Pros: My 9 year old grandson just moved up from a 28-18 bat to the SLS7160 30-20 and is absolutely crushing the ball. The TRU3 technology really works well, NO sting or vibration. He is hitting the ball further than he ever has before, thank you Louisville Slugger, you came through once again.
Cons: To me, the price is always going to be to high, but seeing my grandson hit with much more confidence, makes it worth the price.
Pros: My son is 10 years old and has been playing travel ball for two years. He hits for power and this bat fits perfect for his hitting style. Extreme pop and great feel. I like the two piece design, if the player hits the ball on the handle the bat gives immediate feed back because it will sound dead. If he hits the aluminum barrel solid the aluminum will sound off.
Cons: I gave the bat 3 stars on durability just because I have never owned a LS bat. Not sure what to expect.
Pros: My son loved it from thr first swing. Lots of pop out of the box.
Cons: None so far
Pros: I have a 12 yr old that uses a 31/21. He loves it. He says it has little vibration and i can see it has great pop. He loves the slight end load of this bat. I am happy we made the purchase and i know my son is glad we bought it for him.
Cons: None so far
Pros: My 12 year old loves this bat he said this bat is way better then his two other name brand bats he had before and I try the bat it is balance it helps you go threw the swinging zone nice and smooth the hands you don't feel the barrel dropping, I am the dad I swing some good bats but until now this one is great and the price too.
Cons: nothing
Pros: Lizzard skin grips on a elite bat & I found the size my son needed on sale. I have a 916 2 3/4 & a 716 2 5/8 and to be honest I can't really tell the difference when watching my son hit. If you center a meatball up on the sweet spot with either one then look out, (you better have your glove ready). I have two sons, and I coach three teams. I have seen about every bat in the Youth big barrel & Senior league class from Marucci to Rawlings, Combat to Demarini, and Louisville Slugger to Easton. Every manufacture has similar bats, in similar materials and price points. Some come out of the wrapper hot and others need some time to break in. Just like some people prefer Chevy to Ford, I prefer Louisville Slugger over Easton.
Cons: These things are expensive. I have never had a single issue with a composite, or alloy bat from Louisville Slugger or Demarini for that matter. If you spend the money on these bats you need your child to take care of them. Do not use them in batting cages with cage balls. Do not use them if the temperature is under 55 degrees. If they are seeing pitch speeds over 40 mph you need to buy the Senior league bat.

About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
