Cons: White grip gets dirty easily but it gives the bat a sleek look. Very daring to go white.

Pros: So far the best bbcor certified bat that i have used. Also "slugger45" you can not compare this bat to old Combats, because they were not bbcor certified, and bbcor bats are intentionally made not as good, because the certification says it is safe to use in a game.

Cons: none so far

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR Baseball Bat: 52CALAB1? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this bat balanced like the B1 (-12) or is it a top-load model like the B1 (-10)? My grandson is a gap to gap hitter, small in statue. aloha from Hawaii, Steve coach steve
Well, it's hard to compare this adult bat to a youth bat, but we have noticed that the 52CALAB1 does feel slightly end-loaded.
Mark
Is the combat 52 caliber legal for high school play with new bat restrictions for2012? Slim
Yes, this bat is BBCOR certified so it is approved to be used in 2012.
Brett
what is the difference from the 52 caliber to the b3 what is the quallity diiference between them? woody
The B3AB1 features a technology called Membrane Modal Control which allows the composite to maintain the highest performance standards allowed for the entire lifespan of the bat, making it on of the better performing BBCOR bats. The 52 Caliber does not feature this technology, but will still be a high performing BBCOR bat.
JH
What is the difference between the Combat B3 and this bat? Gooey
The difference is going to be the composite used in each bat and the technology. The B3AB1 will use the newest technology and composite that is out on the market. Both are very good bats and at the upper level of BBCOR bats that are on the market.
Brett
Is this bat really 100% composite? Ken
Yes. This is 100% composite.
JH
I'm an upcoming freshman in Orange County and I'm wondering which bat, B3 or 52, is better. There is not really any video of anyone using it yet so I want to know which is better overall #23
They both are going to be very good bats. The B3AB1 is a bat that uses the newest Membrane Modal control and the 52CALAB1 uses the newest Localized Stiffening Technology. You can not go wrong with either bat. These are both going to be towards the top end of the BBCOR bats.
Brett
How many seasons do you think I can get out of this bat? KJF
A lot of variables go into that. If you; a) Put it through a good break-in period, b) limit it's use to games only, c) limit the number of teammates who use the bat and d) limit its use in temperatures colder than 60 degrees, you should be able to get at least 2 seasons out of it. It's also covered under a 1 year warranty, so COMBAT will replace it if it breaks within a year.
John
Would this be a good bat for a power hitter? ask0805
Yes. This is a stiff, one-piece bat that would be great for a power hitter.
Josh
Compared to the B3, does the 52 Caliber appear to swing lighter or heavier? Is either more end-heavy? We are looking at the 31" -3 for an average sized 12-year-old to begin using on 60-90 fields. BK
They both swing a little lighter then there weights. The B3 is going to have a little more pop. Neither one of these bats are going to be end loaded.
TOdd
ive always been a hitter to just hit the ball were defenders werent and my coaches asked me to start driving the ball for gappers and homeruns more. would you recomend this bat or more along the easton surge? trojanman1
Both are great options, if you are looking to add a little bit of power I would look at the COMBAT 52 caliber, it should be a stiffer feeling bat which is geared towards power hitters
Sean
which is more like the b2ab1 red stiff 32/29 from team express? dave
The new B4 from COMBAT will be a little closer in comparison to the B2AB1 than the 52 Caliber.
John
Either one, the 52 Caliber or the B3AB1 will give you the feel you are looking for.
lkh
Does this bat have the same shape and feel of the Miken Heat? i'll-ask-the-questions
It's a little hard to compare two bats like that from different manufacturers and from different years of production. They'll be similar in the fact that they are both one-piece composite bats. The 52 Caliber will have a little more of an end-loaded feel than the old Miken Heat.
John
which would be better for a contact hitter, a 52 caliber or the marucci cat5 Jake
both bats would be great options for a contact hitter. The 52 caliber is going to be a composite design where as the cat 5 is an all alloy bat
Sean
When would it be too cold to use this and what would the lowest tempature for game use? Hammett35
It is recommended that composite bats like the 52 Caliber not be used when the temperature is below 55 degrees or so. If you're going to be playing frequently when it's below 55 degrees out, I would recommend using a different bat of the same size in practice to decrease the likelyhood of damaging your game bat.
TJ
I am 5 foot 1 inch 7th grader who has to use bbcor for the first time.I am expected to grow 6 foot. But I want a bat that I can use through middle school and high school. What size bat should I get? Bball
I would suggest a 31 inch 28 oz bat.
Kara
Trying to decide between the Caliber, the Z-1000, and the Marucci Black. I've heard good things about all three. Have used the -12 B2 and BESR Exogrid & Triton with success. Which do you recommend for a line drive hitter? oldman
Personally, I like the 52 Caliber. Love the pop, balance and huge sweet spot!
Linda
What are the consequences of not breaking in a composite bat like this one? Hammey35
It won't perform to it's fullest capacity. It will have a dull feel.
Linda
What is the break in period for this bat. I love my B1 both big and traditional barrel. I am 5'6 8th grader and hit liners and deep HRs, can you recommend a size and weight as I get ready to play HS ball in fall 2012. Thanks Anthony
The break in is done by hitting 100-200 hits off a tee or doing soft toss. A good size bat for that age will be a 32-33" bat.
KG
Is the bat full composite? brick
Yes. It is a one piece composite bat.
Kara
Between this, the S3, and Cat 5... which has the best pop and best performance? If you have swung with these, what is your personal preference. JHigh
All three of these bats will be very good options. We have heard great things about the S3, Cat 5 and the COMBAT bats. The S3 and Cat 5 are all alloy bats and the COMBAT is an all composite bat.
KG
do composite bats perform better than alloy and half/half? what would you prefer for a 180 lb 6"3 powerful contact hitter? JJJ
Composite barrel bats generally will outperform alloy barrel bats once they are broken in.
John
xl3 or this? Zach
It will really depend on if you want an end loaded or balanced bat. The 52 is balanced and the XL3 is end loaded.
Kara
hey what hits better the combat 52 caliber bbcor or the marucci cat 5 bbcor ballcrusher
These two bats differ a bit in construction but are both top tier products with their perspective manufacturers. For any more information please contact the Justbats.com customer service at 1-866-321-2287.
Shelbe
Does this bat have a lot of sting when the ball isn't hit on the sweet spot? Slugga609
No. At least I didn't feel any when I hit with it and I haven't heard a ton of feedback from customers saying it stings.
Tyler
Which bat will have better pop? This, the 2011 Voodoo or the Easton Rival? Also which bat will be the most balanced? cbreeze12345
It kind of depends on the hitter. The 52 Caliber is great for power hitters. The Voodoo works very well for contact/gap hitters. The Rival is great for hitters of all types. The Rival will probably be the most balanced out of the bunch.
Tyler
How does this bat compare to the combat B3? Bobby
The COMBAT 52 Caliber and the COMBAT B3 are going to be very similar. The main difference according to COMBAT is going to be that the B3 has a slightly bigger sweet spot.
Robb
Other web sellers have the 52 Caliber new with a black grip. Is there a difference in the bat, black vs. white grip? Daddio
There is not a difference between the two bats.
KB
My Grandson is 14,6-1 170lbs. What size bat do you recommend? He's a freshmen and likes the Combat 52 Caliber. He has been hitting a 33-30oz in practice. TERRY
Based on your grandson's height and weight, it look like the 33 inch would be a perfect size for him. If you need any further help in trying to select the right bat size for him, feel free to use our bat coach feature located on our website or give us a call at 1-866-321-2287!
Jennifer
My son is 13, 5'11" and 129 pounds. Never used a 3 drop before and will have to next year in high school. What would be a good size for him to make the transition? He was using a 32/22 before. bob
If your son doesn't have to use a -3 oz. BBCOR bat until next year, it may be a good idea for him to start swinging a Senior League bat in a -5 oz. drop. Your son will then only have to adjust to a 2 ounce difference next year instead of making the huge leap from -10 to -3. Based off of his height and weight, the suggested length for your son is a 31" bat.
Austin
Is this a legal bat for high school? Ozzy5
Yes, the 51CALAB1 is going to be legal for high school.
Sean
Whats the differnece between this bat and the COMbat B3 AB BBCOR: B3AB1 Adult? panda express
The B3 is made from slightly higher quality composite materials and will have a little more pop because of this.
Tyler
Is this bat top heavy at all and how does it compare to the Voodoo balance wise? jdrago21
The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB is a balanced bat. The DeMarini Voodoo is going to be slightly end loaded and have more flex to it.
Nick K.
Would this be a good bat for a contact hitter with decent swing speed? leadoff2121
Yes. This is a balanced bat with great pop.
Damon
How quickly does this bat lose its pop? leadoff2121
There is not a set time on when a bat will lose it's "pop". The amount of use is the main factor that will determine the amount of time the bat will last.
Kara
Would you prefer the 52 Caliber BBCOR or the 5150 Velo BBCOR for a power line drive hitter? Also if this bat is used in the winter in cold weather will it lose it's pop? chadini
Both are excellent bats with a great amount of pop. Both will be stiff one-piece bats, perfect for a power hitter. The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR will require a slight break-in period. The 5150 Velo will be hot out of the wrapper. The cold weather will not cause either bat to lose it's pop.
Kara
Which bat is better the COMbat 52 Caliber or the DeMarini Vexxum? Tiemo
The COMBAT 52 Caliber is a one-piece fully composite bat and the DeMarini Vexxum is a two-piece hybrid (composite handle/aluminum barrel) so it really depends on your preference of one-piece or two-piece bats. Here is a link to further compare both bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
I am 5'10" and 210 pounds, what would be a good size for me? TheJaster
We recommend a 33" 30 oz bat based on your height and weight,
Kara
Is this good for a power hitter? TheJaster
Yes the COMBAT 52 Caliber is a great one-piece fully composite bat that will be a great fit for a power hitter.
Tom
Just wondering, why did the price drop so low? Did something happen in the sales, because the combat b3 hasn't dropped and this is suppose to be the better version of that bat? right? luis
The B3 was actually the higher end bat from COMBAT. We received our last batch of 52 Caliber bats at a reduced price from COMBAT. Instead of keeping the price the same, we decided to pass those savings on to our customers.
Tyler
I want a one-piece composite bat because they feel lighter than aluminum bats. For the price, is this bat one of the best I could buy? DcDcDc
The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR: 52CALAB1 is a great one-piece composite bat. It's currently on closeout pricing and would be very, very hard to beat.
Tyler
Currently, I use a 31" bat. Do composite bats feel light enough that a player with average to above average bat speed could move up to a 32"? DCDCDCDCDC
The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR is slightly end loaded. If you would like to use a 32" bat we recommend the COMBAT B3 AB BBCOR: B3AB1 Adult or the 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent BBCOR: B4AB1 Adult.
Kara
Would you recommend the COMbat 52 Caliber or the COMbat Classic for a 14 year old, that is a mix of power and contact hitter? Michael
The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR and the COMBAT Classic BBCOR are going to be very similar. They both are very high performing bats that are fully composite. The 52 Caliber uses upgraded materials for added performance and durability.
Nick
Is there a big difference in going from a Rawlings Machine to the COMbat 52 Caliber? Ben
The main difference is the Rawlings Machine is a balanced two-piece bat and the COMBAT 52 Caliber is an end loaded bat.
Kara
Is a 33" 30 oz a good bat for a kid 5'5" 160? i need to know this
Based on your height and weight, a 32" 29 oz model would be more appropriate.
Tyler
If you are 13 and weigh 195 pounds and are 6' tall, is a 33" 30 oz. a good size? domingobeisbol
Yes, a 33" 30 oz. bat would be the recommended size.
Nick
Is this bat end loaded. And if it is, is it more end loaded then the 2012 vexxum? jrox53
The COMBAT 52 Caliber has a slightly endloaded feel, a little more so than the Vexxum.
Tyler
Does this bat sting your hand as much as some of the others? jtdbucc
We have not heard any issues with the COMBAT 52 Caliber model stinging your hands. Like any bat if you get jammed in on the hands or catch one off the end off the barrel you might get minor vibrations.
John
Are they going to make a newer version of this bat? and if so when? combat
Unfortunately, we have not received any information at this time regarding COMBAT's upcoming line of bats.
Tyler
Is this a good bat choice for a contact hitter but hits the ball hard (like line drives) ? Aj22
Yes. The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR: 52CALAB1 Adult bat is a good choice for a hard swinging contact hitter.
Tyler
Is the 52 Caliber AB BBCOR more end loaded then the 2012 Voodoo BBCOR? jules
The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR is slightly more end loaded than the 2012 Voodoo BBCOR.
Kara
Is there any other back packs with the Combat 52 Caliber besides the ones with the Easton or DeMarini? bulldogs#1
No, unfortunately the only bat packs we have with the COMBAT 52 Caliber are the two bat packs containing the DeMarini, and the Easton.
Noah
Is this bat for power hitters or contact hitters? TE201606
The COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR: 52CALAB1 has a slightly endloaded feel that makes it a great option for hitters with above average swing speed and strength.

Is this bat still legal for the 2015 baseball season? Bob
This COMBAT 52 Caliber AB BBCOR Baseball Bat (52CALAB1) will have the BBCOR .50 certification that will be required of bats being used in high school and college sanctioned games for the 2015 season. To answer the question directly, this 52 Caliber model will be legal for the 2015 season.
