Besides color and name, what is the difference between this bat and the 2017 Shipman FP7TC112? They appear to be the same, sans color and name. But the 40% longer sweet spot language is not prevalent in the Shipman description. Coach Sean
The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7MX110 is a drop 10, whereas the 2017 COMBAT Madison Shipman -12 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7TC112 is a drop 12. The COMBAT MAXUM is made of a slightly different composite material which allows it to have a longer barrel and in turn, a slightly larger sweet spot. Both bats have great performance levels.

This 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP7MX110) will not technically be listed as a double-wall bat. Typically, composite bats are not listed as single-wall and double-wall (that listing is usually reserved for slowpitch alloy bats). However, you could refer to this bat as a multi-layered bat since the barrel is comprised of multiple layers of composite material being placed on top of each other.

Ideally, two-piece bats are great options to consider as they will reduce vibration from off-centered hits. I've been shopping for a bat for my 12u twins to share. They both have very fast hands and have used the Easton fs1 and the Louisville LXT this past season. How does this bat compare? Prof
The Maxum will be Combat's top model they have on the market. It will have an extended barrel similar to the LXT model. Performance wise it will be similar to their LXT and FS1. The difference is that the Maxum is a one-piece all composite design while the FS1 and the LXT will be two-piece designs.

My daughter is moving up to 10u this year. She's 4'6" and weighs 97 lbs. I was looking at this bat and the Easton FS3. Which one would be better for her and what length and weight should she get? Jeremy
The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7MX110 is a one-piece bat so it will have a stiffer feel than the Easton FS3 which is a two-piece bat. A two-piece will offer more flex and will be better suited for a contact hitter than a one-piece bat. The correct weight is going to be dependent on what she has used in the past and what weight she feels comfortable swinging based on her strength. The correct length for her base on her height and weight is 31''.

The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7MX110 does not require a break in period but some players tend to feel about 50-100 pitches seems to give the bat a little better pop.

Unfortunately the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7MX110 is out of stock and no longer being made. At this point it would be near impossible to find another one of these bats. Something comparable would be the 2018 Mizuno Silhouette -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP18SHT10 as this is also a one-piece all composite bat.
