What is the difference between this and the B4? combatlover
The COMBAT Pure Gear: PUREYB1 has Anistropic, Precision Molding, and Gear technologies not found in the B4. Anistropic is different stiffnesses and strengths to maximize feel. Precision Molding controls inner and outer wall thicknesses to maximize trampoline effect. Gear is a special taper geometry to allow greater performance toward the barrel taper.

These two bats are very similar in design and will perform just about the same. The main difference between these bats is the composite material the bats are made out of. The COMBAT Pure Gear is a newer model made with a more durable, higher performing composite. Both are balanced pretty evenly and have large sweet spots.

How does this bat compare to the Easton Omen (weight/balance/performance)? The Omen feels heavier than many other bats the same size. BQS
The Easton Omen is slightly end loaded with a lot of flex. The COMBAT Pure Gear will be more balanced and stiffer than the Easton Omen. The COMBAT Pure Gear is made of top of the line composite materials and will perform similar to the Easton Omen.

According to COMBAT the Pure Gear does not require a break in period. However, we do recommend a short break-in before using the COMBAT Pure Gear in live pitching.

The COMBAT Pure Gear would be perfect for a power hitter. The sweet spot is going to be the same on the COMBAT Pure Gear -10 and the COMBAT Pure Gear -12.

I'm considering either the pure gear or the Easton xl 1. My son is ten. Power hitter. The Easton is two piece.. Which you've stated is better for contact hitters. The combat is one piece.. Unfortunately, most youth bats will be well balanced. The one youth bat I would recommend that's one piece with an endloaded feel is the Easton XL3.

The Easton XL1 will be more end loaded for a power hitter. Both will have great pop because they are both composite barrels, but the COMBAT will better suit a contact hitter.

Based on his age, height and weight, a 29" model of the -12 version would be recommended.

Both the COMBAT Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -10 Youth and the 2013 COMBAT B2 Reloaded: B2YB2 -10 Youth are balanced bats. The Pure Gear will feel more like a two-piece bat.

The 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 is a -12 model that will feel lighter and more balanced than the COMBAT Pure Gear: PUREYB1 in a similar length. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.

Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" model. The COMBAT Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -10 Youth will be a few ounces heavier than other Youth models in the same length, but if your player has good bat speed, he should be able to swing it efficiently.

The COMBAT Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -10 Youth, as well the COMBAT Portent, is a one-piece bats. For contact hitters, we normally recommend using a two-piece bat because it will allow for more flex.
