The COMBAT B4 BBCOR will be stiff, but not end loaded. Compared to the B3 it will be very similar but have more durability. Being a one-piece composite, it is hot out of the wrapper bat that I would recommend it for a power hitter.

The DeMarini CF4 ST was a two-piece composite bat, whereas the COMBAT B4 Portent BBCOR is a balanced, one-piece composite bat. The B4 has the BBCOR certification which the CF4 did not. BBCOR certified bats will have less pop than pre BBCOR bats.

The DeMarini CF5 and the COMBAT B4 Portent both use some of the highest performing composite technology on the market. The performance of the two will be very similar. Both bats are balanced. The main difference is that the CF5 is a two-piece bat, whereas the B4 is a one-piece.

That depends on what size bat you are currently using. I wouldn't recommend moving up more than 3 ounces from what you are currently using. This is what I would base the decision off of. Also, the Vexxum is a two-piece hybrid design with a slight end loaded feel whereas the COMBAT B4 is a one-piece, fully composite, balanced bat.

No. The 2012 Easton Typhoon will have a slight end-load feel to it, which is typically preferred by power hitters. It is slightly comparable to the COMBAT B4 as they are both one-piece designs. But the B4 will have a balanced swing weight.

The biggest difference is the Precision Molding Technology used in the B4 Portent. COMBAT's exclusive Precision Molding Technology uses precision computer-controlled machine-hardened steel tooling to precisely control both outer and inner bat barrel diameters. This maintains tolerances of less that 1/1000 of an inch, which allows COMBAT's engineers to design barrel wall thickness to maximize barrel trampoline and bat performance.

The 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent BBCOR: B4AB1 Adult, the 2013 Easton S1 BBCOR: BB13S1 Adult, and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bats will all be very balanced models. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo will be slightly End Loaded. Typically, power hitters will prefer the End Loaded bats. Gap hitters and line drive hitters will like the more balanced versions. The S1 will be a two-piece, full composite design. The B4 will be a one-piece composite design, hot out of the wrapper, and have a stiffer feel. The Prototype Air will be a one-piece all alloy material. The Air will be hot out right out of the wrapper. The S1 will require a break-in period of 100-200 swings taking soft toss or doing tee work while rotating the barrel in your hands slightly. The two composite bats will out perform the alloy material in the long run. All of these bats are great choices.

It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Thus, the 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent BBCOR: B4AB1 would be recommended. Based on his size, a 31" or 32" model is recommended.

Reading the Q&A on Combat B4 Portent BBCOR, I'm seeing some variations on answers regarding swing weight. Some of the answers say balanced and some say slightly end loaded. My 13 year old son is currently swinging a 32" Marucci Team BBCOR and likes the swing weight, but it's not very high performing. How would you compare swing weight and performance between the B4 and Marucci Team BBCOR and also the Marucci Elite BBCOR (considering this as well as the B4)? RobbyS
The 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent BBCOR will have a similar swing weight to the Marucci Team BBCOR. Both are balanced, one-piece bats. The difference is the materials used. The COMBAT is a composite bat and the Marucci is an alloy bat. Even though the COMBAT has a composite material, it will be hot out of the wrapper just like the Marucci Team bat. As far as performance, the Marucci Elite is a balanced two-piece hybrid design with a carbon fiber handle and an alloy barrel and will be more comparable with the COMBAT.

That is based on player preference. The 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent BBCOR: B4AB1 Adult is a balanced bat, but power hitters typically use a bat they are comfortable with. Therefore, this bat works for power hitters, too.
