Description

For those players that started with a small barrel COMBAT - you will not be disappointed in the all new B4 youth big barrel bat. For those of you that have never experienced the COMBAT difference, here is what you can expect: a swing weight that is right on point, a sweet spot that's almost not even fair, and zero sting/vibration. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. It all starts with COMBAT's Localized Stiffening Technology that allows their engineers to lower barrel wall stiffness on both sides of the normal sweet spot, resulting in an enlarged Double Sweetspot area where absolute maximum performance can be achieved! The 100% composite, one-piece Portent utilizes COMBAT's Blended Fiber Technology that blends several different fibers in varying proportions at carefully controlled angles to create a composite material that results in both resilient durability and increased trampoline effect. Separation Barrier Technology also allows this bat to be HOT out of the wrapper! The B4 Portent draws much of its durability from its Seamless Construction; meaning that there are not cuts or splices - just continuous fiber all the way around. Feel, Durability, and Sweet Spot. That's what makes COMBAT the preferred composite bat. COMBAT: For Players, By Players! The Portent features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

PORSL108 D parent

Pros: First year with a big barrel, second time purchasing COMbat. Last season our boy used a smaller B4, and This year the league allows the use of a big barrel. For us the choice was obvious. He enjoyed the B4 so much last year, and so far is killing the ball with the Portent. The pop is unreal. Worth every dollar.

Cons: Little expensive, but worth it.

Impressive Bat coach coach

Pros: Got one of these for our AAA tournament team's bat rack (along with the 2-piece Wanted), and have been really impressed by the performance. Excellent pop and exit speed, very balanced, minimal break in required, and large sweet spot have made this bat more popular on our team than the new $350 Easton's.

Cons: None so far.

great bat baseball observer parent

Pros: Hot out of the wrapper. Great swing weight. Tons of pop. Larger barrel, reduces vibration on mishits. The fully composite one piece construction with a light swing weight is a great compromise between contact and power.

Cons: None

How does this bat compare with the Easton Power Brigade XL and S-Series? JJ
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL108 Senior League is a one-piece composite design, unlike the Easton XL1 and S1, which are both two-piece composite designs. The COMBAT has the same -8 length to weight ratio as the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X18 Senior League, but with a well balanced feel of the 2013 Easton S1: SL13S110 Senior League, which is two oz. lighter than the COMBAT.
Katie
Is this bat better than the CF5 LE? HUI
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL108 Senior League and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 LE: DXCFR-LE Senior League are very comparable in terms of performance and durability. Design-wise, however, they differ. The Portent is a one-piece composite for a stiffer feel, while the CF5-LE is a two-piece composite which will give you a little more flex in the handle.
Katie
Is this bat more of a power hitters bat or more of a speed bat? TxCombat34
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL108 Senior League is a one-piece bat so it will be good for power hitters, but it is also balanced so it would be good for contact hitters as well.
Tori
Do they make a 29" 21 oz? Chuck
The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL108) Senior League does not come in a 29" 21 oz model. COMBAT does not have any plans to release a model smaller than the 30" 22 oz.
Jason
Is there a break-in time frame on this bat? What is the separation barrier? Is this a double wall bat? Thanks. Oklahoma Native
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL108 Senior League bat will not require any break-in period due to the Separation Barrier Technology.

Is it ok to use this bat, as well as two-piece composite bats, to hit Jugs balls on pitching machines? I've heard the Jugs balls can damage some bats. anson
We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 COMBAT Portent: (PORSL108) Senior League, in commercial batting cages that use yellow "dimple" balls. These balls are more dense than the game balls that the bats are designed to hit. Also, many manufacturers list in their warranty details that hitting these balls will void your warranty against defects.
Mac
What is the possibility that the end cap will break? mike
The 2014 COMBAT Portent: (PORSL108 Senior League) should not have any issues with any end cap breaks. Although, I guess there is always a possibility with any bat.
Brandon
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth? mattyg77777

I am trying to decide between a 31 inch 23 ounce or a 32 inch 22 ounce bat. My kid is pretty strong and if these bats feel or swing lighter than the weight they show, I don't want it to be too lite. bdb
A -10 (32 inch 22 ounce) bat like the 2014 COMBAT Portent Senior League Baseball Bat (PORSL110) will be lighter than a -8 (31 inch 23 ounce) 2014 COMBAT Portent Senior League Baseball Bat (PORSL108) which one he should go with would be based more on what he has been using and his development. If he has been using a -10, a -8 could be a good transition. If he has been using something lighter, it may be better to start with a -10.
Patrick
What's the difference in barrel length between a 32/24 and a 32/22? buck2676
With these COMBAT Portent Senior League Baseball Bat (PORSL108) models, the barrel length will actually be the same as the -10 length to weight ratio model's barrel in the 32" size.
