Miken has returned to my bag... Jeff (Player/Manager) other

Pros: Great stick out of the box and keeps getting better each week. Use Trump Evil Balls (.52/300) with this stick and the park isn't big enough. First night out of the box with new balls and mid 60 temps, I was hitting 300-315' shots. After 3 weeks of use (~30 hits) balls are going 330-350' in mid 70s to low 80s temperatures. Only downfalls are I play on 280' fields and in 2 HR per team/game league so it goes back in the bag early most nights. With any end-loaded bat, you need to know how to hit it other wise you are hitting can of corn pop flies due to end drop.

Cons: Bat seems to be dead when using a ball that has been hit a few times...

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: 52FKBA? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm a big guy and I swing a 30 oz bat. What is the difference between the Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slowpitch Bat 52FKBA and the Miken Freak 52? Which one would suit me better? D
The 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKBA) is a one-piece full composite bat with a balanced swing weight. It is ASA approved and features a 14.5 inch barrel. The 2016 Miken Freak 52 SuperMax ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKMA) is a one-piece full composite bat with an endloaded swing weight. It is also ASA approved and features the 14.5 inch barrel. The bats will be virtually identical other than the swing weight. Typically, for a strong player such as yourself, we would recommend the endloaded model.

How will this bat perform with the .44 core 375 compression type ball? I've emailed my league and they are using these balls, not the .52 balls. I have this Miken on order and should be here Monday. Should I stick with it or think of another bat? Chief
The 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKBA) will be a bat designed to specifically hit the .52 core ball well. It will still hit the harder .44 core ball well, but the durability of the bat will not hold up as long. The best bats to hit the .44 core balls are the much older models from 2011-2012. All of the newer bat models seem to be made to hit and hold up with the .52 core ball.

Which bat would you recommend for 18 year old girl's slow pitch? pete
Since it is balanced, the 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKBA) would potentially be a good option. Lighter models like the DeMarini Mercy Slow Pitch Softball Bat (DXMSP) would also be a good option to look into.
Patrick
Can this bat be used with .44 COR softballs? Brian
The 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKBA) is designed for the .52 COR balls. Unfortunately, it may be more susceptible to cracks or dents if it is used with the .44 COR balls.

What is the BPF for the 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced slow pitch bat and for the 2016 Miken Freak 52 Maxload slow pitch bat? Bill
ASA regulations are not based on a BPF scale. USSSA bats are the ones that list a BPF rating. The 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKBA) is not tested or regulated that same way so it does not list that info.
Patrick
What bat would you recommend for a 375 .44 core? fullswingbunt
New ASA bats like the 2016 Miken Freak 52 Balanced ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (52FKBA) are intended for the newer regulation .52 core balls. The .44 core balls are harder and they can damage these new bats. One bat that we have seen hold up a bit better is the 2015 DeMarini Flipper Aftermath ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (DXFLS).

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
