Description

New from DeMarini for The DeMarini Voodoo series has been a constant in baseball bat bags across the nation since its release. This year, DeMarini has made it so that more players can use one of the top hybrid construction baseball bats on the market. They've taken the famous end loaded version that power hitters have come to love, now called the Voodoo Insane, and have added a balanced option, named the Voodoo. With the all new X14 alloy, this beast of a bat is hotter than ever. The X14 alloy has been upgraded for enhanced variable wall thickness which allows DeMarini to distribute the weight in different ways to provide more pop and two different feels. Additionally, it optimizes KSI yield strength for maximum performance day in and day out. As with other DeMarini bats, the D-Fusion 2.0 handle will allow you to get more boom out of every swing by redirecting negative vibration back into the barrel. On the other end, the low pro end cap optimizes the swing weight and provides the ultimate sound and feel through the barrel during every at bat. DeMarini: Power Of Choice!

This DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 features a -5 length to weight ratio, a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. Furthermore, this baseball bat offers a balanced swing weight and is covered by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Coach/ Dad Sparkya1 coach

Pros: Great overall feel, the best bat on the market for Little League intermediate and juniors...Bats have to be an aluminum barrel bat unless they are BBCOR (no 100% composite). so with the composite handle the bat is a great compromise.

Cons: The only complaint is the 32" drop 5 should be 27 oz. but it actually weighs 28oz plus so it's actually an drop 4 but when I contacted DeMarini they said it was "within the standards"

Disappointment Demarini No More parent

Pros: i can only see 2. 1. justbats.com always ships quickly, yes that has nothing to do with the bat but its one of the only possitive things i can say at this point. 2. Durabilty, this bat will probably last forever because after a few more swings we will probably give up on this piece of junk and it will become one of the accessories in my sons bat bag.

Cons: 1. NO POP AT ALL!!! We have CF5 with a 3 inch long crack that still hits the ball 50 - 75 foot further than this bat with each swing. 2. Terrible vibraton if not hit on barrel. 3. Could have spent much less and got a bat of this quality. Sad to say but we have probably bought our last Demarini as I am not spending $450 on a youth baseball bat. This bat was ordered yesterday, got it today in the mail and took it out for some BP. After about 100 swings it is pretty obvious that we wont see many kids using this bat in the 2017 baseball season unless it is in rec ball.

Pros: Has a nice sound to it. When you hit the ball you don't feel the ball hitting the bat. It looks good too.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm trying to decide which bat I should get for this upcoming season. It's up in the air between this bat and the Voodoo RAW -5 because the raw is end-loaded. About how much weight difference will it be compared to this bat? Buyer
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5) and the VooDoo Raw are going to be similar bats minus the End Load. And what the weight difference would be would depend on what version you got (-10, -8, -5). If the bats weighed the same they would weigh the same. The difference would be where the weight is distributed. The End Loaded version would feel a tad heavier due to more weight at the top of the bat.
Carter
I'm 5'6" and 170 lbs. I'm trying to see if I should get this bat or the CF Zen -5 in a 32"/27 oz? Cam Bam Baby
Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend possibly looking to a 33"/28 oz bat if you feel that you can handle that size. If you would like a hybrid build (alloy barrel and composite handle) then I would recommend this 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5). If you like more of the all-composite build, take a look at the CF Zen.
Ben
Is this a good dinger bat? Dinger slammer
This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5) has a two-piece, hybrid design (alloy barrel and composite handle) and many players would be able to display the necessary power to hit dingers with this bat.
Ben
Will the -5 model have the tapered bat grip? Jake
Yes, this 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5) will feature a tapered grip.
Ben
My son is 13 years old and weighs 108 pounds. Would you recommend the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo drop 5 or the DeMarini CF Zen 2017 drop 5? myles
Both the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 and the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCB5 are both great bats to consider. The main difference is the CF Zen will be fully composite while the Voodoo will be a hybrid with the composite handle and the alloy barrel. Both are two-piece bats with balanced swing weight designs. Composite barrel bats are typically better in warmer weather while the alloy holds up better in colder weather.
Cameron
So do they no longer offer this bat in end-loaded form? My son had the 2015 Overlord version in a -7.5 and loved the end-load. Now we are looking for a -5 Voodoo end-load version again, but I seem to only see balance styles. Endload
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 is DeMarini's new hybrid design with a balanced swing weight. At this time, DeMarini does not offer an end-loaded -5 model in their 2017 lineup.
Cameron
How does the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo compare to the other drop 5 bats (Omaha 517, Prime 917 , CF Zen, and CAT 7)? Bill Barnett
This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5) is a hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) with a balanced swing feel to it. That will make it different than all the other bats listed. The Omaha 517 and and CAT 7 will be one-piece, all-alloy bats with balanced swing weights. The Prime 917 and CF Zen will be two-piece, all-composite bats with balanced swing weights.
Ben
Would you recommend a 30 inch or a 31 inch for me? I'm 5'0 and weigh 105 lbs. collin
Based on your height and weight, I would suggest the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 in the 30" 25oz. size.
Logan
Is this bat approved for U13 Pony League Baseball? Jen
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 is approved for use in 13U Pony League Baseball.
Cameron
How does the new Voodoo compare to the last years CF8? Todd
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5) is going to feature a two piece Hybrid design. This means that it will have a composite handle and an aluminum barrel. This differs from last years DeMarini CF8 Senior League Baseball Bat in that it was a 2 piece fully composite design, so both piece were composite. The CF8 will need to be broken in, as all composite bats are. While the Voodoo will not have to be broken in, and will feature a more tradition "ping" that alloy bats feature.
Carter
I'm considering this bat for my son. He is 13 yrs old, 5'1" and 95 lbs. He'll be playing 14U this year with a -5 requirement. Wondering what size bat you recommend and whether you have any other bat recommendations. He has slower swing speed so I'm leaning more towards a balanced weight distribution. Chris
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 in a 31" 26oz. size. the Voodoo does feature a balanced swing weight, so it should work well for your son.
Logan
My son is 13. Almost 14 years old, 6ft and 145 lbs. What size 2017 Voodoo would you recommend? mark
I would recommend looking into this 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVB5) in a 32" or 33" length depending upon which subsequent weight you feel will best suit him!
Ben
is this a bbcore bat justin
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 is not a BBCOR bat. It features certification from USSSA and a BPF of 1.15.
Logan
Other than the two piece hybrid design of the Voodoo in comparison to the Cat 7 which bat will have more pop and which uses better Alloy as far as durability? D. King
Typically, power style hitters prefer the one piece design of the Cat 7, whereas contact hitters typically prefer the two piece design of the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 since they feel like they can generate more bat head speed with the slight flex at the connection point. The performance and durability of each bat will be very similar.
Logan
Does this bat conform to the new bat standards for 2018? David
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 will not feature the USA bat stamp required for USA baseball in January 2018.
Max
How does this bat compare to the 2018 version? Are they the same bat with just a different paint scheme? That Dad!
The difference between the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVB5 and the 2018 DeMarini Voodoo -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXVB5 is the new 3Fusion end cap which optimizes weight, control, & overall durability. Another new feature is the 3Fusion handle technology to help reduce sting & transfer energy back into barrel.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
