The new Lisa Fernandez Bruin is the hottest bat allowed under the new 98 MPH ABI limit. With very long barrel lengths, the longest in any multi-wall bat yet, this bat is sure to become a legend! Lisa's bat has everyone talking. The Bruin incorporates Variable Stiffness Technology which allows for lower barrel wall stiffness on both sides of the huge Gear sweetspot, resulting in an even larger sweet hitting area. Also found only in the Bruin is Blended Fiber Technology, where Arimid fibers ( found in bullet proof vests ) is combine with carbon and glass fibers in varying proportions and precise angles to get more trampoline effect and absorb vibrations resulting in more energy transfer to the ball and greater distance. Yes, the new Bruin Gear is the closest thing to the older Virus that COMBAT has put out recently. It is a multi-wall, full composite bat that uses their new variable stiffness technology.

This is a girls fastpitch bat, it is approved for ASA, NSA, and USSSA 1.20 BPF. Please check with your coach for bat regulations.

The GEARFP1 is an evenly balanced bat. It is ISF approved and has the ISF stamp on the barrel. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship to Australia, but are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Question regarding sweetspot- my physicist doctorate softball buddy says that as the sweetspot design is expanded the center of (whatever that word he used) contact reduces the potential distance a ball is hit, all things being equal. Is that true with all these "enlarged" sweetspot bats? In other words, smaller sweetspots = longer launch distance at the sweetspot? norm
That statement does hold quite a bit of truth. There really aren't any scientific studies I'm aware of, but typically bats with larger sweetspots may not have as much pop as a similar quality bat with a smaller sweetspot. Obviously, there are other variables, most importantly, the quality of the materials used to make the bat.

Depending on what DeMarini she is swinging currently the COMBAT Bruin Gear: GEARFP1 -10 Fastpitch bat could be a good switch. This bat is approved by all major associations. It will be 100% all composite in design. It will feature COMBAT's variable stiffness technology (VST) and super sweetspot size (SSS) and have a longer barrel length. What this really means is, longer barrel lengths, lighter bat, and a monster sweetspot resulting in maximum allowable performance. On top of all of this performance is a really cool, old school look of wood.

The COMBAT Bruin Gear: GEARFP1 -10 Fastpitch bat will be a balanced bat. It will not have an end load.

The COMBAT Bruin Gear (GEARFP1) is an older model and we only have it available in the 34" 24 oz. If you want some other suggestions, I would recommend taking a look at the 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORFP210) or the 2014 COMBAT Wanted (WANFP110). We have both of those available in a 32" 22 oz.
