Good Bat Josh parent

Pros: Balanced, feels lighter than it really is, nice pop. My son plays for a team that has been sponsored by Miken and they supplied the team with these bats. He was using a DeMarini cf6 and he says he likes the way the Miken Freak feels when he swings. My son is 10 and swings the 30/18 and absolutely loves it. I was a little skeptical at first but I'm happy with my sons performance with the Freak.

Cons: Overall nothing major. Son said it has some sting in the hands when he gets jammed and being a composite bat it is going to require about 200 hits to break in.

Questions and Answers

Is there any feedback on this bat yet? We have been using the Easton Mako Youth -12. It is pretty hot. We want to stay with a -12 but need a longer bat. stevo
The only -12 version of the Easton Mako that was made was the 2015 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB15MKB). The Youth model (YB14MK) was a -11. So far there has been limited review of the 2016 Miken Freak Black Senior League Baseball Bat (SFKB112) but the design looks promising and it is expected to be comparable to other high end two-piece composites.

Would you recommend this bat for an 11 year old baseball player? Matt
The 2016 Miken Freak Black Senior League Baseball Bat (SFKB112) features a two-piece composite design. Additionally, the triple matrix core does allow for increased performance and durability. It does offer a 2 3/4" barrel, which is not allowed in some leagues.

Is the barrel length on this bat as long as the MAKO? I've noticed the COMBATS are a lot shorter then most. Is the kind of composite barrel the same as many bats on the market? Would be nice to have some feed back on pop and durability on this. Be a shot in the dark for $270. Sorry for all the questions. I'm a dad without a lot of cash. pop
The 2016 Miken Freak Black Senior League Baseball Bat (SFKB112) will have a normal barrel length. The Easton MAKO, XL-Series, and DeMarini Voodoo should all have a longer barrel length. The composite on this bat will perform very highly and rival composites like the Easton MAKO, S1, or DeMarini CF7. The durability on this new bat will be very good and also it will feel very balanced in swing weight.

Is this USSSA approved? I don't see the stamp. Billy Bo
The 2016 Miken Freak Black Senior League Baseball Bat (SFKB112) is approved for USSSA play and is 1.15 BPF certified. The stamp is on the barrel.

How does this bat compare to the MAKO SL14MKB? Baseball Dad
This 2016 Miken Freak Black Senior League Baseball Bat (SFKB112) has a similar two-piece, all-composite design like the SL14MKB. However, this SFKB112 is a -12 model where the SL14MKB was a -10 model.

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
