hit kid pitch style pitching. You would want to use a Youth model or a Senior League model. Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 29 inch 19 ounce size.
Patrick
Is it approved for Dixie Youth Baseball? Matt
The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter and is not legal for play in Dixie Youth Baseball.
Jason
My son is 7 and plays on a travel ball team (coach pitch). He needs a 27/17 bat. Should he get the CAT 6 jbb or the Hex Alloy sl 2 3/4"? Which is the better bat? Does one bat have more pop than the other? joe
The Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) and the 2016 Marucci Hex Alloy Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBAHAX10) are both great bats to consider. The Marucci Cat 6 will feature thinner walls which will translate into more of a trampoline effect on the ball but the thinner walls make it more susceptible to denting as it cannot handle much velocity; which is why it's made for coach pitch. The 2016 Marucci Hex Alloy Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBAHAX10) will have thicker walls and less trampoline effect but can withstand velocity better and will be a bat that your son should be able to get more use out of moving forward.
Cameron
How will the swing weight compare to an Easton S3 2 3/4 jr big barrel? 27/17 knowdledgeispower
The Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) will feature a balanced swing weight like the 2016 Easton S3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16S310B).
Cameron
Is this bat better than the new 2016 Easton S3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16S310B? Since this bat is $179 and the Easton is $99. Luis
Both of these are good quality bats. The Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 features anti-vibration technology and a longer barrel. It also has optimized wall thickness that allows for faster swing speeds. These components reflect the difference in price.
Angelique
Is there a pitch speed velocity limit on this bat? Coach
I would not recommend using this Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) at velocities over 40-45 mph.
Ben
Which length bat would you recommend for a 48" 7 year old that weighs 48 pounds? Robin
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend using a 27" Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6.
John P.
What size bat should a 10 year old who is 4 feet 8 inches tall use? jeff
For their height we recommend using a 30" length bat. For their age we recommend a -10 length to weight ratio which is 20 oz.
Angelique
Son is 6 years old, 7 in a month. Little over 4' tall and around 53 lbs. Which weight/length would you recommend? Ricky
For your son's height and weight we recommend a 28" length. For his age we recommend a -12 length to weight ratio which is 16 oz.
Angelique
My son is 7 years old and we need to upgrade his bat for 8U coach pitch. He's 5'3" and weighs 77 lbs. What size would you recommend? aces1025
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 30" Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6.
John P.
What is the diameter of the bat? Is it 2 3/4" or 2 5/8"? izzy
This Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) will come with a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Ben
My 7 year old son plays machine pitch (35-40 mph). Can he use this bat? I'm considering purchasing the 27". Mikal
The Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 would not be advised for use in machine pitch leagues, as the bat is not built to handle speeds faster than coach pitch.
Nick
My son is coming out of tee ball using a 25"/13 oz sized bat and is going into coach pitch. Is the CAT 6 (25"/15 oz) going to be too heavy for him? sneed
I would imagine that if your player has grown since last using the 25"/13 oz bat, he should be just fine using the 25"/15 oz model of this Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) for use in coach pitch. If you feel like he will be wanting to use the bat longer into the future, I would maybe even recommend going to the 26"/16 oz size.
Ben
My son is transitioning into coach pitch and is 7. he will turn 8 during season and play on 8u team. He is more of a contact hitter and is 50" tall and about 53 lbs. He currently swings a 2 1/4 bat at 26" 15 oz. He gets around on it pretty good and has great control of the bat. He has tried his friends 27" CAT 6 and we saw a big difference in his swing speed and he had lost all the control he had. Do you recommend a 26" CAT 6 junior or go ahead and get the 27" and let him learn to swing it? I want to get him a 2 3/4 for the bigger barrel but don't want to kill his swing speed and control. B's dad
If he was not comfortable with the 27" bat I would not recommend getting it. It sounds like he should go ahead and get the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 in the 26" version.
Carter
My son currently hits a 26" Easton 2 1/4 -11 and has good bat speed and control. He is starting a coach pitch league and can use the 2 3/4 bats. Friend has the 27" Junior CAT 6 and my son borrowed it. He had an obvious swing speed drop and lost his control. Should I get him a 26" or let him learn to get used to the 27"? He is 50" tall and weighs 53 lbs and is a contact hitter. What are the benefits to this bat verses the Easton S3? swjake
The correct size to get is really up to you. If he is having success with the smaller bat (26") then it would be wise to stick with this size with the younger player. If you are thinking about what to get for down the road then it would certainly be better to go with the 27" bat as he will surely outgrow a 26" bat between now and next spring. As for the comparisons between the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 and the Easton S3, both of these bats are one-piece fully alloy designs with balanced swing weights. Hard to say which bat is necessarily the better one to get; we would defer to customer reviews as well as any personal experience you have with either of these bats to make your selection.
Cameron
Is this approved for USSSA? Brad
Yes, the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 does feature the USSSA 1.15 stamp.
Marcus
Currently, my six year old is using an Easton Mako JBB (27"/15 oz) for his coach pitch league (swings it well). Looking to get him a new bat that is a -10. Looking at the Marucci CAT JBB (26/16) or the Marucci Hex Composite (27/17). Which direction should I go? Ray
Since your player is currently swinging a 27" bat, I would recommend keeping him at that same length. Because of that, I would probably suggest getting the 2016 Marucci Hex Alloy (MSBAHAX10) or the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) in the 27"/17 oz size. That 17 oz weight may provide a little bit of an adjustment period for your player, but I think he will be just fine with time. Both of the bats have been excellently rated bats and I really believe that either would be a great bat for your player. However, if you wanted to get the better deal, I would suggest this CAT 6 since it can be bought for cheaper.
Ben
Boy is 7, 49 inches tall, and 65 lbs. Do you think a 27/17 is too small? foe
Based on your son's height and weight I would recommend the 27"/17 ounce Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6).
Carter
Can this bat be used for 8U machine pitch, I think it's at 41 mph? dan
The Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 is designed for coach pitch leagues and we would not recommend it for machine pitch at 41 MPH as this speed will damage the bat rather quickly.
Cameron
My son is 7 years old, 49" tall, and he only weighs 49 pounds. I was thinking about going with the 25"/15 oz size of this bat. What do you recommend? Jay
Based upon you player's height and weight, I think that he could probably use the larger sizes of this Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6). I would probably recommend the 27"/17 oz size of this CAT 6 bat.
Ben
My son is 5 and in coach's pitch this fall. Height is 44" and weight is 37 pounds. The CAT 6 looks like it has the best reviews. Your recommendations? Any other bats other than this one and recommended size? Stace
It would be hard to find a better bat for a young player than the MJBBC6. Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 27" 17 ounce for that bat.
Logan
My son is almost 7 years old, about 48" tall and a little over 50lbs. In the summer he plays coach pitch and now he started machine pitch for fall. Is there a bat that you would recommend for both? Bob
It's hard to recommend a bat for both as coach pitch and machine pitch leagues can have different bat rules. If both of your leagues allow 2 3/4" barrel bats, then this would be a good bat to use.
Kyle J.
Does this have the 2 1/4 inch barrel? murphy
The Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 has a 2 3/4 inch barrel.
Dan
Does this bat have the USA Baseball stamp on it? randall
No, unfortunately the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 does not feature the USA Baseball certification stamp on it. This model is only certified with the USSSA certification stamp.
Jason
Can my grandsons (10 and 9 years of age) use this bat for recreation baseball in Georgia? harris
I would recommend checking with the league to ask if they are still permitting bats for use that have the USSSA 1.15 stamp on them. If they are permitting bats with that stamp, this Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC6) would be fine for use. That being said, this CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel bat is meant for coach pitch and machine pitch baseball. If your players are playing in kid pitch baseball leagues, the CAT bat that you will want to view is the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10).

Not sure to go with 26/16 or 27/17. His T-Ball bat is 26/12. He just turned 6 but he is tall. Leo
Based on the fact that his previous bat weighted just 12 ounces I would recommend using the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 in the 26"/16 ounce size.

My son is 7, weighs 50 lbs and is 4'1". Needs a bat with the USA stamp on it. Does this have the stamp or recommend another? baseball
Unfortunately Marucci does not make any USA certified bats so the Marucci CAT 6 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC6 would not be legal for your son. Based on his height and weight, we would recommend getting a USA bat in a 28 inch length. The weight of the bat is more reflective on the player's strength but generally speaking you are seeking either a 16 ounce (-12 bat) or 17 ounce (-11 model).
