Great Bat Erwin Rivera player

Pros: The bat feels great right out of the wrapper. We hit a mix of balls in the ball exit speed was great. The bat looks, sounds, and perform better than anything I have swung. After the first 50 swings, I am sure it has opened up and is game ready. The grit blast finish was a great addition and ball spin is noticeable when you slice the ball. I feel no wobble in the handle and that bat swings awesome. When you mishit it, you can tell either near the handle or at the end of the barrel near the end cap, but the sweet spot is massive and we barely mishit balls. I feel it is an improvement at this time to prior z series bats, Only time will tell. I also like the tapered grip at the end since I like to grip over the knob. Louisville really took the time to give us players what we want and look for in a bat. Also, at the cages, the ladies next to us in the batting cages even asked us what bat we were swinging and were upset that there are no women's bats that look as nice as this new z4000.

Cons: I am not a fan of the white rubber endcap cover and white knob, if you drop the bat it shows in the white parts of the bat, scratches easily. Other than that, I feel there are no flaws to this bat at this time and I am sure Louisville will take care of their customers with the warranty they offer for this new z4000.

awsome bat A Tapia player

Pros: very little break in time. Sounds, feels good.

Cons: Got my first one in beginning of year. Bp in 63 degree weather about 100 hits broke. Second one used in 1 tourny and bp the following week broke. Not very durable for me.

Cracked Barrel before 100 swings Stephen player

Pros: Can't complain about the pop this bat offers, seems to have broken in right off the bat after opening it as we performed fairly well as a team with it. The 3 piece is definitely a nice touch and you can feel the difference for the better.

Cons: Cracked right in the middle of the barrel, maybe it broke-in too fast, didn't play in any rough conditions either so I remain skeptical.

Best bat I've ever used, hands down. David Streett player

Pros: I ordered this bat in March 2015 and have used it in at least 4 games a week for the last 7 months. It was incredibly hot out of the wrapper and is still performing! The ball absolutely jumps off this bat! I've played softball for over 10 years and I've never swung a bat with this type of pop. Line-drives are rockets and Homeruns are bombs! People don't want to get in front of balls hit off of this bat. And it sounds fantastic! I haven't had any of the problems that some others have experienced and I would absolutely recommend this bat to others. My teams have every type of Z and this is the bat that most people take to the plate.

Cons: Everyone wants to use it!

Great bat! Arielle P.S. player

Pros: LOVE this bat! The break in period was very short. Bat feels great, sweet spot it large, and the ball explodes off the bat. I normally put Lizard Skin on my bats but didn't have to with this one because the stock grip was great. The sand paper barrel was an interesting change and I don't notice much difference. Overall feel is great.

Cons: None. Some people say the durability but I haven't had that issue.

The 2016 Louisville Slugger Z-4000 Balanced USSSA Slow pitch Softball Bat (SBZ416U-B) is not approved for play in the ASA. It is only approved for play in the USSSA, NSA and ISA. If you were looking for the Z-4000 model approved for both USSSA and ASA, I would recommend the 2016 Louisville Slugger Z-4000 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow pitch Softball Bat (SBZ416A-B) which will carry the dual stamps necessary for play in the ASA and USSSA.

What is the difference between the Z-3000 Balanced bat and the Z-4000 balanced bat, if any? big ryan
While both are great composite bats, the main difference between the 2016 Louisville Slugger Z-4000 Balanced USSSA Slow pitch Softball Bat (SBZ416U-B) and the Z-3000 (SBZ314-UB) is the Z-3000 has the SWING 1 inner Disc (S1iD) Technology that allows for hot out of the wrapper performance like an alloy bat. Composite bats would normally require break-in.

What is the difference between the USSSA only version to the ASA/USSSA version besides the stamps? Does one have more pop then the other? Tbombs
The 2016 Louisville Slugger Z-4000 Balanced USSSA Slow pitch Softball Bat (SBZ416U-B) will have slightly different cosmetics and color scheme than the 2016 Louisville Slugger Z-4000 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow pitch Softball Bat (SBZ416A-B).

Would the ASA/USSSA/NSA or USSSA/NSA only Z4000 be better for hitting the 52/275 ball NSA is now using? Eric
I have heard that the .52 cor balls are better hit by all of the newly manufactured bats these days. The 2016 Louisville Slugger Z-4000 Balanced USSSA Slow pitch Softball Bat (SBZ416U-B) would hit it very well. Also, the durability will stay very high as well. These new bats will not hold up best versus the older .44 cor balls. They are too hard and can easily damage the newly made bats.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
