Description

In the past few years, we've seen the Louisville Slugger LXT take hold of the fastpitch game and become the game-day choice of some of the best players at the Collegiate and Professional levels. Even with that success, the team at Louisville Slugger wasn't satisfied and continued to push the envelope of innovation. The result: the NEW Louisville Slugger LXT PLUS Fastpitch Softball bat! The LXT PLUS and XENO PLUS fastpitch bats share many similarities, but the LXT PLUS offers an even lighter swing weight with its TRU3 Dynamic Socket Connection Technology that allows for slight movement between the barrel and handle to eliminate more sting and vibration that may be created on off-center hits. Less vibration means more of that energy is transferred to the ball on contact for extreme performance. Like many elite players have grown accustomed to seeing in other LXT models, the barrel features the S1iD Inner Disc Barrel Technology with a Zero Friction Double Wall Design. This technology actually allows the barrel to be tuned to exceed the legal ball exit speed ratio. The trick is that a governor is placed inside that allows the barrel to flex to its MAXIMUM allowable performance from SWING 1. The LXT PLUS is made from Louisville Slugger's innovative newest Performance PLUS Composite material. This composite blend is lighter and more durable than previous versions, and with the S1iD Technology, it needs ABSOLUTELY ZERO BREAK-IN! With a tacky synthetic grip a 7/8 inch handle, the LXT PLUS will provide players with absolute control and confidence at the plate. Louisville Slugger: Passion In Your Heart; Power In Your Hands! The LXT PLUS is approved by all major fastpitch softball organizations (ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF). This bat comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty against breakage. First Louisville Bat Clint C coach

Pros: Great balance, lots of initial pop, comfortable feel, good graphics. We normally go with the DeMarini bats but wanted to give this Louisville a try. So far, this bat is every bit as good as any we have ever had, regardless of brand. I really do think it boils down to personal preference and if you are a Louisville fan, this is the bat for you.

Cons: This bat makes a distinct sound upon impact that I'm told, is normal for these Louisville bats. Im skeptical at this point but so far so good.

Great bat out of the plastic!! J player

Pros: I am a college softball player and I have also played competitive travel ball since 12u. Basically, I have tried many different bat brands from DeMarini, Miken, Easton, Rockettech, even the first xeno model, AND THIS IS THE BEST BAT I HAVE EVER USED WITH AMAZING POP RIGHT OUT OF THE WRAPPER. The bat has great balance and control. I highly recommend this bat.

The Pop that wakes the stands Peter parent

Pros: This Bat has been a great asset to my daughters hitting major hits. We went to 12U Western Nationals Gold All Stars when the Bat was only a month old and it did well for a new bat. Now into the Fall Select the performance is outstanding with hits that sail 300 feet with ease. The bat has broken in and the POP sound on a good contact hit is something the crowd wakes up to.

Cons: The material/paint used on the ends by the grip handle chips away easier then I would expect. The bright lime green and white colors show dirt very quickly

Love this bat, But..... mcwilliams94@yahoo.com parent

Pros: My daughter loves this bat. Great pop and feel. This is her 2nd LXT.

Cons: Ive had to send this back 2 times. First time, only 2 weeks after I bought it. 2nd time for the same reason. We've only had this bat since July 2015. The reason for sending it back was because it felt like it was loose and coming apart.

Pros: I didn't want to admit it. My daughter had a teammate's bat and she told me this bat was amazing. I decided to let her have it and her first at bat, literally out of the wrapper she hit a rocket three run homer off the centerfield scoreboard. Ok, so it was the bat.

Cons: My 12 yr old daughter has taken very good care of her bat but has gone through 2 in 15 months with the same problem. Louisville will not replace a bat that was a replacement. I would hope that they would correct this problem because they do not last long.

Best bat Louisville has made for some time Softball Travel Dad parent

Pros: The bat has great pop right out of the wrapper. I feel it is the best bat Louisville has made since the blue and white 2012 model. That bat was hot and I think this one will be a game changer too!

Cons: The paint is chipping after only using it for 3 games. That doesn't affect the durability of the bat, but it'd sure be nice if they could use paint that's more durable.

Horrible Experience Disapointed Dad coach

Pros: weight to length was good. my eleven year is a power hitter and could turn on a 60mph pitch w it.

Cons: we took it straight to the batting cage and within 100 pitches it shattered. thankfully we went early so we could trade it in for a different model before a next day tournament. Im not a bat expert but at the time of failure, I was pitching 10u balls 35mph from 15 feet to an eleven yr old... you decide

Pros: I love the xeno bats, I have had 4 of them, none of them broke except for this one. The bat had some great pop for the first couple of hits. And the graphics are great.

This bat makes a difference! WT Travel Dad parent

Pros: This is a good bat, period. I bought my daughter, who has a good swing, a Mako last season and she could just never get the pop needed out of the bat. She used the LXT in a tournament here in West Texas this past weekend and she went 7 for 9 at the plate. It's been a while since she has even hit over .300. The ball comes off the bat hard and the hits are hot so it's not as easy for the fielders to handle the balls when they are put in play. On another note I can be a little tight with my money, so I purchased a Boombah bat a few weeks before buying the LXT and it is worthless. The Boombah bat will vibrate your kid's hands off! It vibrates as bad as the old aluminum bats we used when I was growing up. My advice is to spend the extra a get a proven, quality bat the first time.

Cons: The paint chips easily.

cheap design Steve parent

Pros: my daughter playing 10u loves this bat. performs very well, its ballanced, swings light and easy, very forgiving large sweet spot, ball really jumps off any part of the barrel.

Cons: waste of time and money. This handle design is so cheap. we have absolutly babied this bat from day one. Only practicing with soft toss wiffle balls and game use only. After 3 games the handle is coming loose at the barrel. What a dissapointment!! After biting the bullet and shelling out the doe, im shocked! At this price point, one should expect a decent level of durability. This stinks!!!!!!!!!

Pros: nice bat, good pop

Cons: bought this bat for my daughter and the bat doesnt last. high school team had three bats crack or start rattle. my daughters bat started cracking at the bottom of the barrel. hers wasnt the only one. when the umps check bats before games the louisville bats are the ones they want to check first for coming unscrewed and for rattle. bought the bat before the season started and only made it about six weeks. shexwas the only one using it and she rotated the bat after each hit. wish the bat could last. one more thing saw one snap in half during a game with the barrel flying down third base line

Great Bat Softballcoach coach

Pros: Hot out of the wrapper. swings great, feels lighter than it actually is. We hit bombs with it in practice. Best bat out there right now. We have moved to strictly swinging the LXT bats on our HS team. Based on 6 yrs of coaching this team, we have moved from the demarini insane and mako to only LXT because of the vast improvement the girls showed after using these bats. We don't have a girl on the team that doesn't use this bat now.

Cons: Only one con, if you can call it a con, this model has a slightly smaller sweet spot and is designed for advanced hitters that can get the barrel through the zone, but what I understand is the new LXT hyper eliminates this issue with double the sweet spot and still the same pop. I wished we had a few more in the ole' bat bag.

Not a cage bat!!! BatRep other

Pros: This bat is made for games, it is not a cage bat or practice bat. I would highly recommend to any one that wants to maintain this bat and not have problems to forgo using it as anything other than what it was made for, which is a game bat. Many girls want to use it for every thing from cage and tee work to BP cause its a great bat to use. Lots of pop. But use the other bats for these purposes and you will have limited problems with this piece of equipment. Like gloves or any other softball tool take care of it and it will take care of you. *And do not use with pitching machines PERIOD!!!

Cons: No cons on this bat it has been durable and has been a great tool to use.

College Softball player- JR G player

Pros: It feels nice and looks nice. I am a 5'2" lefty power hitter, and swung a 34 -9. I have swung this size since I was a sophomore in highschool. The pop of this bat was unbelievable out of wrapper. I had Xenos before this.

Cons: If you want a bat to last a couple of months, then get this one. The Xenos and LXTS are very poorly made. I love the concept of a three piece, but every one I have had snaps at the connecting point. I was very dissapointed when my LXT snapped during batting practice.

It would not be a good thing to remove the S1id disc from the inside of the 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160). The 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX160 is going to feature a balanced swing weight.
John P.
My daughter is 10 years old, 4'8" and about 75 pounds. We are trying to decide between the Louisville Slugger XENO & DeMarini CF8. Any recommendations? hollimcbrayer
Both the 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX160 and the 2016 DeMarini CF8 Fastpitch Softball Bat: DXCFP are great options to consider if you are looking for a two-piece, fully composite fastpitch bat that will feature a balanced swing weight. Both of these bats are highly rated by consumers so it really comes down to your personal preferences as both bats would be excellent selections.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the Easton mako? Kim
Both bats are fully composite and have a balanced swing weight. The 2016 Easton MAKO CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16MK10 has a thinner handle and features a HYPERSKIN grip. The 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX160 has a three-piece construction while the 2016 Easton MAKO CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP16MK10 has a two-piece construction.
Angelique
What is difference between 2015 and 2016 models? jeremy
This 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) will differ from the 2015 LXT as the 2016 model has updated Performance Plus composite material on it and also has a new Zero Friction Double Wall Design to create maximum barrel flex. As well, this 2016 bat will also have updated cosmetics.
Ben
How does this bat compare to the DeMarini CF8 or CF7? softball dad
This 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) will be very similar to the CF8 and CF7 models as all bats have the two-piece, all-composite design with vibration reducing technology. As well, all bats receive high remarks in regard to performance.
Ben
I read on the reviews that this bat has a lot of flex. What does this mean? Will its feel differ from a CF8? CoachFrank23
This 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) features flex because it has a two-piece design that will cause the barrel to flex back at contact and then flex back forward as the ball exits from the barrel. Typically all two-piece bats will feature some sort of flex while hitting a ball, but it is very possible that the CF8 could feature slightly less flex and thus feel a little more like a single-piece bat.
Ben
My daughter is 11 years old, about 5 feet 2 inches and weighs about 110 pounds. Will this be a good bat and if so what size is the recommended one? Dodgers
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend going with a 32" option of a fastpitch softball bat. If your player can handle the 22 oz weight of the 32" option of this 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160), then I would recommend going with this bat in that size.
Ben
What does the "Plus" represent in the name of this bat? patti
This 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) includes "Plus" in its name because in employs a new Performance PLUS composite material in it. The performance PLUS material is an update from the composite material used in the 2015 model of the LXT.
Ben
Between the LXT Plus and the XENO Plus, which one has more pop to it and which one would you recommend for a high school player? patti
I would recommend both the 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX160 and the XENO Plus for a high school player as they are excellent, high quality fastpitch softball bats. As far as which one has more pop, the answer to your question is going to be subjective depending upon who you ask but both models are very highly reviewed in the pop category.
John P.
Aside from the LXT being a three-piece and the XENO being a two-piece, what is the difference between these two bats? catcar1622
The 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX160 will feature the TRU3 Explosive Power Transfer Technology that is said to offer a lighter swing weight and reduce vibration while the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160 will not.
John P.
My daughter is 5'2 and 120 pounds. She swings a 32 / 22 now with ease. Do you think a 33 / 23 would be too much? sean
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX160.

My daughter is 4'10" and weighs 75 lbs. She is a 9yr old and plays 10U travel ball. She is coming from a CF6 in the 28"/17 oz size. What size would you recommend? CLR
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of going with a 31" model of this 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160). As long as she can handle the 21 oz weight of the 31" model of this bat, that size should be be alright for her. However, if you are more comfortable with a move to the slightly smaller 30"/20 oz model, that size option would allow her to make less of a jump in length and weight from her old model.
Ben

Cameron
Is there a break in period? Can they be used in the batting cages? Also, is there any kind of warranty? chris
Yes, the 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) will require around 100-150 swings off a tee or soft toss to fully break-in the composite fibers. Make sure you rotate the bat around a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to break-in all composite fibers throughout the barrel. We do not recommend using this bat in the batting cage unless it is with a regular softball. The yellow dimpled cage balls will be heavier than a regular softball which can cause more stress on the barrel. The LXT Plus features a 12 month manufacturers warranty through Louisville Slugger.
John
we just bought the lxt 33/23. we have hit 165 balls so far. when can she go into the cages and hit the dimple balls. or can she never hit those balls. please advise. thank you. Mike
Here at JustBats.com, we do not recommend using those dimple balls that are often used at the batting cages. These balls are more dense than a regular baseball and really increase the chances of your bat becoming defective.

This 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) features some upgrades when compared to the 2015 LXT model. The two biggest upgrades on the 2016 model are the new Performance Plus Composite and the Zero Friction Double Wall Design that allows for maximum barrel flex. The sweet spot on this 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) will be located on the barrel of the bat. I have a new 2016 Lxt. we have had it for a month. Should the handle twist a little where it meets the barrel? 3 lxt's at a tourney all do a little. thanks!! Insanity coach
Yes, the TRU3 Dynamic Socket Connection technology allows for slight movement between the barrel and handle to maximize barrel trampoline effect and to help eliminate negative vibration.
Nick
I'm a power hitter and I am trying to decide between the XENO Plus and LXT Plus. Is there a major difference between the XENO Plus and the LXT Plus? mich21
The difference that will exist between this 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) and the XENO Plus is that this LXT features the TRU3 design which features a vibration dampening connection point to limit the vibration that gets to a player's hands on a miss-hit. Besides the TRU 3 design and the cosmetics, the two bats will be pretty much the same as they feature the same composite material and both have a balanced weighting.
Ben

What does it mean when a bat loses its "pop"? maddy
When someone says that a bat like this 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) [or any bat], loses its "pop", they are saying that the bat is no longer performing at the high level the customer expects out of the bat. Oftentimes, if this characteristic is noted within 12 months from the purchase date of the bat, you can generally set up a warranty claim with the manufacturer and get set up to return your original bat and get a replacement.
Ben

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
