Axe Handle Scientifically Proven Benefits
Better Bat Control - High-speed video reveals a "hammering" motion from the traditional round knob. The Axe handle stabilizes the grip, increasing barrel control.
More Power & Bat Speed - Range of motion is increased and tension is reduced in the hands, resulting in greater power transfer and more bat speed.
Enhanced Comfort - The Axe handle is ergonomically designed to fit naturally in the contour of your hand.
Reduces Injuries - Traditional handles put tremendous pressure on a single point of the hand, which contains the commonly broken Hamate bone. The flush backside of the AXE handle relieves this pressure.

8 out of 10 Kishawn player

Pros: This bat is very durable, has moderate pop, and looks VERY good. I have swung with this bat and hit the ball 100% wrong, and I didn't hear any cracks.

Cons: This bat is VERY top-heavy. I know it's a -5 (24 oz.), but it feels heavier than my 26 oz.

Great Bat for the Money! Steve R parent

Pros: Axe handle makes for a great swing. GREAT pop, better then a normal wood bat. My son uses a Marucci Hex in league play but in a wood bat tournament used the 2017 AXE Hardwood Composite -5 Youth Baseball Bat: L116E and was crushing the bat just like the Hex bat. Would buy again!

Cons: I put a grip on the bat to help with sting and grip for my 8 year old. The paint before game use is Awesome. After a weekend tournament bat end is all chipped up and looks bad.

Bought for tee work David Bruggeman Coach

Pros: As most 13u players struggle moving from a drop 10 to drop 5 I purchased this bat for my son to work with off the tee. It is 3 oz heavier than his regular bat and we are using it to build strength and bat speed. He likes the grip and unique knob design. He's been able to hit 300-400 balls per tee session daily.

Cons: NA

Bat broke after 2 games and 5 hits. James Mathis. Parent

Pros: Nice bat, comfortable, very nice swing.

Chopping 'em down Georgia Coach

Pros: My son loves this bat! He loves how it feels in his hands and how well he can control his swing! I'm going to have to purchase one of the metal and/or composite bats for him also.

Cons: The lacquer finish leaves something to be desired and the pop just is not there like his gets from his other bats. However, we purchased a -5 and it might just be too heavy for him. He is 10 yrs old, 120 lbs and been playing since tee ball, so I felt confident that he could swing a -5 with confidence, but the weight just throws him off a little. Nothing to hold against this awesome bat though!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the AXE Hardwood Composite -5 Youth Baseball Bat: L116E? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this bat good for practice when using a pitching machine with the yellow knobie/ slightly heavier balls? eli' s gp
The yellow dimple balls actually have a heavier weight consistency to them and are not the best for any bat over an extended period of time. A bat like the 2017 AXE Hardwood Composite -5 Youth Baseball Bat: L116E is more likely to break on off-centered hits due to the balls being heavier but can certainly be used for the yellow dimple balls.

About the Brand

Launched by Baden Sports in 2011, the Axe line of bats was hailed as a breakthrough in bat technology by players and coaches from youth leagues to the Pros. The makers of the Axe line of bats often pose the question, "What does your traditional knob do for you?" Most players don't have a good answer. Axe engineers have created a handle that is not only more comfortable and safer in terms of hand injuries, but also helps improve the hitter's swing by keeping them on an even plane. Although Axe is new to the market, they are backed by Baden Sports, Inc., an independent, family-owned company that has been making baseball products since 1979. Their passion to create a better game is unparalleled, making it no surprise that the Axe handle is set to be baseball's next big thing.
