The best way to break-in the COMbat Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -12 Youth is to take 100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss. Rotate the barrel 1/4 inch every swing. Start out with 40% power and work up to 100% by 100 swings. We also recommend not to use a composite bat in a batting cage that uses yellow dimpled balls.
My 6 year old son is 4'1" and 54 lbs. He currently swings a 26" 16 oz. alloy bat which allows him great swing speed to be a great contact hitter and with some power. We are looking to add some "pop" and distance to his hits. What bat would you recommend? Which size based on his size, weight and age?
The COMbat Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -12 Youth is a great one-piece fully composite bat that is very balanced. Based on his size, we would recommend moving to the COMbat Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -10 Youth in a 28" 18.
Will it be legal in Little League for 2014?
As of 4/18/2013, the COMbat Pure Gear: PUREYB1 -12 Youth bat is legal for use in Little League. There aren't any official 2014 rules yet, but it should maintain its legality.
