Description

The team at COMBAT said that "something big" was in the works. But the bat that emerged has pushed through the boundaries of what was even considered possible with a composite bat design! Introducing: the new COMBAT MAXUM! COMBAT has made a name for themselves in the bat industry by consistently delivering bats that offer an extreme combination of a light swing weight and HUGE sweet spot, but the MAXUM takes the crown in both categories. This COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 provides hitters with an almost unfair sweet spot that is 20-40% larger than competitor models! Switching to the MAXSL108 will also result in an average of 26% Swing Weight Reduction! These bats are one-piece composite designs created through advanced Precision Molding Technology (PMT). Unlike typical composite bats that are created by rolling/overlapping layers of material, the PMT process injects liquid resin into seamless high-quality carbon sleeves under extreme pressure. The result is an ultra-consistent product that eliminates seams/weak points that you get with the traditional process. That means that players can rest-assured that the MAXUM will deliver perfectly tuned performance over a longer lifespan. The MAXSL108 carries the USSSA BPF 1.15 Performance Certification mark on its taper and is backed by a full twelve (12) month warranty. COMBAT: Measure Up to MAXUM! Free Shipping!

One Word - RIDICULOUS Cody Rich coach

Pros: This bat is the best we have swung all year. We have and the Mako, the CF7 - both bats have become and after thought. The ball screams off the barrel... and you've got to love that "CRACK" when making contact. Snake skin crap is great, love the color... this bat is sexy.

Cons: none.

Freakish!!!!! Greg, parent and coach parent

Pros: My son is 11 and weighs 119 lbs, he has been swinging the Easton xL1, 31 21. He used this combat last night, and hit two "bombs" and one single for for 5 total RBI's. The really crazy part, he claims this 31/23 Combat feels lighter then the 31/21 XL1!!! Mega pop right out of the wrapper, best bat ever purchased and I have 2 boys that have been playing competitive baseball for 5 years.

Cons: Price is a little chunky, but worth it.

crazy bat steve player

Pros: The pop in this bat is just crazy. Probably is the closest thing to an illegal bat that they'll let you play with in usssa ball. Like most of combats composite model's this has huge sweet spot too. Also feels way lighter than a -8, which can be a great thing. Probably neck and neck with 2014 -8 xl1

Cons: Nothing really, if you're looking for a heavier bat, just get the -5 xl1. I wouldn't recommend for kids who have to use bbcor next year since it has a the swing feel of a little league bat...... very light!

huge sweet spot! J Web parent

Pros: My son has a CF7 and this Combat Maxum. The CF7 has slightly more pop but only in the sweet spot. The sweet spot on the Maxum is huge! Hit it anywhere on the barrel and the ball flies. The bat is far more balanced vs the CF7 as well.

Cons: none so far

YouthCoach Jake coach

Pros: Pretty bat.. outstanding weight distribution for a 'speed' bat.. little to no vibration.

Cons: No pop.. none. Nada. They say there is no break in period required - it's hot out of the box. The barrel material sounds like aluminum, the bat says composite. The ball goes nowhere. Sending it back.

12 yo love's his new bat! MLee parent

Pros: Pop right out of the wrapper - First day out, he hit 3 out of 10 swings HR and then hit 1 in his scrimmage! That was on a chilly February day. Large sweet spot Balanced - swings lighter than the weight 500 day warranty helps me feel better about the price (see con)

Cons: Price No issues noted

Great Bat!!` Sean coach

Pros: First tourney and two off the fence. He is 108 pounds and swings the 31 inch bat. He swings it very well. The sweet spot is very large as it has the largest barrel surface of any bat in the -8 category. We were either going to go with the Prime 916 or the Maxxum. Glad we paid the extra money for the Maxxum.

Cons: A little vibration if not hit square. Doesn't happen very often due to the size of the barrel. One piece construction bats have a tendency to have a little more vibration than the 2 piece constructed bats. Nothing a little bp can't fix.

Combat Maxum is da bomb ! D Sizzle player

Pros: Swings very light, has great pop right from the start and will get even hotter as its broke in. The barrel is huge and so is the sweet spot, its hard to mishit with this bat. The entire team is using the bat now after the first tournament and they saw this thing is dropping bombs !!! We have Mako's, Demarini CF and Voodoo's and this bat has become the team favorite in a hurry.

Cons: None, its in the same price range as other top composite bats.

What size would you recommend for my son who is 5 foot and weighs 115 pounds? Jeff
I recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108) in a 31 inch.
Frankie
I am 5 foot 9 and weigh 150 pounds. What size should I get? I have a 2015 XL1 31 inch 23 ounce. cam brown
Based on height and weight, I would suggest a 32 inch size of the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108).
Patrick
Is this bat for a power hitter or a contact hitter? pace12345
Given its balance and stiff flex, the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108) could be used by either style of player.
Patrick
Is this bat BBCOR? Jamie
No, the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108) is not a BBCOR certified model. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM BBCOR Baseball Bat (MAXAB103) would be the BBCOR certified version of the bat.
Patrick
What size bat would you suggest in this model for 12 year old? He is 5 foot tall and 100 lbs. Woz
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108.
Jason
Would you recommend this bat or the DeMarini CF8 (DXCFR) for our son who is 13 years old who, although he is a bigger, stronger boy at 5'8" and 135 lbs, is probably actually more of a contact hitter? Natalie H
Both of these bats are very balanced, which is beneficial for a contact hitter. The difference between the two bats is the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 is a one piece fully composite, whereas the DeMarini CF6 Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCFR is a two-piece fully composite design. Typically, contact hitters prefer the two-piece design because the two-piece bats flex during the player's swing, which causes a whip-like action generating more inertia and power.
Nick
Is this bat ready to go right out of the box, or would you recommend break-in time? My son is 13 yrs old 5'9" and 140 lbs, strong kid who hits with power. Would you recommend this bat for a power hitter? JRB
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 will be ready to go right out of the box. The newest composite materials are designed to have zero break in period. This bat would be great for a power hitter due to the one piece design. A lot of power hitters really like that one piece structure because of the stiffness in the bat throughout the swing.
Nick
What size should my son use? He's 5'8", 115 pounds and 12 years old. He plays travel ball on a 12U team. I don't want to buy him a bat that he will out grow in a few months. Boggie
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend that he swing a 33" length. He is right on the line of needing a 32" or 33" length, but the 33" allows him to grow into the bat and does not run the risk of him outgrowing the bat anytime soon.
Nick
What size would you recommend for a player who is 5'2" and weighs about 115 pounds? big d
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend using a 31" 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108.
John P.
My son is 12 years old and soon to be 13. He is 5'10" and 175 pounds. What length of bat should he use? JP
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108.
John P.
My son is 13 and 5'6". What length would you recommend? Joe
Based on your son's height, we would recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 in a 31 or 32 inch model (his weight will also factor into this slightly and for a better idea we would recommend using our bat coach feature: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/)
Cameron
My son is 11, 5' and 107 pounds. He's big and strong for his age. Looking for a new bat. We are interested in the Combat MAXUM. Any suggestions? Darrin
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 in a 30 inch 22 ounce model.
Cameron
I am 5'2" and 130 pounds. What size should I get? Gavin
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108.
Jason
My son is 5'11", 110 pounds. Stays in yard no home runs yet . This bat or another? Chad Bartley
I think a 31" 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108) would be an excellent option for you.
Jake
How does the Combat MAXUM (2 5/8") compare with the Easton MAKO XL and the DeMarini CF8? Wes
This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108) is built with a one-piece, all-composite design, balanced swing weight and -8 length-to-weight ratio (in addition to its 2 5/8" barrel diameter). Those characteristics will make it pretty similar to the MAKO XL (SL16MK8) and the DeMarini CF8 (DXCFR). The biggest thing that will separate the MAXUM from the MAKO XL and CF8 is the MAXUM's one-piece design while the other two bats are two-piece options. As well, the MAKO XL specifically differs in feel from the MAXUM as the MAKO XL is end-loaded.
Ben
My son is 11 years old, 5'4", 95 lbs. He currently swings a 31/22 balanced bat. We are looking at a -8 this year and a -5 next year in an effort to get closer to the inevitable -3. Which bat has a lower MOI, Combat Maxum or DeMarini CF7 or CF8? Greg D
All three of the bats you listed are going to have a very low MOI and be extremely balanced bats. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 would be a great option, but with that being said the DeMarini CF7 and the DeMarini CF8 are also very balanced bats and would be good options too.
Carter
Does this bat have a one year warranty? Kamren
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat MAXSL108 features a 500 day manufacturer's warranty.
John
My son is 12 years old just under 5 ft and weighs 80 lbs and he has been swinging an Easton S-1 29-19 for the past couple years. What's your recommendation? John
Based on your son's height and weight we would recommend a 30"/22oz 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108).
Carter
My son is 10 and turning 11 in February before his next season starts. He weighs 90 pounds and is 5 feet tall. I'm on the fence between the 30/22 and the 31/23. I keep reading that this bat swings light. What do you recommend? He used the Marucci Hex alloy 29/19 last spring. Thomas
Based on your son's height and weight I would recommend the 30" length. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 does have a light swing weight, but your player still has time to work up to the BBCOR -3 weight.
Linsey
can this bat be used at temperatures lower than 60 degrees? T3
It is not recommended to use a composite bat, such as the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108), in temperatures below 60 degrees. Lower temperatures will decrease the bats performance and increase the potential of cracking.
Carter
I am 5'6" and 165 pounds what size would you recommend? Johnny Baseball
I would advise going with a 32" 24 oz size in the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108.
Sean
What are ways to prevent a bat from cracking? Everret
The best way to prevent a bat like this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL108) from cracking would be to limit the use of the bat to one player. As well, I would recommend ceasing practice use of the bat at temps below 55 degrees.
Ben
Is this bat approved for Dixie Youth baseball play? I researched but couldn't find a yes or a no on the Dixie site. They only had a list for the 2 1/4 bats. trav
Dixie Boys (age 13-14) allow 2 5/8" barrel bats. Composite bats, such as the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108, must be BBCOR certified, which this bat is not. Therefore, the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 is not approved for Dixie baseball.
Logan
Does this bat have "double wall" construction or "single wall" construction? Jake
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL108 is a double wall bat.
