Description

For 2016, Easton has brought the most expansive line of power and performance to the market with the all-new Power Brigade Series!

TCT Thermo Composite Technology is the key to the MAKO's industry-leading swing speed, massive sweet spot, and pure feel on contact. This innovative material comprises both the barrel and handle which are united by Easton's patented 2-PC ConneXion Technology. By isolating the handle from the barrel with the connection joint, energy transfer is maximized while simultaneously eliminating any unwanted vibration. The MAKO's foundation is then optimized with a lower MOI for the best combination of barrel and bat speed on the market.

The MAKO features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter, -10 length to weight ratio, new HYPERSKIN Performance Grip, and the USSSA BPF 1.15 Certification. Pros: Just bought this bat for my son who moved up from Majors to Juniors, (50-70) mound and bases. He took BP with it and I was amazed at the pop this bat had. He is swinging a 32" -10. I was worried about the big barrel slowing his bat speed down. This bat seems to have increased his bat speed. He was hitting some serious line drives. He did send a couple that would have left the park, but the pop of this bat is huge. His buddy has the Mako Torq and there was a big difference in the pop of the bats.

Cons: None yet, only hit around 50 balls so far. Seems to be holding up very well. It is a bit expensive compared to the Torq, but the difference is huge.

Top Notch Derek's Dad coach

Pros: Bought a 28/18 for my son. He broke it in by hitting baseball off a tee, probably about 100 or so. Took it to practice the next day and he was hitting screamers off the coach's pitches. 7/8 in first 2 games. The 1 out was a great play by the other teams shortstop. Coming from an SL14S210 and Louisville Slugger 715. This bat is heads and shoulders better in barrel size, pop! and swing balance. Really surprised at the difference this bat is making.

Cons: More feedback than LS 715. At least that is what my son is saying. He complained of vibration on one hit (out of >100 hits). Nothing I am too concerned with. If anything I am glad there is more feedback because it means this bat has a stiffer handle/barrel.

Is this bat legal for little league 50/70 intermediate league? sparkya1
No, the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) is not approved for play in Little League Intermediate. The intermediate division requires composite barrel bats to be BBCOR certified which the SL16MK10 is not.
John
What is different between this and last year's model? AK
The graphics, color scheme and grip material on the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) are different from the previous model year. This year is also the first year the MAKO is featured as a -10 in a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter. Previous 2 5/8 inch barrel models were -9.
Patrick
which length and weight is good for 11 year old 5'0 75lbs? Eric
For someone with your player's height and weight, I would recommend going with the 30" 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10.
John
Does this bat come in a 27 inch? Dirinda
The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) currently comes in a 28 inch size as the smallest available.
Patrick
My son is 12 years old and will be playing 12u next year. Would you recommend either the Mako XL 2 1/4 barrel or the Mako 2 3/4 barrel for someone his age? I notice the length and weight is the same for both bats at 30 inches 20 ounces. What are the advantages and disadvantages to both for someone his age? Paul
The rules of the league that you play in would determine what barrel diameter you would need to use. Typically, at his age, the 2 5/8 inch or 2 1/4 inch would be more commonly accepted than the 2 3/4 inch model. If you can use the bigger barrel diameter like the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) it just gives you more surface area to hit with to possibly square up more pitches.
Patrick
My son is 10 and weighs 90 pounds. Would you recommend a 29"? moose
The best way to determine the best size for a player is by their height and weight. However, a 10 year old is typically swinging a 29" version of the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10. For more sizing information check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
Is this bat BBCOR Standard? izz
No, the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) is not BBCOR certified. BBCOR certifications require the bat to have a -3 length-to-weight ratio. If you are needing a BBCOR model of the MAKO you will want to look at the BB16MK model.
John
Can this bat be used in a batting cage to break it in? Joe
The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 is pretty hot out of the wrapper and it does not really require a break-in. However, it is still a good idea to take about 50 swings off a tee first. If you hit in the batting cages, make sure it is a cage with standard baseballs. The yellow dimpled cage balls are not ideal for any bat.
Jason
In our mustang pony in Hawaii, the bat is legal except for the term "authorized for pony league" on the bar. I'm not sure what to do if the umpire challenges. Is tho bar authorized for pony league in general? Thank You. George
According to the rules for the Mustang division in Pony League Baseball a bat may feature a 2 1/4-2 5/8 inch barrel diameter, can be no longer than 33 inches and must have a BPF of 1.15 if barrel is 2 1/4 inch in diameter. The small barrel bats (2 1/4") are the bats that must be stamped with "Approved for PONY baseball." All current Youth models are PONY approved. Since this is a Youth Big Barrel bat you do not have to worry about this stamp.
Cameron
Is this bat little league approved for Junior Divison? Gator
The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 is not approved for use in the Little League Junior Division due to it having a composite barrel and not being BBCOR certified (BBCOR bats will be drop 3 and the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 is a drop 10).
Cameron
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth 13-15 year old league? It does have 1.15 BPF markings but no BBCOR .50 certification marking. Greg
Unfortunately, the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 is not approved for play in the 13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth. All composite barrel bats are required to be BBCOR certified.
Jason
What age group in little league could use this bat? Is there a less expensive bat you could suggest for a 10yr old that is 54 inches & 98 pounds? tom
The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 will not be legal for play within any divisions of Little League since it is fully composite and not BBCOR certified. If you are in the Intermediate (50/70) division or above and you wanted to use a composite bat it must be BBCOR certified. I have included a link below to the 2016 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB16MK. http://www.justbats.com/product/2016-easton-mako-bbcor-baseball-bat--bb16mk/22897/

I'm a 13 year old, 5ft, 111lb boy, would you recommend this bat or the 2016 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16S310B, both a 290z bat with a drop of 10? bprewett
Both the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 and the 2016 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16S310B are great bats to consider. The correct decision really is one of personal preference. The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 will be a two-piece bat that is fully composite. This bat will reduce vibration more from off-centered hits, will be more balanced in swing weight feel, better suited for warmer weather and will sound more like a wood bat. The 2016 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16S310B is a one-piece alloy design bat. This bat will hold up better in colder weather and may produce slightly more pop since it will not flex on impact.
Cameron
Does this bat say approved for Dixie Youth? Dan
No, this bat will not say "approved for Dixie Youh". However, it will only be approved for use in the "O"Zone division of Dixie youth league baseball.
Nick
Is this bat composite? sean
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 will feature a two-piece fully composite design.
Nick
My son is starting PONY Mustang next season and has just turned 8 years old and is currently 52 inches tall (4'4") and weighs 62 lbs. Should he be looking at a 28 or 29 inch and is there any advantage to the 2 5/8 barrel vs. a smaller one? Steve
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 28 inch bat. You could always go 29 inch as well if you feel the possible added weight will not cause any issues. As for the benefit of a big barrel bat, this bat will offer a larger sweet spot and should provide more pop for a player compared to a youth barrel bat.
Cameron
My son is 9 ,100 lbs and 5' tall. What size bat would you think? rocky
Based on his height and weight, I would suggest a 30" model in the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10.
Jason
My son is almost 12 years old. He will be playing 13U next year. What size bat should we get (he is 5'3" and 120 lbs)? Bens dad
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) in the 31" length. As long as your player can handle the 21 oz weight of the 31" model, I would recommend that size of this bat.
Ben
My son plays 8u Pony. Is this bat certified for pony league? Rob
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 certified for play in 8u Pony. It features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and has the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification.
Jason
My son is 55 1/2" tall and weighs 65 lbs. Which bat and size would you recommend for him? Liz
For a player of his height and weight, I'd recommend swinging the 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 in the 29" 19 oz. size.
Marcus
Is this bat legal for Illinois high school baseball? greg
This 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) does not feature BBCOR certification and will not be allowed for use in High School baseball as long as NFHS rules are being enforced for the game in which you will be playing.
Ben
Is this bat approved for Little League "juniors" division? Will
The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK10 features a composite barrel and as such would need to be a BBCOR model (-3 length to weight ratio) to be legal for Junior League division; since this bat is a -10 length to weight ratio with a composite barrel it would not be legal for play in Junior League division.
Cameron
Is this bat the same as the 2016 Easton Mako "Power Brigade 2" SL16MK10 Senior League Baseball Bat?Not sure about the Power Brigade 2 name. Tim
Yes, this is the 2016 Easton Mako Senior League -10. Power Brigade 2 was a collective nickname for Easton's entire line of bats that year.
